The voices which came in over the radio were cracked and barely audible, the channel flooding with static allowing for no comprehensible words to be heard by the tank’s occupants. Raising he speaker to his mouth once more Ra gave a quick reply, simply stating that their radio was damaged and they were fleeing attackers. The result wasn’t from any battle damage but intentional sabotage, Ra having sliced off the communications antennae which allowed for the tank’s pilots to speak with the garrison and post updates. Like their previous strategy it was an almost transparent ploy, to avoid giving any signals or commands which might have otherwise betrayed them as intruders. But when combined with the bullet holes and ruptured armour visible on every other member of the division, what would have otherwise instantly aroused the suspicions of the troopers on duty was ignored. Glancing at one of the feed being displayed from the exterior camera Ra slowly gave the signal for the Ar’c positioned in the turret to begin lining up its opening shot. Unwilling to risk any radio signals between the different soldiers being detected by the Federation and lose the element of surprise each of them had been given their orders prior to leaving. The job of those in the tank was to simply give the other vehicles an opening. The entire machine bucked and the man cannon fired, the titanic recoil of the weapon sending tremors throughout the tank’s armoured form. Moving too fast to be seen the shell fired by the cannon sped through the air, hitting its target dead on. The actual weapon used by the tank was outdated, years behind most of the traditional weapons and most likely selected for reasons of maintenance rather than firepower, nevertheless it did the job. One of the gun crews, one of two keeping watch over the most direct entrance towards the site, disappeared in a fireball. Frantically Ra passed the next shell to the gunner as the second of the two caught on to the threat and opened fire, a beam of energy tore through the tracks of an APC next to them and brought it to a grinding halt. Ejecting the spent casing the second shell was loaded and the tank shook again as the cannon bellowed in response. The shell fell short of its target, detonating directly in front of the crew. Blinded, the following shots from the emplacement weapon missed their mark, the beam slicing through the sand amidst the vehicles and missing their target entirely. They were quickly silenced as the escort speeder, the only other armed machine to have survived the previous battle, let loose a trio of blasts, ripping through the defences of the gun and killing those manning it. The Federation’s response was quick, even as the second of the two guns was taken care of Ra heard the sound of projectiles smaller weapons burning into the tank’s armoured exterior and the visual camera he had been watching disappeared as a shot burned it off the hull. Opening up the vision slit in front of his position he saw several more vehicles falter as the Federation troopers focused their fire on exposed weak such as their tracks. Dozens of them were piling out of the prefabricated buildings at a time, taking up battle lines and hiding behind previously constructed walls and bunkers. The Ar’c who had been in the APC immobilised by the attacks were abandoning their vehicles, returning fire and covering the other transports trying to reach the Federation’s lines. Grunting with irritation Ra snatched up his weapons and began opening the tank’s hatch overhead. They’d underestimated the trooper’s abilities to react to a sudden attack. While he would have otherwise expected any garrison to become lax or complacent after having spent so long without any sign of a threat to them, the Federation were clearly able to train their soldiers well. Turning the sudden attack into a pitch battle, bogging down the Ar’c with suppressive fire and superior numbers. Having already taken casualties in the earlier battle this was something he had been hoping they could avoid, instead hoping for them to break past their defences and deal with the troopers before they could mobilise. Exiting the tank Ra dropped to the ground and sprinted towards the battle, behind him the gunner unleashing another shot, blowing one of the buildings the Feds were using for cover to pieces. Most of the damage he had taken in the previous fight had been repaired and, he was of more use in combat than he was at the back of their lines. A new sound entered the battle and he heard the sharp crack of sniper rifles, several of the Ar’c having taken them from the dead in the ambush. A few enemy troopers fell, mostly those bringing heavy weapons to bear but also one figure fleeing the battle. Ra watched in astonishment as the figure righted itself, apparently unharmed by the shot. At the range the bullet from the weapon had hit the figure he should have been killed by the bullet’s impact alone. A second later he took off, sprinting through the exchange of fire between both groups, shrugging off and outright ignoring anything which hit him. It only took Ra a second to see where the figure was heading before he was chasing after him through the hail of gunfire: the Chozo Ruins. |

Jenosa grinned with some satisfaction at their team work; true, it would have felt more rewarding to if they had accomplished the job without any super strength augmentation; but hey, you worked with how you liked to. "I have no idea what mind-reading trick you're talking about Travis," Jenosa commented with a chuckle, "I'm just doing what I think is right." "It's gotta... it's gotta be like that, huh?" Rex managed to say. "Tell your boss... tell him I said he's a chickenshit. "Henry'll get him. He'll get Delacroix, and Spider, and all them other fuckin' shit stains... and he'll get all you guys too. All you guys are dead..." "Ohhh, I'm scared," Jenosa replied with sarcasm, "sad to say but none of here have a boss to shout at; although I think we'd really like to know who you're talking about. Speaking of which..." Then, without warning and in one fluid motion, Jenosa's gun turned her gun strait at the white haired stranger. "No hard feelings," she she reassured, her greens irises flaring blue, "but I'm sure you'll understand that having a complete stranger pop out of the alley way with your kind of attitude is a bit suspicious. Not saying we can't become good b- The added familiar warmth crossing into her awareness was enough to make her pause. But it was the voice she heard that made Jenosa swear. "You--you're dead. Supposed to be, anyway," The Chozo warrior said, Jenosa feeling the newly defined but familiar tingling sensation of Z'Gato's arm canon filling her awareness like a warning light. And with so many possibilities for danger, Jenosa found herself 'zoning' becoming even more in touch with her alien sense. Alissa and Z'Gato could both see her green irises now shimmering a constant light blue, all the while Jenosa could hear his suspicious and almost sense it in his stance without looking at it at all. Everything about the situation had suddenly become very unnerving for her, and not just because of the danger. "You cannot be Jenosa Arma, I watched her die." Jenosa gritted her teeth in response, "Y'know, while I applaud you for actually being suspicious about who I am and everything, this a really bad time for me to start doing explanations. Can we try walking into a more enclosed area with guns still point at our heads first? I preferably our heads in one piece intact." Edited by CEMP, Dec 1 2010, 12:55 AM.

Things were going well; the suspect was in custody and at the very least she hoped to talk these two into giving her a chance to question him. Odds where that there was enough information to keep them all busy and once they were done with this one they could all go their separate ways if it suited them. Of course Alissa was on some levels still used to more military cooperation… Quite suddenly there was a weapon now aimed at her, “no hard feelings, but I'm sure you'll understand that having a complete stranger pop out of the alley way with your kind of attitude is a bit suspicious. Not saying we can't become good b-“ Alissa’s heart rate spiked a moment however more metal control than anything else kept her system from going into over drive, this was not the time to fight she told herself, between the armored hunter and the way that woman moved she was in a good deal more danger than she was when she had been chasing them through the streets. Her own weapon was still trained on the man now cuffed on the ground and she had not so much as moved an inch since the weapon had been drawn on her. Alissa took a slow breath and opened her mouth to speak “I-“that was all she got out before the newest arrival spoke up, this one though had aimed his weapon at the red haired hunter. “You--you're dead. Supposed to be, anyway,” it was a statement of fact, not a threat. That seemed a bit strange. The new arrival did however provide for just a moment of distraction on the part of those who had a weapon trained on her. Alissa moved far too quickly for most as her weapon was aimed now, even without a change to her internal systems Alissa was still blindingly fast, the combination of her biology and the various machines melded with her body allowed her to move more quickly then she should be able too. The one they were calling Jenosa, or at least the one who could not be spoke “Can we try walking into a more enclosed area with guns still point at our heads first? I preferably our heads in one piece intact." “we could all lower our weapons and discuss things like professionals.” Alissa added quietly, it seemed a bit rude to her, having a weapon pointed in her face, the response however seemed right, she was not willing to go down without a fight, she would prefer not to have her life end this way, that much was a certainty. |

There was a flash through the alleyway and out strode a young man, dusting off the sleeves of his jacket. "Y'know, as much as I don't trust you a stranger who just magically happens to show up to help, you have a point." Travis strode out as the light receded, revealing a rather good-looking young man. What he didn't expect was for another figure from that fateful day to make an appearance. "Z'gato? Is that you?" He queried, stretching out and relaxing. "Well I would say it's nice to see you too, but you need to lower that thing. Nobody here is a threat to you, regardless of whether or not this woman really is Jenosa... I'm in agreement, let's haul this miscreant where we can get information and drop him off. I want to know more of how he came to possess this right here" -Travis picked the beam weapon up off the ground and held it pointed down to the ground - "and perhaps after you listen, so may you, bird of war." "Where's the safety on this thing?" He had turned to the subdued thug, the weapon still pointed to the ground. "I don't want it going off on us by accident obviously, and neither do you. And by the way, watch your step next time you pull a stunt like that, I was enjoying my tea." He turned around to allow Vega a good look at his face and the hooded figure as well. Z'Gato's eyes continued to glare suspiciously at the woman who looked like Jenosa, the glow in her eyes doing nothing to ease the Chozo Warrior's suspicions, but the fact that Travis had even attempted to vouch for her was enough for him to lower his weapon, if only for the moment. "...Very well. If that man had such technology in his possession, I would have questions with him as well. But as soon as that is over, I'm going to need some answers," He said, pointing an armored talon at Jenosa. "about her. Let's be on our way," He finished, backing out of the alleyway so that the rest of the group could make their way out. The Chozo warrior looked over at Omega-Alpha and shook his head. "It seems fate would have us continue to work together, creature." |

The group was on the move to another location. When Omega-Alpha had originally arrived on the scene with the mob of hunters surrounding their prey, he was planning to slaughter the human who wielded the ice blaster if he didn't let it go. But, once Travis Clark stepped in and disarmed him, he halted to see if it would be raised against anyone else. Had Mr. Clark threatened anyone with it, he would've been the new target. Omega-Alpha was thankful it didn't go down like that. Instead, the weapon was wrenched from the prey's panicked hold and was held by the barrel - not the grip. This made the creature halt in his tracks and wait. As the hunters escorted Mr. Vega, they had to walk past the creature clad in brown. As they passed, he leaned towards the victim's head and sniffed. He already had the man's scent, but there was something vindictive in the tone of Omega's body language. It was as if he was saying 'how dare you'. He snuffled at the man's face, neck, and hair, followed by a smack of the lips, and a foot wide grin revealing rows sharp white teeth that moved in place along with four distinctive cuspid fangs. The lighting didn't reveal the rest of the face beneath the hood. "If he won't talk like we want," the words coming out more like a four-toned growl, "can I have a taste?" |

Jenosa almost jumped out of her skin when one second she was looking at the white haired woman's face and the next she was looking at a gun. The whole thing was a like goddamn illusion, as if she had her gun pointed at her this whole entire time. Except...she knew it wasn't an optical illusion, not by a long shot; it had all been very real. Jenosa had felt the gun's pulsing energies within her awareness not being pointed at her, and in in a split second it was; even if she wasn't very fond of her how alien her sixth sense made her feel, there was no denying that she...trusted it. It was an ugly trust, but in her life experiences after her past transformation, she had learned not to doubt what it registered. And what had been registered in between that split second was what had really made her jump. It wasn't bright like Omega's, but what it lacked in potency it made up for distinction. She had grown so accustomed to distinguishing the unique 'tastes' between the electrical energies of machines and organisms that it was quite the contrast; yet when Alissa had her gun pointed at her, the short but vibrant pulse she got out of Alissa was like a blend of these two; to a point where she could barely tell the difference. It was as if the very essence of the woman she was having the face off with was both..mechanical and biological. All of this was process by her in a breath's notice, everything about it coming to her by instinct that should have been there to begin with; a fact that certainly bothered more and more deep inside, but she wasn't going to let it drag her down. “We could all lower our weapons and discuss things like professionals.” Yeah, what she said Jenosa thought, trying to contemplate whether or not to trust this woman. It seemed like she wanted to be able to cooperate, but it there was no telling what her plans were in the long run. Everyone else, even Z'Gato despite his canon being pointed her, she could trust to an because she knew them. She breathed a sigh a sigh of relief as Z'Gato agreed to Travis's statement, but couldn't find the will to relax; even after getting the information from Vega, there was still the explanation she wasn't looking forward to. And then she thought, perhaps getting to know this stranger might be a good idea; after all, there wouldn't a demand for an unnerving explanation. "I don't know who you are, but you're definitely a professional like I am, and that makes me nervous; I don't know what you're real reason for being here is. Still..." Without ceremony, she withdrew her weapon, gave a reprieved sigh, and completely out of the blue, held out her hand for a friendly handshake. "...you do seem to want to help, or at least be an ally. Don't try anything funny." She took a glance at Z'Gato and added as she turned back to Alissa, "I don't what anyone here will say, I am Jenosa Arma. So how about you? What's you're name, and what's your take in all of this?" To the side, she replied to Omega with a smile, "Sure thing, just don't kill him please; or make him sleepy at that. I have a feeling this guy will be stubborn, and we need coherent when he does talk." |

"I don't know who you are, but you're definitely a professional like I am, and that makes me nervous; I don't know what you're real reason for being here is. Still..." Alissa watched the woman quietly as the weapon was lowered; it seemed strange that the woman who was so quick to pull a weapon on her would be so willing to be the first to stand down as well. Alissa tilted her head to the side quietly as the hand was extended in greeting. Internally there was hesitation, not because she felt it was a trap, but because she was unsure of what was happening. A moment ago things had been clear enough, they were in competition, and there was suspicion. Now however Alissa was not sure, suddenly it appeared that this woman was willing to at least extending an olive branch. Alissa looked from Jenosa to her obvious ally, to the others who at least appeared to know her. The assessment was easy enough, outnumbered and out gunned. "...you do seem to want to help, or at least be an ally. Don't try anything funny." Easy enough, attempting anything foolish would likely end up getting Alissa shot or killed. Her thumb flipped a switch and the weapon disengaged with a slowly declining whine as Alissa returned it to its holster under her arm before extending a hand in return. "I don't what anyone here will say, I am Jenosa Arma. So how about you? What's you're name, and what's your take in all of this?" Alissa took her hand shaking it “Alissa Achilles, I was contracted to look into the advanced weapons that have been making their way onto the streets here in town” She offered quietly glancing down at Rex a moment “ I saw the mess this one made, and you two chasing him, I followed to see what happened, offer help if it was needed, and get what information I could.” She looked back towards Jenosa “ I assumed you were on the same job” |

Jenosa grinned mischievously at ALissa's delayed reaction; the white haired woman had clearly been put out of position psychologically, which was what Jenosa had been aiming for. She had wanted to see how the woman would react given her professional attitude, and really, what she was doing was completely based on a vague hunch - a hunch with no clear idea - she had gotten upon looking this person in the face. The white haired woman, after a moment, took her hand shaking it. She lightly felt the woman's strange energies flowing within her flesh, but instinctively shoving her unnerved feelings about it aside. “Alissa Achilles, I was contracted to look into the advanced weapons that have been making their way onto the streets here in town” She offered quietly glancing down at Rex a moment “ I saw the mess this one made, and you two chasing him, I followed to see what happened, offer help if it was needed, and get what information I could.” She looked back towards Jenosa “ I assumed you were on the same job” The red headed shook her head, "Nope, not quite. Me and my friend over there- she pointed to Travis - were supposed to meet each other, but it all got rather rudely interrupted by that guy,' she said, now pointing to Vega. "Let's just say I though I'd be the good Samaritan and make my good buddy Travis aware of the little toy he had. I honestly had no idea the tech was being flown about in these streets, but your story does make sense." Yeah, but is it the truth or a cover story. One things for sure, she though briefly, she was definitely a strait-to-the-point professional type, no doubt about it. That, of course, was already obvious from her stance and speech; she was just here to do a job. But what made Jenosa both chuckle inwardly and suspicious was how...neutral this person was. There wasn't much of a personality to her; no attitude, enthusiasm or exuberance, but none of the opposite either, like a cold look or boastfulness. She was almost like an android, which seemed almost fitting giving her energies, but she wasn't about to jump the gun and think she was one. And Jenosa certainly wasn't a psychologist by any standards, and right, she just wanted to see what buttons on Alissa she could push; if not for the sake of learning more about her. "So..." she said as they walked to a more secure location, "You're family name is Achilles, right? That seems like a familiar name, or rather a word, I don't know. Heard it thrown about for various stuff like a muscle problem and such, but...while I'm not good on history here, it does sound like name from human mythology. Mind if I know why you're family chose that name?" |

Alissa turned to move with the group as they transported Vega, so long as her interests were they she would follow along, so long as she did not feel as though this was a dangerous situation, at least one that she could not get out of. “So... You're family name is Achilles, right? That seems like a familiar name, or rather a word, I don't know. Heard it thrown about for various stuff like a muscle problem and such, but...while I'm not good on history here, it does sound like name from human mythology. Mind if I know why you're family chose that name?" Alissa glanced towards Jenosa quietly a moment as they walked along. “ It is the name given to all the children in the center where I grew up” She said simply, it was not a lie of course, however most people just assumed it meant Alissa was an Orphan. The galaxy is full of them, some are lucky and adopted, others grow up in institutions of some kind, and others are much less fortunate. Alissa knew from research that some were simply fronts for various less than legal activities, a few years back she had worked a job that involved clearing out one such placed that experimented on the children, it had struck something inside her, the children were placed in a safe facility, and Alissa destroyed the place she had found them. Alissa blinked at the memory, now why had that come up? She blinked a moment pushing the memory away for the time being, either way other than what she had stated Alissa was not about to share the truth of her nature with this stranger, being a runaway science experiment tended to make one a bit paranoid. Alissa turned her head a bit as they walked looking towards Jenosa “I’m surprised you hadn’t heard about this contract, you both seem capable, there is certainly enough going on here to keep a fair number of hunters busy.” Alissa realized that she was changing the subject to avoid talking about herself, though that was in part because she didn’t really enjoy lying to people, and given the now friendly demeanor of Jenosa she found the idea even less tasteful. Not that she had forgotten the gun in the face a few minutes ago, but this woman appeared to be making an effort, and Alissa knew she should too, though she was not sure what that meant at the moment. |
