Travis sighed, lowering his weapon before exhaling deeply. As quickly as it had erupted, the chaos in the bar had subsided, although the actual bar proper was more-or-less trashed; the shelved bottles of liquor that didn't lay on their sides were shattered onto the floor with their contents spilled all over the floor... and more likely, Ronnie and Jack. And like clockwork, Jenosa and Z'gato were back at each others' throats, each making passive-aggressive jabs at the other. "Right, THANKFULLY we're still within parameters." Travis shifted himself over the bar with ease, standing directly above Jack with the barrel of his rifle aimed at the man's head with one hand as he pressed a button on the visor; as to what he was doing anyone could guess, but Travis was scanning the old veteran's biosigns; at the least, they could make sure that Jack wasn't placed into cardiac arrest if they HAD to get rough with the man. Looking up as he released his hold on the button, he assessed his surroundings; by now, the redhead merc had given up trying to get loose, finding that struggling with the knife pinning him to the table made the pain worse. He laid himself against the wood resigned and exhausted, likely about to pass out from the effort. His sharp eyes immediately noted the slight discoloration on Jenosa's cheek; a graze wound from Ronnie's drunken aim, no doubt. She didn't seem particularly bothered by it, so he let that leave his attention. But of course, there was Z'gato, who arguably had just taken a hit for him. "Zgato... can you breathe alright? Thank you, by the way..." Travis stated calmly as he leaned down and kicked Jack's weapon from his loosened grip and across the room. The chozo was obviously in the worst shape of all of them. Even though the powered armor had held completely intact (Chozo alloy was something else), it was obvious to Travis even through the drugs and adrenaline that his battle brother had taken a substantial blow. That shotgun wasn't an ordinary weapon, and if -he- had taken that blast... well, the armor might have held, but his chest would have been severely damaged; he would be in as poor of a condition as Z'gato. Not taking his eyes of his companion, Travis stuck his rifle back onto his back and with practiced precision he dismantled the weapon before bringing his foot down onto the exposed internal trigger mechanisms, smashing them to pieces and rendering the shotgun useless. They were ready to go, but until he was sure that Z'gato could move or much less fight, he wasn't heading through to the tram entrance just yet. "By the way, Jack... if you're still conscious then I assume your'e smart enough to stay down. I don't want to, but I -will- shoot you if I have to." ((Lemme know if this okay, Jefe.)) |

Between the pain and the drugs coursing through his Chozo veins, it very much took the intervention of someone to break him out of the panicked stupor, one with fiery hair and a stern will. It only took him a moment to register who was trying to keep him from wrecking more of the establishment, but once recognition filled his eyes, he pulled his arm cannon away from her grip, growling low. "I'm--fine," he grunted, his voice betraying his injuries more than his words did. He barely even heard what Travis was saying as the warrior tried to stand up, using a nearby table for support. "I--can..." He uttered through his helmet's communication system, as his voice likely did not travel much further beyond his helmet. He could breath alright, that much would be apparent to his partners, each of his breaths labored and pained. If he was inclined to, Travis could easily patch into Z'Gato's life support readout, the status his suit was reporting very dire. All of Z'Gato's ribs had been broken, some fractured in many places, with two of his ribs still free-floating in his chest cavity. At least one of his internal organs was suffering from internal bleeding, a fact that his Power Armor was trying desperately to subdue with a very thorough cocktail of medicinal components, injections, and combat drugs to keep him conscious, keep him lucid, keep him moving. A long moment passed as he slowly got to his feet, blood dripping from between his armored plates. "...I can...breathe, yes, Sey'la," he said again, looking at Travis for a moment before looking at the chaos that had been the result of his instinctual firepower. The place was a wreck, that much was for certain, with all the broken bottles as well as the remains of the bar and wall behind it. He did not feel remorseful for the damage he did, not as much as he did for the momentary break of discipline. "I am... glad you are... uninjured," Z'Gato said to Travis before the tall bird man started looking around for the entrance to the monorail. "We don't have...rrrg...have much time." Damnit, if only each breath did not feel like daggers in his chest. Even through the pain suppressants, he could feel needles in his lungs, which was causing no shortage of alarm for him, but he kept his mouth as quiet as he could. Don't give the woman even more ammunition for further ridicule--he was not in the mood for any more of her antics. |

(... blood?) Travis tapped into Z'gato's biometric feed and immediately grimaced in alarm. [Subject suffering from substantial trauma to thoractic cavity. Vitals falling. Heavy stimulants detected in bloodstream.] "Oh no..." He said aloud, immediately looming in close to help hold Z'gato steady. "Z'gato, slow down; it's obvious you're barely standing. Let me at least administer some first aid while we're; don't you dare die on me, man...!" He fumbled with the pouch along his side with his left hand, hoisting the chozo's arm onto his right shoulder as gently as possible. For situations like this, Travis always kept a small cache of emergency medical supplies on hand in his suit; a medical-strength vitamin supplement for blood loss, a couple rolls of bandages, medi-gel, and a few small syringes of drugs. Of all the medical implements, one in particular was of pressing need: Mitoacceline. A powerful, low-dosage concoction from ingredients he particularly didn't care to recall, this small syringe was sometimes the difference between staggering into a hospital and a mender whilst stable yet barely conscious, or expiring from earlier traumatic injury due to the strain of injury. How it worked was simple enough; the compound somehow boosted both the rate at which cells constitute and reproduce in the body for four minutes; enough for two trips through the bloodstream of the average humanoid. The catch, of course, was substantial; in exchange for pushing the cellular systems substantially beyond natural limitation, the one treated with the drug risked lopping off a few years from their lifespan. To be sure, it was an extreme measure to -ever- consider using it; but right now Travis was painfully aware of the extreme situation, and judging from the biometric readouts in his visor, Z'gato urgently needed this concoction in his bloodstream -now- or they had to leave Alissa to fend for herself and find a doctor; and since the latter option wasn't immediately feasible, much less considerable.... (Z'gato, forgive me, but you'll die if I don't do this...) Travis thought to himself, feeling around along the underside of the chozo's helmet before finding the lock mechanism and releasing it; the removal of the helmet exposed the chozo's neck, freeing his hand to activate a biometric mode of the visor. "Sorry Jenosa, Omega; I know we're pressed for time but he'll die if I don't treat him..." He nodded apologetically at the redhead and Omega, not taking his attention away from the various life systems being scanned inside of Z'gato's neck. "You two should go find the monorail and we should be there shortly; if we're not there in a minute, you go without us. Sighing, Travis gently set Z'gato down and made sure not to further aggravate his injury. "Hold as still as you can Z'gato. My apologies for this, but this is probably going to hurt like crazy even with the drugs already in your system. But it will save your life. After the drug's in, hang back once we're in the base and give the compound a chance to kick in. At the least, it will let you move around and breathe unhindered." And finding a suitable vein in the birdman's neck, Travis injected the Mitoacceline with hurried precision. |

The bird warrior did not seem to respond to Travis’ initial halt. He did not try to push his comrade away, but he uttered his words with pain, laboring for breath. “I—I don’t…” He tried to say. “Need…” At that point, he leaned into Travis a bit more, his mind trying to push his body further than it could go, apparently. Warning lights flashed inside his helmet, his suit warning him of his failing health. Normally, warriors would need such alarms if they were in a fit of bloodlust and rage, as if to snap them out of a drug-driven, rage-fueled spell of madness in combat. In the older days, when the Chozo still had Legions, it was common to see a Chozo wrapped in a spell of berserker—as the human tongue called it. Apparently, rage was a powerful anesthetic. Here, however, Z’Gato did not have the benefit of having an enemy in front of him, nor fallen comrades to try and avenge, and his body began to fail where his mind could not push it. Before he realized it, his helmet was pried off, fresh air seeping into his lungs—enough to cause him to cough, drops of blood spewing out from his beak, coating the edges of his mouth. His lungs must have hemorrhaged somewhere as well, his suit having just identified it, though be it the strain from the shotgun blast or merely over straining his own lungs, he could not tell—the room was far too blurry for him to try to deduce that at the moment. Soon enough, he was guided down to the floor, the Chozo laying down on his back, trying to keep listening to Travis’ words. He felt like he was on death’s doorstep, nearly upon the knocker, but his grip was strong yet, it seemed. Another stab of pain in his neck elicited an yelp and a groan, still laboring for breath as each expansion of his torso brought for more and more needles of pain. His lifesigns continued to fade. And then, the pain came. He let out another painful roar, his grip on Travis’ forearm tightening, enough to bend the metal and weave that consisted of his own suit of armor, the Chozo armor’s natural instinct to enhance Z’Gato’s strength obviously working against him at the moment. Pain, fire—like down below on the planet where the trial was. Swimming through lava, braving through extreme cold. His body felt like it was tearing itself apart as the Mitoacceline worked on repairing the damage done to his body, as best as it could anyway. Another cough, blood landing upon Travis’ armor and helmet as the warrior clung on to life in more ways than one. The first sixty second passed, and the pain began to ebb away, his breathing becoming easier, actually beneficial now, and Z’Gato’s grip began to loosen. But the burning sensation was still there, spreading to the rest of his body, his cells quickly bonding and forming over the wounds he had taken. Internal bleeding was reduced, his heart no longer as strained, and his lungs no longer leaking fluids. After those four minutes—probably the longest he had ever felt—he did not cough again. “Sey’la, I—“ He said, taking deep breaths after those minutes, trying to get up again, fumbling for his helmet. “You didn’t—shouldn’t—didn’t… “ He fumbled for the right words, his head still swimming in the mixture of pain suppressants and artificial adrenaline. “…should have… gone with them…can’t…can’t slow down,” he said, finally finding the strength to sit up and try and get up. "If all there was to me was the mission and nothing else? You'd be right." Travis nodded calmly, ignoring the slight ache along his forearm; a minor dent in the armor, but nothing serious. "But... I'm not about to leave you at the mercy of those two, and I'm not going to leave my comrades behind if I can help it. We still have two minutes, and the monorail takes only a minute to go back and forth; we'll make the time window. "Now then... let's get to work, shall we Z'gato?" With the trust that the chozo would soon rise up behind him, Travis ran down to the platform and waited for the monorail to make a return trip. That was probably the last chance they had to slow down or stop, and now they were out of "cushion". It was time to do what they came here for; get Delacroix, and stop Jenkins. |

Unknown to either Travis or Z'Gato, Jenosa had actually been hit in the abdomen by one of Z'gato's energy blasts before she had blocked the rest. It was part of what had contributed to her current frustration with the birdman; true, she should have avoided his blasts, but, reflexively, Jack, and even Ronnie, for all their stubbornness and background, didn't deserve to die. They were only defending themselves. Z'Gato, on the other hand, she felt was being a big bone head. The energy blast itself, to her amazement, had left a barely noticeable singe of her blue armor. She had never really understood how it worked, only that the suit's alloys felt like her own skin; dense, alive and toughened over the years. Not just tough; resilient, like her. Strange as it was, that was how she felt about it. As the chaos itself settled, Jenosa noticed out of the corner of her eye the red head merc who's hand had a knife through. She grimaced; she had a strong stomach, but even she had to admit that this was a more uglier side to Travis. She knew she could be cold at times, but only in speech. Come to think of it, for someone who tried to avoid killing people as much as possible, why Travis hadn't cuffed or simply stunned him was beyond her. It was then her attitude went from outward frustration to genuine concern once she realized that Z'Gato had been fatally wounded. It hadn't been obvious to her at first, in fact it was quite a surprise considering all that armor of his; but she could see it in his face. "Hey, woh now, you can't quit on us just yet," she spoke to him, and added with humor, "I'm not done berating you." In some way, it was true. Despite the fact that she didn't exactly like how he always went about his life with such force, she enjoyed teasing him for that. More so, however, she had actually grown rather used to his quiet, medative company. She felt he wasn't that bad of a character; he just need to be slapped a couple of times in the right direction. The silence soon lingered once they brought Z'Gato, and it was only afterwards that Jenosa spoke up to him. "Hey, how you feeling now," she asked, glad that Travis had brought some emergency medical supplies. Z'Gato made a stubborn grunt that meant "I'm fine." "Good, glad to hear that," she replied with a pat to the back,"Because - and I mean no offense - for someone who says they're such a warrior, you sure can act like a thug sometimes. Like today." Stepping onto the monorail, Travis noted the mixed expressions of relief and frustration along Jenosa's face. He had a suspicion that the knew what she was thinking from examining his handiwork; and to be honest, he wasn't surprised. Even if he had spared the man's life, he had been considerably rough with the one mercenary; after all, the man had just screamed like a young girl as Travis dislocated his shoulder and pinned him to a table by his hand with the merc's own knife. It would have been a memorably brutal display. Still, thinking back, it was ironically probably the best thing he could have done at the time. Jack was shooting off his shotgun like a madman, and if he had tried to cuff the merc in the chaos the old war axe may have hit the redhead by mistake. And besides, none of the injuries he inflicted were permanent; sure, the knife wound would leave a nasty scar, but he had been sure to pin it where tendons wouldn't be severed; after a few months, the mercenary would likely be able to use his arm again. Still, despite all the confusion and chaos, Z'gato was alive and stable; that they all could be glad for. Even Jenosa seemed relieved that he was still breathing, and the chozo and she were practically akin to oil and water. "We're almost there..." He said with a note of anticipation, narrowing his eyes. "I'm switching to my wrist-cannon's stunner while we're in the facility. Now once we get out, we head to the designated spot and meet up with Alissa before we begin our sweep. Jenosa, I haven't forgotten the bit you mentioned before; if ANYONE sees earthy organic growths anywhere, abort and retreat. But, if all goes according to plan, I'm terminating the illegal experiments and we'll go after Delacroix and Jenkins. They'll likely be locking themselves down at the most secure locations in the facility, so obviously this won't be easy. Still... we finally can stop them. "Any questions?" Travis checked the timer in his visor interface: 1 minute left until arrival and initiation of the operation. |

Z’Gato was soon on his feet, still breathing a little heavily from the injection and the injuries that were quickly healing, but by the looks of things, he was in a far better condition to help carry out the mission. As good as the fresh air felt on his feathered face and lungs, he reached for his discarded helmet, securing it in place just as Jenosa aired her question of his health. He grunted, a more affirmative sound than he was used to giving her—one of mild distaste and dismissiveness—as he realized he was suddenly glad to still be among the living as well. She seemed to take that as an affirmation as well, feeling her armored glove pat him on the back. Then she spoke up about his actions—mostly today—and he shook his head. “Later. More important things to worry about,” he said, his voice a little raspy due to the soreness in his lungs. “I’ll… explain later,” he said, not altogether interested in talking about the subject. It was true—he had more honor than that, but his irritation had gotten the better of him—twice, actually—and he had his reasons. He did not care to share them with her at the moment, as he needed to keep his own mind focused on the task at hand as they boarded the monorail, slightly confused as to how the group had found it so quickly and managed to board it with such speed. Still, as Z’Gato prepared his suit and himself for the task ahead of them—they were cutting it close—The Chozo turned towards Travis as he spoke up, anticipation filling his battle brother’s voice, which was slightly alarming. Apparently, he was switching to his stunner, apparently still clinging on to the idea that they could pull this mission off with as few of deaths as possible. Z’Gato did not make any physical gesture, but he mentally sighed, grimacing behind his helmet. In a situation like this, there was no way that could be possible. Not to mention, his suit lacked such a non-lethal function; His suit was made for battle, and that was that. At the mention of Earthy and Organic growths, the bird man looked back over towards Travis—apparently, he had missed that part of the briefing. The bird man nodded his head all the same, not sure what to make of anything by that description, but he accepted it as silently as he did everything else. There was one thing that forced Z’Gato to speak up about, however—the illegal experiments. “Travis…” Z’Gato said, seriousness entering his voice. “You do realize the likelihood of clones or fetuses, yes? Are you to eliminate them as well?” Z’Gato asked aloud, suddenly feeling foolish for doing so. In a more private gesture, he let his suit transmit a communique directly to Travis’ suit—this one far more private. "If you have need... I volunteer to do so. My talons are already stained with much blood, and..." He said, having difficulty putting thoughts to words. "My stomach may be a bit stronger..." |

It was still quite dark in the control room, despite the emergency floodlights. Even without power, technicians were still scrambling all over the place, doing their best to handle the situation. For the moment, all Jimmy could do was to sit back and watch. Chatter on the radio revealed the full extent of the chaos. Mechs from the sky attacking the main entrance. Looked like the attack was on, although Jimmy certainly hadn't been expecting something on this scale. Already you had nearly every pair of boots in the whole place headed in that direction. But so far, all quiet from the back door. He took that as a sign that they were definitely coming through the back. Soon the power came back on, eliciting cheers from the crew. However, they weren't out of the woods just yet. It would take at least two minutes to get the computer systems back online, and that was provided that their saboteur hadn't mucked things up too badly. The cameras, on the other hand, were already working just fine. And they provided a nice visual aid to the battle up above. "How did we miss this?" Jenkins asked as he watched the screens. "We don't know, sir," replied one of the technicians. "It's possible they used the meteor shower as cover." "Well, we've solved the mystery then," Delacroix grumbled. "Hey, uh, I'm gonna go find a backpack for this or something," Jimmy said, holding up the case. "I'll be back." He started to leave, but Delacroix's non-response got him, so he turned around to find the man eying him suspiciously. "What? The place has already been sabotaged." With that, Jimmy disappeared out the door. Before Delacroix could order someone to follow him, Jenkins held up his hand. "Deal with him later," he said. "We've got bigger things to worry about." Delacroix bowed his head in resignation. "I suppose you're right," he said. Whether or not Jimmy was up to no good, and it was highly likely that he was, that didn't change the fact that the attack was on. Which meant that it might be time. "Get the Egghead on the line. Tell him to tell the girl to get ready." |

Jenosa nodded silently to Z'Gato's reply, quiet as it might have seem, she understood this probably wasn't the time and place for batter. She had known that was the case, but considering what had occured before, she had hoped bringing it up could help prevent more of those shinanigans. No, now just wasn't the time. As Jenosa stepped onto the tram, she felt her chest become heavy with the burdan of her life's hopes, dreams and, most of all, fears. This was it then, she thought, as if there had ever been a turning back point in all of this affair. This is what it all came down to, for down that dark, forboding tramway anything could await her. To Travis and Z'Gato, and even Alissa, this was simply an important mission; to Jenosa, it meant her life. And as the seconds ticked by, her anxiety, which had faded during their romp on the surface, return a tenfold. Not only that, but she could literally feel her heart pounding deep within her chest, becoming stronger and stronger - heavier and heavier - with every moment they approached the landing. It was like - she swore it like something was literally calling her from within this place. She decidedly shrugged off the feeling as only a result of personally needing to come here. And as she was the first of the tram, she she felt a brief wave of releif at the sight of see Alissa alive and well. Even if Travis had told her she had messaged them via coms, only see the real deal was enough to put her at some ease. Greeting her with the broadest grin ever, she walked up to Alissa and, in resisting the urge to hug, grasps on both shoulders in comradery. "Damn, you were really born to infiltrate top complexes like this. You really know how to stay hidden till the last moment, I see," she said, motioning to the unconscious soldiers. "Now then" she said with more seriousness, getting down to business, "I beleive this is yours." She handed Alissa the rest of her armor, which had been folded and placed as a back-pack on Jenosa. "And sorry we're late," she added, "traffic was hell." -------------------------- Armoria felt...vindicated. The few combat situation she had been through had tested her strengths and given her a taste of the battlefield. And while lacking in experiance, she had enough training to give her the skills she needed to properly wield her body and gear as the weapons they were made to be. She no longer held any questioning about herself or her life, for she knew with every fiber of her being that she was a soldier, eager awaiting her first assignment. Even more so, as she would pass about the facility between excersising areas, more often on her own free will (Unless otherwise under ordered) , she felt a certain ease in the air. It was a silent triumph in demonstrating her self-control, both through her interactions and in combat, over her phazon -enhanced state. Truthfully, she couldn't help but feel a certain sense of pride as she walked throughout what she considered 'home.' And then, without warning, as she was walking through the halls to do some exercise, everything went dark. Armoria looked about in complete surprise, and being able to see everyone else's aura with incredibly sharp distinction, she was able to discern through their body movement that this was not any standard procedure. She asked any of the surrounding scientists and guardsmen what was going on, and to her unease, they hadn't a clue. Not waiting around to be given commands but going to seek them out, she made her way back to the lobby where her new, more spacious room was. It was at the entrance she met Tamaki and the lights had come back on. "Armoria," she spoked, her voice steeped in seriousness, "Oujair wants you to suit and prep for combat ASAP. I'm not sure what's going, but he wants you ready for any orders shouted from Jenkins." Armoria's hands clenched into fists of eagerness, and with a salute, replied, "Yes ma'am." |
