The door exploded inward and an armed figure entered the room. "You might want to step away there, kiddo," which was followed by the whine of a weapon charging up.

Alissa had downloaded a small cracking program from her suits computer, hacking was not her specialty. And so she relied on her tools for things like that. She turned slowly, her movements controlled, economic. Her suit scanners scanned the armor beginning to outline weak points, targets for combat, joints where the limbs moves, where plates were joined. She noticed the external power pack, it didn't fit with the construction of the suit. Her attention shifted to the weapon as the scanners attempted to determine what exactly it would fire. She knew what ever it was at this range her armor would not to well against anything that size.

Then again there was something to be said for an air of confidence “Charges: trafficking in restricted technology, kidnapping, assault” came her voice, modulated to the point of sounding artificial “where is the hostage Jenosa Arma?” She did not move to attack however she did not stand down.

“Charges: trafficking in restricted technology, kidnapping, assault...” came the voice of the female silhouette, outfitted with her own form of armor. He looked it over quickly; it didn't take much to learn it was designed for flexibility and speed, not protection. In a sense, their suits were polar opposites.

What she said next made him tense. “Where is the hostage Jenosa Arma?”

~

Debris. Sand, sand everywhere. Burning.

Running. Panting. Screaming. Then, a voice. Below me.

Jenosa.

I held her in my hands. Hated myself for not being faster, stronger.

She spoke. Accosted me playfully about trying to be a "knight in shining armor."

I should have been.

Then, silence. Stillness. Coldness.

And Anger.

~

Faulias roared, lunging forward, his suit's thrusters forcing him as he collided with the woman. She tried to dodge out of the way, but with his anger and the added force of his thrusters he was just a bit too fast. His forearm caught her across the collarbone, pinning her to the wall behind her.

"Jenosa Arma is dead." he growled. "You'd better tell me what kind of fucking game you're trying to play before I squeeze it out of you."

Alissa found herself pinned against the wall face to face with a rather large and armored individual who was clearly angry. truth was she had not expected the man to react in that way to her demand for information. the motion had been enough to trigger her internal cybernetics, releasing the limiters that had been placed on her nervous system allowing her to move more quickly. as her attacker started to move she reached for the pistol at her hip moving quickly by the time her back hit the wall the weapon was pressed against the helmet at the temple.

“she was alive when spider took her this afternoon, shortly after attacking mr clark” she said calmly

as she spoke the plating that made up her armor began to shift, growing thicker in places providing more protection, the power enhancements augmenting strength as her other hand moved up gripping the wrist of the arm that held her in place.

------

in the computer system a small hacking program completed its task and disabled the jammer that had blocked communications for a while. static gave way to clear communications, and Alissa’s ship began getting the signal that Alissa was under attack.

**Black Bird to Arctic Storm....comminications is restored, Alissa is under attack, I will have access to the hotel security system, I will have a feed to the cameras shortly, please help to locate the hostage**

"What do I mean? I mean that little Jesus trick that she pulled," Delacroix replied, chuckling a bit. "I mean the alien plague that has infected her body. Twisting it, changing it. She's no longer Jenosa Arma, and she hasn't been for quite some time, even before she died it seems. So far, she has been able to control it and not the other way around. The only question is, how much longer will she be able to, and what will happen to her if it continues to advance?"

He downed the last of his drink and handed the empty glass to Angel Face, who promptly poured him another. "I have no desire to see Ms. Arma dead, you see. She's one of the most fascinating beings in the galaxy, and she has yet to reach her full potential, for better or worse." He grinned. "All those escaped experiments being hunted down by their creators... so short sighted. I say, let 'em run free. Observe them in a natural environment, no interference. Now you go on and take 'em out if they become a threat, of course. Otherwise, you're bound to be held responsible for whatever happens. But they're less likely to hate you if you let 'em spread their wings. Isn't that right, darlin'?"

Angel Face said nothing, merely giving him a smile. She glared at Clark, her eyes burning ever as intensely as his probably were behind that visor, daring him to try something.

"I am no murder, Mr. Clark," Delacroix went on. "I'm a businessman. I prefer to avoid bloodshed when I can. Everybody can walk out of here happy, it's entirely up to you. Hell, I'll even throw in Mr. Vega if you like. So... what's it gonna be? Do we have a deal or not?"

.......................

The metroid was still talking, threatening him, trying to anger him. This time, Spider spoke back.

"I may die," he said into the radio in his own language, "but Jenosa dies first. That I can promise you."

The Pirate was confident that it would not come to that but prepared to make his stand. If it came through that door, there would be little he could do apart from executing his hostage and then take whatever was coming to him. Still, the metroid could tear the hotel apart to his heart's content and he'd never find them. After all, he was looking in the wrong place.

Alissa had been closer. But she'd had some very specific intentions while she was in the basement. Either she'd never noticed or she simply never thought to investigate that one maintenance tunnel that led out of the hotel.

Faulias glared at the woman through his visor. She was well trained; probably not a mercenary by any means, more likely some sort of martial enforcement. Her cold nature was a result of her training, and he expected to get no answers from her.

"Clark?" he growled. "Clark was there when she died in my arms, girl. Don't try to fool me."

He could feel the pang of metal on metal as she thrust a pistol up against his helmet, as well as her hand on his wrist. He quickly shoved off the wall, skidding backwards as he pulled out his rifle again. He stayed in a kneeling position, rifle at the ready toward the woman whose pistol was still aimed at him.

"You're well trained, even if you are misinformed. What's your name?"

Alissa watched as Faulias threw himself back and drew his weapon again, she remained steady; weapon aimed for would at the least be a very dangerous shot if she were to pull the trigger. As Faulias moved she drew her second pistol, wishing for the moment that she had the heavy riffle she had left in the hall.

"You're well trained, even if you are misinformed. What's your name?"

Alissa was not in the habit of giving out her name to clearly identified enemies; just the same her mind ran through the list of answers she might give. At last an odd thought entered into her mind.

“In training they called me the can opener” there was an implied threat in that statement; she was trained for combat with heavily armored opponents.

“Ms. Arma’s identity has been confirmed by three previous associates, all of whom had the same reaction that you did” she studied the figure quietly for a moment “either way a hostage is in real danger and you are preventing me from completing my objective”

Travis sat there for what seemed to him like the longest moment in history.

It was all starting to click now, how Jenosa could possibly even be alive. Ever since he had read some of Constantine's first readouts of his scans, something had gnawed at him, and that was the abnormal makeup of some of Jenosa's cells; they were very much inactive as is notable with a state of death, but some alarming irregularities had been present in her system. He had brushed it off as a possible effect of her death (he wasn't a genetic biologist after all), but now that it had somehow resurfaced in the present, it had him thinking.

His eyes still bored through the visor with anger. Damn Delacroix, was he really going to leave him with that one option!?

No wait... he still had a choice here. Choices even. Although every choice involved held a certain gamble or risk.

"Businessman, huh...? I'd say more like a highly refined street dealer; smile on one hand, knife in the other, but perhaps that's just me. Well before I answer that propositon... let me ask you something Delacroix; you know an awful lot about Jenosa then I knew about her; you're a very thorough man aren't you? I wonder, and this is just a guess, but you've been watching us both for sometime haven't you been? What is it that you want from her? Is it the idea that she somehow possesses a key to immortality? Or something more? Come now, you are a good and gracious host as you've made yourself out to be aren't you? Do tell then."

Z'Gato's helmet immediately looked over at Deadeye Clark. Unlike the (in)famous bounty hunter, Z'Gato had no idea or clue how or why Jenosa Arma was still alive. He had doubted her integrity at first, suspecting her to be an imposter, but the more he heard of their conversation, the more the initial reason seemed less and less valid. But even then, what kind of techno-sorcery or scientific breakthrough had allowed Jenosa to come back from the dead? Either way, Z'Gato didn't like what was going on. Was Deadeye merely playing for time until Alissa could find Jenosa and free her, or was there something else that Deadeye was after? Even so, Z'Gato was--once again--at a loss of what to do. The choice was practically between Jenosa's life and securing the ice gun device from unworthy hands. Well, it was more than just that, it meant that such technology could end up running its full course, spreading to other weapon firms and gang thugs alike. Z'Gato couldn't allow that to happen, not with his own honor and the memory of his now dead race on his mind.

But at the same time, the thought of Jenosa coming to harm made his feathers stand on edge, his mind recoiling from the very idea. It was something he couldn't allow either. The indecision, however, was the worst case of all. He couldn't decide for himself, so having to defer to Deadeye was wracking at his nerves. Z'Gato was far more prone to just pure action, rather than talking, but even this seemed to slowly put his mind at ease, even though he would much rather be rendering these fools into mere stains on the ground, especially for their slander.

"Our hostage is in no real danger, unless you interfere. Besides, you just happen to be keeping me from completing my objective as well," Faulias said slowly. "You're putting that hostage in more danger just by being here." The scuffle had become a simple exchanging of words for the time being, but the tension in the air as weapons were aimed to kill foretold the spilling of blood. Whose blood it would be remained to be seen.

"That leaves us at an impasse, little miss 'Can Opener...' You want to interfere, and I cannot let you."

** Analysis complete…recommended focus of force on external power supply, presence of energy shielding; Melee attacks may be more effective. Alert Anomaly detected: there is a corridor in the basement that is not part of the plans on file**

"That leaves us at an impasse, little miss 'Can Opener...' You want to interfere, and I cannot let you."

Alissa studied the man quietly from her location considering her next move, he was correct, they had come to an impasse, neither wanted to initiate violence but they were unwilling to allow the other to move on to complete their objective, neither was likely to back down, which meant some one had to move first.

**logged, neural safeties disengaged 72 hours before neural stress effects performance**

Alissa felt her perspective shift, the world seemed to come into sharper focus, colors stood out more strongly, time seemed to contract, she became aware of her own breathing, the steady pace of her own heart rate. She moved with blinding speed, almost beyond what should be physically possible and certainly what was well past what was normally considered human. The cloak began to engage as she reached for one of the flashlight like handles at her hip, a switch flicked and a long narrow blade took shape from the handle, pale blue energy formed along it adding a dangerous sharpness to the already sharp blade, however her target was the barrel of the gun he had pointed at her, her goal was to disable not to kill.

After two steps she ran the blade into the barrel of the weapon before spinning and bringing her foot around for a kick with the same intended force that she had used to propel herself from one rooftop to another, mechanically augmented sending even more force towards her targets head.
