"I'm... not your typical AI, you should know, Alana." Constantine replied, taking a long breath if holograms could. "But I suppose a woman as intelligent as yourself if is smart enough to realize this."

He paused, as if pensively processing his thoughts. "I... am a GI; a Gate Intelligence; perhaps you've heard of the phenomena, perhaps not; let me assure you, they are very real... I'm... uh... living proof of it."

"As for the question? I wasn't trying to ignore it, sorry... it's just that I must confess I was skeptical that Jenosa was alive until you said it; nay, PROVED it with your findings. To be honest with so much going on I haven't had time to think about much of anything in that regard. All I can tell you in regards to her is that Travis met her on that blasted sand world. Honestly, that is all I know of her past. I know you were the coroner she was assigned to and I know that her biology is a wonder of the day, but I must also ask, why so interested? How close have you two become? Better yet, since you were there... why is it that you've not mentioned the details of her ressurection? I saw the wound myself though Travis' HUD cam you know... it wasn't pretty. He held her in his arms as she died... did you know that?"

"I'm headed to your position, Spider. Any suggestions?"

"Never mind my position," came Spider's reply to Faulias. "It would appear we have some sabotage. Get that one and separate it from the rest of the herd, then put it down before it can infect anything else." The Pirate spoke with a sense of urgency. Alissa had already gained control of a number of the building's systems. Were she to get the cameras and the security codes, that was bad news for all of them.

"Remember, the boss wants to talk with them, so try not to bring down the entire hotel." With that, Spider terminated the transmission.

........................

Back at his location, Spider's prisoner was waking up.

Jenosa Arma was tied to a chair, with duct tape across her mouth. She was inside a dimly lit maintenance room, although that didn't tell her very much about where she actually was. The big Pirate loomed over her, blocking out most of what little light there was. He didn't appear to be armed save for an apparatus on his wrist that looked to be a deactivated energy scythe.

"We would prefer not to have to kill you," Spider said to her. "I cannot guarantee that, however. That is up to the rest of them. What I can do though is untape your mouth and let you speak if you agree to cooperate. Just nod yes if you agree."

........................

The suite itself was unguarded, easily identifiable by the ornate double doors in the dead center of the hallway. Inside, scanners could pick up two energy signatures, both human, one male, one female. Both seated in the living room, apparently just waiting there. And something else. The hunters might all perceive it differently. For Travis, it would show up as readings on his instruments, elevated radiation levels and that unique signature that could only come from one source. For Omega, perhaps it was more akin to a tingling on the back of his neck, or maybe he really did "smell" it. Either way, it could only be one thing.

Phazon. And definitely coming from the woman.

"Hold up," Travis commented as he prowled the halls. "Two guards leaving the building now; blue-collars, they aren't packing anything heavily that I can tell, let's let them leave."

The armored hunter used the shadows to his advantage, the lighting of his suit seeming to vanish into the dark to allow the shadow to conceal the armored hunter; certainly not a cloaking generator, but it prevented his electronics from giving him away immediately. Travis watched as the two guards went down the emergency stairwell, both brandishing emergency flashlights. Both of these men obviously had no idea what was going on; they were probably checking for anyone who was still trying to defy the evacuation order due to the power outage.

It felt like old times, being back in the commando elites; operating in darkness, striking where least expected and vanishing without a trace.

But Travis was soon snapped back to reality. Turning the corner he viewed an internal balcony that contained a foyer; probably just a focal point; a place where guests and locals could meet and mingle. With the darkness, it was empty and shadowed, with nothing more then faint skyline light creeping in onto the wooden panel flooring.

Or at least it should have been; Travis saw what was clearly the form of a humanoid skitter down a hallway and down the corner. From just a brief glance he discerned that the figure was armed, and moving with urgency. He looked at his HUD and checked the markers tracking the positioning of the two other armor clad hunters, if Z'gato was right next to him, and there truly was nobody in the building but they and Delacroix's men...

Alissa.

"Alissa, finish up ASAP and get on the move, I just saw some guy packing heavy firepower heading down the hall on the floor below and I think he's heading your way! Get out of there as quick as you can and meet with me."

He quickly zipped up another pair of stairs and went the right, watching Z'gato shadowing him to assure they weren't being tailed. He was fully alert now, all the scanners on his suit fully active.

What happened next wasn't anything he was expecting of course.

As he approached the door to the top suite, Travis' systems could detect two humanoids onside; one male, the other female... and one of them had to either be Delacroix or a double. But that wasn't what had his attention completely; rather, what caught Travis' alarm was *that message* appearing.

Why would *that message* be on there? He hit the helmet just assure he wasn't misreading it; he wasn't.

[PHAZON RADIATION DETECTED.] was written across the visor.

The woman's signature immediately had a cyan aura added to her.

"So that's what Vega meant about her being deadly..." Travis muttered to himself. "Omega, I know you can probably sense what I'm seeing; I don't know if you know what that is or not, but if this turns into a fight, she is targeted first."

He leaned forward and, looking at Z'gato, knocked on the door before waiting.

This was supposed to be a meeting after all.

All the while, Z'Gato kept a keen eye out for any others who might be tailing them, but his scanners and his own senses betrayed the presence of none of them. Unlike Travis' sophisticated sensor suite, Z'Gato was not able to detect individuals or presences through walls or buildings, but his focused more on visible threats, his scanners more specialized at picking out enemy weaknesses and strengths. Even though he was a bounty hunter, his armor was built for assaults and attacks, not for slinking around in the darkness. It undermined his warrior honor.

However, this was the mission, and he would not threaten Jenosa's life needlessly. He had no idea why, her life meant nothing to him, or at least that was what he told himself. Even now, his heart seemed to race when he thought of harm coming to her, his primal rage building up in his gut, kept in check by his own warrior discipline. That discipline, however, had been eroded somewhat in the last few years, resulting in his beam tightly clamped together in irritation as he followed Travis through the darkness.

He heard Deadeye Clark mutter something to himself, piquing the avian warrior's curiosity, but his gaze did not wander from his role in this comical pairing. No one in sight. Z'Gato's eyes narrowed in confusion and suspicion. He should have expected at least somekind of resistance or guards, but none seemed to be present. Did they just happen to enter this place when the duty was lax, or did their enemy truly perceive and anticipate their movements? Either one did not sit well with the Chozo warrior.

Z'Gato shared a look with Travis as they neared a door, what little the Chozo could see of his face did not comfort the warrior in the least. Something was wrong. However, Travis knocked on the door before them, as if they were merely walking up to a friend's house or something. Z'Gato made a low grumble, irritated at such tactics. He brought up his cannon just in case...

(OOC: This post is going to be a bit short, as I want to get it down before anything else happens. I'm mainly doing this right now because I feel that...a few characters have a little too much insurance. So let's raise the tension a small bit, shall we. I'll probably post more later.

Hope you guys don't mind ;))

"Alissa, finish up..." was all that Alissa ever heard before her comm was filled with complete static.

Whether she would guess it or not, a short ranged jamming device had been initiated, encompassing pretty much the entire basement section that she was in. In truth, it was a hidden, isolated hotel security feature for the computer systems, meant to cut off communication from any outside hacking sources when intrusion was detected, as well as regular comms. Only special devices worn by some security guards could speak through the disruption like it weren't there, although it required them to punch a special code so as to prevent it from being used by any intruders.

In other words, unless Alissa could find where in the basement this device was concealed, she was, metaphorically, essentially cut off from the rest of the group.

Nausewell noticed the drones just before they made impact, and he made a greatly, distorted, rasping, alien voice of pain as and anger as they hit him like bullets. They even seemed to put a few holes around the sides of his body, and it certainly left Nausewell ticked off, and desperate. The android's persistance was actually paying off, and although Nausewell still had a good amount of energy left, the rate the drones were attacking him would soon cause him to crumble. Metaphorically cornered, his instincts and will to protect the scientists on this expedition overrode protocols. Nausewell as, for all intensive purposes, actually put into a corner.

Almost all at once, after dishing out several impacts, the many of the drones began to malfunction, as if...being given confused signal. They shifted and rotated around Nausewell instead of directly attacking him Then, quickly after that these drones attacked one another, creating a sort of shield to block them from hitting Nauswell anymore.

Some broke, and others turned, and in the end, only a small handful of them were left, their little spherical shells floating in the air before Nauswell. There was something weird and alive about them. Nauswell gathered them in his hand, and threw them in Ra's direction before running off.
OOC: Sorry for the long delay, University and life has been finding more reasons for me to hate both. I'll keep this short and hopefully post more frequently now.

IC: Even as the drones were thrown back at Ra, the android let loose another stream of the drone weapons; the sounds of buzzing electricity suggesting he was trying to deal with the first barrage. Yet another unknown power the "human" was displaying.
The drones shot from the staff and instantly redirected themselves from their intended target into the handfull of reprogrammed interceptors. The two groups impacted upon one another simultaneously trying to absorb and destroy each other's energy leading to the expected results.

The small explosion threw Ra onto his back, landing heavily on the sand. There was the sound of gunfire and running footsteps from nearby, and he suddenly found himself being hauled upright and shoved forwards. Considering the lack of any gun being pushed into his back he was going to assume the group who had found him were the Ar'c. "I am blind" he blurted out as he was pushed forwards "my eyes are gone, I cannot see what you are trying to say!"

He could only imagine the frustrated gestures the mute soldiers must have making to one another. He had shown he was able to take down half a patrol and several tanks on his own and yet he had been defeated by a single person. It was almost humiliating to think about, no matter how one sided that fight had been.
Ra felt one grab him by the arm and begin dragging him forwards, the others apparently moving to flank them, the sounds of their footsteps occasionally interrupted by the crack of gunfire.

They were too close to the ruins to fail now. They needed to bring the shield down in time, no matter the cost.

The door swung open and they were greeted by the woman, the same woman who had confronted Alissa on the rooftop earlier. She glanced at them and smiled, and without a word opened up the door wider for the two of them to enter.

"Mr. Clark," a voice said from the darkened suite behind her. "Very pleased that you could make it. And you as well, sir. I'm afraid I don't know who you are, but I know what you are. Please, come in."

The voice belonged to a tall man dressed in a white suit. He walked with a cane, the result of a limp in his right leg, and spoke with a thick accent that traced his roots back to a bayou somewhere. He slowly hobbled up to Travis and held out his hand to shake.

"My name is Delacroix," he said, pronouncing it "-craw" rather than "-croy" and stretching out the "-aw" almost as far as it would go. "Pleasure to meet you. Now if you would please get the lights back on and have a seat so we can talk."

Travis reluctantly took the hand. "Unfortunately, the lights won't be on for some time, so we'll have to improvise..."

Scanning around the room he found a wire, and adjusted the output of his beam. He took aim, and shot; the light turned on, allowing everyone to at least see each other. Travis lowered his arm and relaxed it.

"Now then, Mr. Delacroix, I must ask... why do you want that thing so badly?" Before he could continue, another blip came through on the visor. "And if I may ask, what is your involvement between you and one Rex Vega?"

He watched as the message faded on the HUD but he knew what it meant; the minutes had passed, and Vega had not yet arrived at the nearest precinct; something was probably going on.

Jenosa made a frustrated growl as her mouth was taped shut, anger literally flaring blue in her opal green eyes. While being tied up wasn't a fun thing, and capture was to be expected in her kind of job, she personally hated being restrained in generally, metaphorically if not physically. After all, it was the freedom that was one of the biggest reasons she had become a bounty hunter in the first place; and one of the biggest, if not one of the fewest, reasons for her to have what closely resembled a grudge.

The expression on her face, however, briefly changed to that of bemusement becoming a wary, almost inhuman glare. Had she heard him right? Or had his blow dazed her more than she thought? No, she assured herself, she was thinking clearly even though her head throbbed like a drum; in this situation, by reflex she had to. And if they did have a preference in keeping her alive for some reason, why? To her, the bomb they had sent as a warning read to her as, "We'll kill you without even batting an eyelash."

She seriously doubted they had a change in mind, and while she could only guess a few, one of them sent chills down her spine. But, she thought reassuringly, that should be impossible; a thought that still didn't help ease her.

This entire thought process occurred in the time it took for her expressions to change. And while Jenosa took a large distaste to the idea cooperating given her current treatment - even if it could have been a lot worse - she had very little options. Even if she could get free of her bindings, Spider himself would easily overpower her.

At least...that's what she kept telling herself, yet her gut and 'instincts,' in what felt like a bizarre contradiction to survival instincts, seemed to think otherwise. She seriously doubted she had augmented strength or speed suddenly, yet a feeling coursed through her body that she could actually take on this guy on, one-on-one, on even footing.

She ignored these feelings because of how alien they were, yet that description became blurred as they roiled in the back of her mind. Even so, at the very least, nodding would get rid of the damn tape.

Finally, after good stare in thought, she nodded with only a smidge of reluctance. "Alright," she spoke immediately, "why is it so special that you guys want me alive? Because I strongly doubt it's not because I'm a woman."

Alana pursed her lip in deep thought as she stared at Constantine hologram through her cyan blue eyes, feeling as though she was in a precarious situation even though she was in no real danger. While the...A.I. - or G.I, or whatever it called itself was – seemed friendly enough, she honestly wasn't sure about telling him anything of the event that she had exprianced. Sharing what she had seen with...an electronic entity that seemed to hold a human mind was a troubling idea, mainly because, as of the moment, Constantine seemed so much more of a stranger to her now. She had assumed him as an A.I. with a few funny quirks or well done subroutines, and, of course, under Travis's commands.

Except that he had acted more than just that, and now he said he wasn't an A.I. at all. While she approved his apparent, open honesty, she felt mildly skeptical about him now. If she was going to get anything about Jenosa out, she had to get more about who Constantine really was.

Sigh, she explained, “First, like you, everything had moved unexpectedly fast for me. One moment I'm waiting with Jenosa at the Cafe to do a little show and tell for Travis, the next I'm chasing after the two frantically. Afterwords, it didn't seem like...an ideal time for ghost stories; but”-she said, brushing one of her locks aside - I have to admit, the 'event' that I experienced has been nagging me ever since I've witnessed it.”

“Even so,” she continued, “I honestly can't just tell this to anyone, and quite frankly, you're honestly a stranger to me, and, after a harrowing stroll in the back alleys. I really need to know who you are. Because frankly, I'm baffled that you needed ME to confirm your suspicions, since Jenosa WAS physically on this ship; and, more over, I'm specialize in biology, not computers, so I have no idea what a G.I. Is?”
"I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams is something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. “Alissa, finish up...” Static was followed by the ending of the transmission, the first message that flashed across her screen was that the signal had been lost, the second was that she had lost her signal with her ship. Alissa paused in her movement along the hallway on the main floor where she had exited the elevator shaft. A strange sensation settled over her, in her whole life there had always been some one, something to communicate with, an A.I. To feed her information, Control to deliver orders, even in stasis there were the others. For the first time in her life Alissa was truly and honestly alone, and found it unsettling. Finding a cleaning closet Alissa pushed the door open and stepped inside taking a deep breath. She had never before considered how comforting the constant support of her ship had been since her escape, even before she knew the AI had become self aware.

***Jamming signal detected...attempting to locate source***

she took a deep breath for a moment and held it...the suits computer had taken over support, it had been seamless of course. And now it was working on a solution to her problem. There was no telling if every one was effected by the jamming signal or if it was just her. Communication was far too important to simply ignore. Not only for her safety but that of the whole team, and Alissa found she cared about what happened to the rest of them...another almost alien thought to her.

***transmission located...plotting course***

Alissa placed her pistol back at her hip feeling it clip in place before she reached back pulling the riffle from her back. The weapon would sync with her suits computer, providing information on energy levels, ammunition, and the state of the particle accelerator as well as targeting information. It was likely overkill, the thing was designed for heavy armor and cyborgs but needed its sensors, the stream of information.

She engaged her cloak before moving out of the room towards the source of the interference, holding to the shadows, the camouflage was not perfect after all, not that the powerless building was not very nearly all shadow at the moment.

Some where in orbit the blackbird was cloaked and waiting for a signal from its operator for extraction. A newly aware AI spread out in its digital domain and monitored everything that happened on the ground. It had spread tendrils into the hotels fire suppression system. It was about this time that it lost contact with Alissa, all contact save the heartbeat sensor that told the ship Alissa was alive. And unlike Alissa...the AI had heard the whole message from travis.

** Officer Achillies...respond**

even with radio silence the two were never separated like this, the AI was always there to help

**Officer Achillies report**

They had encountered jamming devices before, when the planned for them, or deployed their own, they always used a special transmitter, but they didn't use it when it wasn't needed, that wasn't procedure.

**Operative 327 respond***

the AI had tried cycling frequencies, it knew the suit would do the same till they ran out or it found a way through.

** Alissa.....are you there?**

panic was not something the AI could experience, however without Alissa, the AI's primary function would no longer be valid...the AI needs the Operative

switching to the com channel the AI knew the Arctic storm to be using and dropping the encryption it used for comminication with Alissa it reached out.

**Blackbird calling Arctic storm...I have lost contact with Ms Achillies...are you in contact with the rest of the team?**

The voice Constantine would hear would be clearly artificial, female, but also clearly synthetic. With the cool even tone used for computer systems, rather than the more natural tones often applied to AI's
