["Constantine, this is Z'Gato. Our...friend...suggests that we speak with you and Travis. This hotel is believed to be a trap, so we will need to flush out our enemies somehow. Perhaps you might have some sort of information as to where our enemies draw their technology and resources from for their...perversion of Chozo weapons. Travis...I assume you are on this frequency as well?"] "Go ahead, Z'gato." Travis replied. "And you say it may be a trap? Probably is... that's a good idea, now that you mention it. But how do we get his attention is the question." ["Well, we could always attempt to use the weapon as collateral,"] Constantine suggested. ["It is what Delacroix seeks, after all."] "No, too risky." Travis shook his head profusely. "At the moment given our lack of leads, I'm not sure what we can- say, Z'gato... why do you so suddenly feel it to be a trap with such certainty? Did something happen on you and Omega's end?" He turned back to Jenosa. "What's your input, Jenosa?" And then a thought came to him. "Say, where's Alissa? We haven't heard from her yet. I know women take a bit more time to attire then men in some cases, but it is taking her an awful long time to prepare... Is she with you two?" Edited by Deadly Aim, Feb 15 2011, 10:37 PM.

Alana bowed her head in thanks to her gracious host, "Why thank you! I haven't had lunch yet." however, as the doctor made her way to the fridge, she sidled on Jenosa's side and whispered skeptically, "You really haven't told him anything about how you came back? He doesn't seem in anyway suspicious of your character." Jenosa shook her head subtlety, just as bemused as Alana was. "No, and I know it's odd; he just seems so happy to see I'm alive; or rather - relieved. It's like he took my death as it were his own fault." "Maybe that's just it," she replied back quietly, and made her way to the fridge. The red head contemplated what Alana meant, and in a way, it did make sense; him seeing her alive in spirit must have certainly made his own spirit rise. Yet what bothered Jenosa about this wasn't just how Travis had accepted her death as his own fault; but rather how he seemed to treat her like an old comrade. She liked his personality and everything when they had met, but they had barely gotten to know each on the desert planet; mostly a couple of group talks, but barely any shoulder-to-shoulder combat. Only enough time for her to know Travis would be friendly enough to help her get a few things in order. So why such the attitude towards? she pondered as she glanced at Travis in the short moment of silence. Did her character leave some kind of impression on him before (Which seemed very possible); or was it some innate chivalry that made him passionate in working alongside fiery hot chicks? She chuckled inwardly at this idea, but in truth, she hadn't worked alongside many individuals, and while she didn't enjoy Travis trying to protect her, it was nice to have his company in combat. Speaking of which, she was feeling eager to get this job done and over with; and perhaps fast enough that Z'Gato will have forgotten about her being alive. Travis, on the other hand, she felt deserved to know some of the truth, at least in due time. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like they were going to have the time right now to reminiscent, as she noted by the speaker crackling in the ship. She blinked, bemused that Z'Gato (And Omega at that) considered it was a trap; true, that was one very likely possibly all considering they were being followed to begin with. But - she never had enough time to give Z'Gato any forewarning of such an event and she had assumed Omega was, at the very least, cautious about going into dangerous areas. Yet Z'Gato and Omega considering the place to be a trap of all things? That didn't make sense unless... "As it stands, I'm very curious in what actually gave these guys that notion," Jenosa replied, "not that there really is much of an option but to go in. As far as I can see, we're not going to be pulling any kind of new leads out of thin air any time soon. Sometimes the best option is simply walking into the trap, and then walk out." |

"Negative, Alissa transmitted her location not too long ago. It's possible she is scouting out the place," Z'Gato replied over his communicator, occasionally pacing around as the conversation continued, his impatience starting to build. "And don't ask me why I think this is a trap, the...creature...seemed incredibly adamant about it, and asked me to contact you. I could honestly care less if it was a trap or not, they will suffer all the same. Since we don't have another lead, the best course of action in this state is to trigger the trap and attack with full fury. "If that...woman is with you, Travis, tell her I will still want answers--after this 'job' is over. Until then, I will not trust the dead," Z'Gato finished. |

The woman in black yelped in pain as the stun baton hit her side and zapped her flat on her back, her gun coming loose from her grip and skidding across the roof. She was not, however, stunned. She quickly got to her feet, the dark shades she was wearing sitting askew on her face. Tossing them aside, her bright blue eyes locked right on Alissa... and it might have been a trick of the light, but for a second it seemed as if her eyes flashed. She charged at Alissa, and as the other woman swung the baton again she grabbed her wrist, attempting to wrench the weapon out of her hands with a strength that was unexpected - perhaps even unnatural. .......................... Rex gathered up his cards and reshuffled the deck, and then on a pure whim dealt out a hand, like he was playing a video poker machine but with real cards. But when he saw what he had dealt, his blood ran cold. Aces and eights, the Dead Man's Hand. Every gambler from Earth to the rim knew the story. For most, it was nothing more - just another impossibly cool Wild West legend. But for someone like Rex, to whom Lady Luck was a core piece of his existence, he couldn't help but see it as an omen. He remembered back when he was a freshman in high school. Grace was a senior then, so she'd drive him home after school. Which was just fine with Rex - after all, they did go to a Catholic high school, so she was wearing That Uniform. One day as they were headed home, they were stopped at a light and a raven landed on the hood of Grace's car. She freaked out and honked the horn to scare it away. At first, Rex thought she was afraid of the bird, but then she told him that it was an omen. He thought she was nuts. Then less than a week later Jimmy and Ronnie killed one of Gio Carsolinni's guys over something that was long forgotten about by both sides. The war that followed between Henry and Carsolinni didn't end until after Rex graduated. Rex gathered up his cards and stuffed the deck back in his pocket, now thoroughly spooked. No sooner had he done that then an alarm started going off inside Travis's ship. Someone was trying to cut through the hull. |

The stun baton was standard issue for a reason, it was easy to use and phenomenally effective which would explain the feeling of surprise as the woman who had just been struck sprung to her feet with more speed than Alissa thought the woman should be able to muster. Alissa's eyes held the womans as they stood there on the roof together, and there was just a moment where she thought she saw the woman's eyes flash. this seemed odd to her, she had seen another person display that trait recently, though she had yet to figure out what the context was. The thought however was distraction, the woman in black had started to charge at Alissa, too late she started to swing again with her weapon her wrist being caught by the other woman with surprising strength. Alissa found herself in an unfavorable position. though she knew she was strong enough to get out of this situation she lacked leverage that she needed. she moved back a bit to try to disengage from her attacker and gain a measure of control over the fight and found quite suddenly that she had run out of rooftop. Alissa tried to push off what little space she had left, her boot slipped on the ledge and sent her leg out into space, the force of being pushed sent her tumbling backwards over the edge. The baton was released, maybe as reflex, maybe because the woman in black had managed to wrench it from her hand, but it was falling towards the ground below and so was Alissa. Scrambling she reached out and her caught the rail of a balcony a couple floors down the sudden stop wrenched her shoulder a bit, and her body slammed into the outside of the structure, but she wasn't falling any more. she glanced down to see the baton hit the ground and shatter, the nanites scattering inert, the weapon would be useless but no one else would be able to use it either. she pulled herself up and took a breath before moving to climb up the outside of the building, moving quickly, she knew to try to go up through the inside of the building would take too long. however as she reached the roof once more her attacker had vanished, the only sign of the exchange being the gun where it had stopped after flying from the womans hand...and a pair of sunglasses, which Alissa picked up slowly as she replayed the events of the last few minutes in her mind. |

"What the hell?" Travis snapped to attention as an alarm blared throughout the ship. "Travis, there is somebody outside trying to cut into the hull. I'm engaging the shields!" Constantine had been quick to respond, engaging the shields to prevent anymore of the nuisance probing. Meanwhile, Travis had been just as quick to respond: opening the top hatch instead of the ramp, Travis jumped onto the roof and flipped in the air before landing behind the saboteur. "HANDS UP!" He shouted, aiming the wrist cannon at his target with long practiced deftness. "Try to run and I'll shoot you." |

Jenosa's furrowed her brow when she heard Alissa was not with them, wondering briefly with both suspicion and curiosity about the where-about of the white-haired woman. She was still a stranger to her and everyone else here, especially considering her unusual inhuman nature; although mentally she wasn't sure. Physically, she certainly appeared to be an augmented human - and in a way, Jenosa reflected with a perturbing sensation, like her; a profound blur between human and inhuman, each aspect intermingling with one another, on such a deep level, until they had become...something else. Yet for all of her suspension that began when they first met, Jenosa wasn't sure what to make of ALissa's mentality. At first her demeanor was so neutral she looked to be some kind of agent, perhaps working for someone, but then there were the oddity at the interrogation and just before the woman left. She honestly wasn't sure what to make of her character; and that the most bothersome part about her lack of presence. Her thoughts on this where interrupted by Z'Gato's last phrase before he shut off. "Well," she muttered, "looks like someone won't be forgetting about me for a while. But," she added in a more enthusiastic tone, "at least he's got the right idea. Let's try to-" She was interrupted again by sound of alarms, which immediately set her on edge. By complete reflex, she took a defensive posture, with white orbs of energy materializing in the palm of each hand; despite their pulsing nature, she held them in her grasp like they were physically snowballs. They even felt both potent and solid to her, and she looked about warily for any danger, ready to literally throw the suckers at anyone. At the same time, her sixth sense extended itself greatly, somehow augmented by her suit. "What the heck?!" she called out when she didn't know what was happening. Travis's A.I. informed them on the situation, and oddly enough, Jenosa made a mischievous grin. "Is that so? Well it looks like we should give our guests a welcome then. The sphere's of energy dissipated from her hands, but the sensation still coursed through fingers in eager anticipation to 'stretch'. Yet as they neared the hatch, a realization rippled through her body that momentarily gave her a troubled face mixed with seriousness. she wasn't just going into a possible gunfight, she was going into a fight where she was, without a doubt, going to find herself wanting to let her mind get enraptured by her alien senses and instincts; just as she did with the adrenaline rush. And with each passing moment of danger, she yurned more and more to do this; to let her mind attune to the energy and the suit. Where this would take her, and who she would become as a result, was what frightened her the most. Yet, as she closed her eyes, she knew there was no turning back now, and there was no way she was going to abandon her life as an independent woman. Never would she give up the life she was leading, and, clenching her fists as she walked onto the hull, she knew she would have to put up with all of this somehow, someway. She was determine to win this fight inside of her just as she was on the outside. |

Omega's red underline eye slits narrowed in frustration. He was getting annoyed by Z'Gato's behavior. He was acting against everything he was taught about Chozo culture. Furthermore, he was badmouthing a dear friend of his, Jenosa Arma. The woman saved his life once when he was in dire need of his friends. He had enough. So swift he was to catch the warrior off guard, he backhanded the warrior mightily with the intent of knocking him on his tail. There was a loud metallic crack that was sent across the transceiver which echoed through Travis' ship and in his helm. Almost in the same move, the creature was on his target. His left hand grabbing the muzzle of the arm cannon, the right clamping on the top edge of the breast plate. Omega lifted him off the ground and slammed him into the wall. "I will not accept you badmouthing my friend!" he screeched. His face was only inches away from Z'Gato's faceplate expressing an alien rage that was rare to be seen. "That is Jenosa Arma. Now, you want to talk about strength and might? I'll have you know, since you clearly don't already, I am a Metroid! "I have the power to wipe out civilizations. I have the strength to destroy all life and wreck this entire planet! If I wanted you dead right now, I would have used my claws. Your mind is so clouded with rage, you would not have survived an instant. Now, listen very closely. I wanted to teach you that there is more to life than strength and anger. "I know what its like to be alone," he continued angrily after shaking his quarry once against the wall and baring his fangs. "I was the last of my kind. I forgave my mother because she was tricked by the Pirates into wiping us out. "When I was on Ceres Colony, I learned that humans can be nice. They fed me. They kept me warm. We played games. They were nice to me! "Jenosa is a human that saved my life," he explained while his expression of anger began to subside. "My senses do not lie. She is who she says she is. I respect you for being a Creator, but I will NOT tolerate you insulting what is mine. "I am Omega-Alpha Aran. Pleased to meet you." With that, he dropped the grip on the Chozo leaving him on his feet. His body was trembling with rage while at the same time he was saddened that his creator would be such a jerk and forgo the peaceful ways of the warrior. "I would like to be your friend," he pleaded. All of this was being transmitted through Constantine from Z'Gato's radio so the others heard everything. "We can fix that feeling of being alone. Let me help you, Creator!" |

The sheer might of the creature had taken Z'Gato completely off-guard. He should have known better than to show his back to someone he did not fully trust, and he came to regret that decision as he was picked up like nothing more than a rag-doll, slammed into a wall as if the sheer weight of his armor meant nothing to the creature. Z'Gato clenched his teeth in anger as this thing started yelling at him, the Chozo warrior contemplating just firing a Super Missile at this range, which honestly probably would have done nothing against that creature since it was tougher than it looked. His energy blade in his left arm was a tempting option, but when the creature claimed to be a Metroid, Z'Gato's eyes narrowed and the warrior decided to finally listen to this creature's tale. When the creature finally let him go, the warrior made an aggravated growl in his throat, his mind already contemplating using the Ice beam on this creature while he still could, but he stayed his hand, for no other real reason than the fact that he had heard the name 'Aran' before. A small piece of his brain jogged his memory, but he could not place where he had heard the name before, why he had heard the name, or why the name left him so ANGRY. He cast it from his mind, however, keeping his arms raised as if expecting another attack from the creature. This...thing...was adamant about Jenosa's credibility, and while Z'Gato still had his doubts--damnit, he watched the woman die!--he decided to give his ear to the creature. Z'Gato then noticed his Heads-up-display, noticing the communicator was still transmitting, and contemplated cutting the transmission, but he looked back over at the creature. Z'Gato still expected the creature to fly into another rage, much as Z'Gato probably would have done in a similar situation. "I watched that woman die on another planet. I had tried to save her, but she died. You may believe that she is one and the same as your savior, but I am not completely convinced. People do not just come back to life on a whim, and I desire to know why she now stands again on her own feet," The warrior said. The creature was strong, but Z'Gato was stubborn; He would not relinquish his opinion quite that easily, even if he had to fight this abomination. "But you speak of solitude and suffering that is the same as mine; However, yours is different than the nightmares I wake to every night. I will accept your company, but know that I bear a grim burden and a grim fate, metroid. "We can continue this later. We have prey to find." Edited by DarkKnightCuron, Feb 22 2011, 01:47 PM.

Alissa found herself standing on the roof alone once more, the slight twinge in her ribs from where she had been shot the only real remaining sign that anything had happened. Alissa looked down to the glasses in her hand a moment before moving over and picking up the weapon that had been left behind as well. the woman had left in a hurry, that much was a certainty. "Computer....Diagnostics of suit systems" "Suit systems are functioning at optimal efficiencies, damage sustained is 99% repaired, scanning and tracking systems are functioning normally, all systems nominal" Alissa looked to the items she was holding a moment starting towards her vehicle that was still located on the roof " how did they get behind me?" Alissa asked herself though the computer responded. "systems did not detect an approach, it is unknown at this time what allowed the assailant to get so close" Alissa stayed silent as she dropped the items into a small locker on the back of the bike quietly, never mind her systems, Alissa had on more than one occasion encountered an enemy who could advance without being detected by sensors, but there was always a sound, a vibration in the ground, something that Alissa had picked up on, in the whole of Alissa's life, an enemy had never approached from behind without being detected, what did this mean? The simple solution was that the woman was better than Alissa, but then how was Alissa still alive, how had Alissa managed to disarm the woman, it didn't add up. The second solution was that Alissa herself was not operating at her peak, that she was some how flawed, but what had changed? her senses were still as keen, her reflexes just as sharp...she is exactly as strong, and fast, and aware as she was the moment she departed from her previous life...so what was it?" The answer was of course right in front of her and inwardly she scolded herself when she realized what had happened; she was distracted. Not much, no more than a normal person who had been having her day might have been, her mind had been going over what they learned from Vega, what she had seen of the technology, the bomb, the plan, just little things running at the edges of her mind. most of her attention had been on scanning the suite, looking for their target, scouting.....and that part of her mind that normally would have been blank to be aware of the approach of an enemy was busy, it could have gotten her killed..should have. this was why people worked in teams, this was why every mission had some one removed from the location as control, to allow the operative to simply exist in the moment, stepping outside of that was dangerous, and she was doing it again. she closed her eyes and took a deep breath focusing her thoughts on the mission at hand, external concerns could be dealt with after the mission was finished. she moved over looking towards the suite again and sent a message to the group again stating she was in position, waiting on the rest of them. |
