If you're a returning member, no, your account has not been deleted, we've actually changed board since you were last here. just go ahead and register, PM one of the staff, let us know you're here, and we'll get right to work converting your information and post count from the old board. Keep in mind that any RPs running on the old site are probably still there, so if you don't see them here, just check the 'Home' Page, and follow the link back to the old board. |

This is the Place for IRC walkthroughs and Guides. If something is not clear... PM the author of the guide. I intend to write three, One for Java IRC, Mirc and Chatzilla. If there are any particular topics you would like me to introduce, PM me and I will run over them... hahhaa... *Cough* Alright, in order to be able to talk on IRC from here on out, you will need a Registered Nickname. How do you register your nick? How do you use IRC? Clueless? Well here is my guide. Ok, So we all know Reality’ S Exile has a Chat room... But is it worth the time or the effort? That is up to you, but I intend to make it take a little LESS time and effort... First off, you need a client to connect to IRC. There are many types, but we’ll only cover a few:
Java IRC will launch you right into the correct Server while Chatzilla and Mirc take a bit of setting up. So Naturally... Java IRC is first up. ======== Java IRC ======== Simple little bugger.... You need Java for this, so if you have Java, and a web browser, you are all set. If you don’t have Java, look it up in Google it and downloading it (EDIT: You can download the Java app at the Sun Microsystem site). If you don't have a web browser, then what are you doing on Reality’s Exile? To use this program, just follow the link. There are a few problems you may run into... The little button at the upper left hand corner reads "Connect" and "Unidentified String" is the only thing the Text Box will say to you. If this happens, try updating Java or saying "Trust Content" to the Trusted content box when JavaIRC loads. I’m not to much in the know-how of Java IRC so I can't run you over all the common problems and solutions. If you have a healthy connection, You should see a Stream of text from Rizon which SHOULD look like this.
If you see that then you should be all set. Go ahead and type in:
Just without the ()s. Once you do that you SHOULD see something like this
After that you need to type:
Your name should now change from Exile-**** to whatever nickname you chose. ***Note: You WILL need to have voice privileges to change your nickname. The fastest way is to rightclick on a staff member's name and select "query" you can then ask them for voice. Now here comes the Registering. ======== Registering your Nick ======== To register your current name type:
and then go refer to your E-mail. From there it should instruct you how to Authenticate your Registration. Once that is done, type:
And you should get a message saying.
After this you need to contact a staff member. You can PM me via Reality’s Exile or PM me in IRC by following these steps. Right-click on my name, then select "Query." This will open up another chat panel in the same window. From here, just send a message telling me that you need to be registered. After doing so, I will guide you through the steps to get your voice. You can also contact other Staff members in the same manner. From here you are all set. You NEED to have the nickname you registered to log in. You can change it after you have logged in. Also you will need to log in to be able to talk on IRC. You will automatically be given voice if you have registered. So, after the first time, no need to PM a staff member. ======== :r: Basic Commands :r: ======== /join Type -- to join a channel of your choice Example:
/me The "/me" is an action message. Type
Example:
What it looks like:
/nick /nick changes your IRC name Example: type
/part Type to leave the channel you type this command into Type to leave all channels you are in /query Type
Example:
/quit Type to leave IRC entirely. Example:
/ignore Tired of someone in IRC? Not in the mood for a particular person? Type , you will not receive anymore messages from that person. Example:
To Unignore them, type
/whois Type to see a bit more information about another user. This information is what you will need to submit to a staff member if you have any issues Example:
----------------------------------------- If you don’t like Java IRC, you can download a free program. To set one of those up, please refer to one of my(or Jessie's) other walkthroughs. Don't see something in this section? Go ahead and PM me and all look into it. ~Darthanis~ |

***Note for people ALREADY in IRC: You WILL need to have voice privileges to change your nickname. The fastest way is to rightclick on a staff member's name and select "query" you can then ask them for voice. If you have already registered, Please Identify before logging into #Realitys-exile. It will save you A LOT of hassle. |
