Well, any day now, I should be getting a check in the mail, so I'll finally be able to replace the disc drive on my computer.

Finally managed to find a copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening.

I see cut-scenes that look way to good to be on a handheld and hear voice acting that's...actually halfway decent? Whatever madness this is, I'm lovin' it.
Once, there was a maiden...
...whose tears of grief nearly drowned the world.
So she tore out her heart, and made war against it.
In victory, she sealed it in a locket,
and trapped in a casting of bronze.
"Such is the price of unguarded emotion," she said.

Well, a check I'd been waiting on came in the other day, and I got a new disc drive. Hopefully I'm not a monkey with a rock trying to get it working.

Oh, also, I finally got more inspiration for my book, so maybe I'll have it ready for publication before the next president takes office.

I just talked my way out of a speeding ticket.

A little bit of background here. I was driving through Los Fresnos, TX, which is my dad's hometown (and a suburb of my own hometown of Brownsville). Two important facts about Los Fresnos. One, it's a typical small Texas football town. If you've ever seen Varsity Blues or Friday Night Lights, it's just like that, but with Mexicans.

Secondly, and more importantly, LF sits on the highway on the way to South Padre Island, so every March the town is inundated with college kids headed to them beach. So the LFPD is not exactly forgiving of people who violate the traffic laws. You know how if you're going 40 and the speed limit is 35, the cops will usually let it go? Yeah, they don't do that down here. Not only that, but they're such massive dicks that they will pull you over even as you're in sight of the next speed limit sign. Which is exactly what happened to me just about an hour ago.

Anyway, I ended up arguing my case so successfully (just turned the corner, 45 was the first sign I saw) the cop actually asked me if I was a lawyer. He didn't even notice that my inspection sticker has been expired since December. So yeah, I'm feeling pretty awesome.

I like what I see. Yes yes.

Well, a little bit more self-congratulatory crap from me...

In the past couple weeks, I've made more progress on my book than I had in the past couple months. All that really needs to be done before I start drafting it is that I need to flesh out the subplot, create the major characters for said subplot, and then go over the whole thing to see if there's any way to make the scenes better. Oh, and I'll have to figure out where to tie in some more growth for the characters. Some of you might recognize one of the names I've given a somewhat minor character.

ANYWAY... Rip has asked me to write a book with her, so any day now I'll hear from her what she wants me to do.

Bad news: I have to start paying my own cell phone bill and gas this summer.

Good news: I now have a job, so I can afford to do so.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm now running a almost completely new rig. New mother board, Quad core and a sweet new Saphire graphics card; and 8 G of ram to boot. The only thing I would be missing to top it off is a solid state drive.

The downside: I've had to entirely re-install windows. Go figures. Ah, that's what's back-up data is for.
