Some of you might already know this, but for those of you who don't, Cave Story (A.K.A. Doukutsu Monogatari) is being ported to the Wii, as Wii Ware (In other words, you can download). Now, I learned about this a while, and at first, I wasn't to excited to download this. Played it already for the PC (For free of course), so I didn't see much incentitive to get other than to probably use a controller. Alright, that was a like a year ago or so. Now I took a look at the blog of the peeps who's been working on it: BLOGGED My jaw dropped when I saw the new picks and polished graphics (And also heard some of the new music on the OFFICIAL SITE. Now I'm really stoked, especially since Pixel (The creator of the game) has a hand in all of this. So I feel completely confident that any other surprises will not disappoint me. And for those of you who don't know what Cave Story is, it's an awesome, indie (Independant games) created by a single person - Pixel. If you want more info, just check out the official site, or HERE Seriously, you have not lived long enough until you've played this game. Edited by CEMP, Mar 9 2009, 05:31 PM.

This should almost go in science behind sci-fi, but I thought it might fit better here.... "On March 17, there will be a "Battlestar" retrospective at the U.N. in New York and a panel discussion of how the show examined issues such as "human rights, children and armed conflict, terrorism, human rights and reconciliation and dialogue among civilizations and faith," according to Sci Fi." EDIT: 2009/03/17: (Note: This has nothing to do with my latching program) Right, this could be considered partially a rant, but also counts as a whoot because of the 'heart attack' I just avoid. So, this week is my spring vacation, and normally about every day when I wake up, I turn on my computer to start it load (It does take a while to load), and I find myself introduced to an unusual noise that was coming from the power supply fan. Instead of the usual kitten purr, I got this whipper snapper sound that made me think that something was caught in the fan, and upon hearing that, I immediately shut off the computer (Properly) in fear that the fan motor might over heat. Deducing from what I heard from the fan, I conclude that the comp was in need of cleaning. After doing a bundle of other chores this morning, I eventually sat down with my computer and did hardware maintenance. It was surprisingly less dirtier than I expected, but I still proceeded to cleaning up the interior and doing what i can with the power supply while it was still attached the casing. Upon testing it, I still got the same, ruddy noise, so this time i took drastic measures and actually detached the power supply box and looked inside of it. Let it be known that this is rather unexplored territory for me, but then again, my first compy clean out was done by myself; so I had complete confidence that i know well enough what to do. Even still, the entire hour I spent this morning was nervracking. After doing what dusting i could do without getting too nitty gritty with the box, I decided to test it while the casing was still open and the box still detached. After all, I just wanted to see if it would make that noise again. Too my joy, it didn't. Go me, or so I thought. After arduously putting my compy (Quote, as I nicknamed it) back together, I plugged everything in, only to find that god forbidden noise started again. I was also given a small heart attack when I saw the screen give me "We are sorry for this inconvenience, but windows was not able to load..." or something like that; but I was unable to finish reading the text when it dissapeared without me touching anything, and it started doing normal boot-up sequence. Aaaaaaaaaaannnd, as I found myself relieve to hear the noise go away when every was done loading my desktop. I check the fan itself; can't see the fans being still, so it must be moving, and i do feel air coming out. And i mean, how else can air be coming out of that venting area. So, after doing a few more check-up (Such as loading a few stuff here and there to see how it'll take it, and then rebooting it), it appears that everything is A-OK. My WHOOT: I'm glad my computer didn't blow up in my face from my maintenance. Also, I did do some nice cleaning, including using anti-static wipes on the more delicate areas. Although, this does bode as an omen that I should probably think of getting a new computer sooner than I planned. I GOT THE LATCHING PROGRAM FOR MY CIRCUIT BOARD ASSIGNMENT TO WORK!!!! WWEEEEEEEEEEE!! *Jigs to Beatdrop's Burnout for his success* Long story short, one of the classes that I'm in involving creating your own circuit board (Something like what you'd see in a computer), and we had to come with a program for it to do a certain task. Latching, to those of you who are familiar with it, may seem simple as long as you have an example of the code to copy and paste, but there was one section that was a little more complicated than the last two. I had so much trouble with it yesterday that I was sure I'd need to ask the teacher for help. However, after a good amount of sleep, I had taken a look at the ladder diagram again, and got the inspiration in what i should program it. I still did experience some problems, but then i just swapped a few symbols here and there without trying to make full understanding of what I was writing, and eventually I got it to work like the way it should. I'M SO HAPPY. Kinda makes me feel like I'm a really good problem solver, tee EDIT: [WARNING: CAVE STORY SPOILERS AHEAD] On a smaller note, I just beat my original Sacred Grounds Speed Run time on Cave Story. My original time was 4:20 something. My new time is 4:08 something, and that a bit chunk off of my record. It may not be under the four minute mark as I hoped, but it's good and shows that by saving precious seconds, I can possibly obtain the King screen (If there is one). The original weapons of choice: Nemesis, Snake, Super Missile Launcher, Bubbler (And anything else I'm forgetting). New weapons of choice: Nemesis, Spurr, Fireball, Super Missile Launcher, Bubbler. I originally choose to use the Snake because of it's wave-beam like attach that can go through walls; thus allowing me to trigger the Delete bombs before actually physically reaching them. Turns out i don't need it, and that feeding all of the exp points into my missile launcher is the way to go (blasting Ballos's eyes out with a third grade launcher is pure fun). [SPOILERS ENDED] Edited by CEMP, Mar 17 2009, 01:57 PM.

I FINALLY got to use a firearm a few weeks ago. To put this in perspective, I'm 21, living in Arkansas. <_< It was an old Colt M16 (I think it might be an M4 carbine) chambered in .223, and it was full auto capable. Hopefully I can get a job soon so I can get not only internet, but a gun as well. I'm looking to get an M1911 (semi-auto handgun), or maybe a shotgun or rifle. Edit: whoops, forgot to add that I got the new All That Remains album. It's whoopass. Edited by Alkarii, Mar 21 2009, 02:25 PM.

HOO-FREAKIN'-RAH!!!!! whew. I just played what was quite possibly the most fun round of laser tag ever. Meatshields, camping sprees, and a couple absolutely crazy rushes by practically the whole team at once up into the enemy-held maze-tower thing while screaming something in between "Charge!" and a wordless battle cry. Good times. Hopefully, I'll have a post for Heroes 2 up tomorrow. Oh, yeah, I'm on Spring Break!!!!! |

Once, there was a maiden... ...whose tears of grief nearly drowned the world. So she tore out her heart, and made war against it. In victory, she sealed it in a locket, and trapped in a casting of bronze. "Such is the price of unguarded emotion," she said. | |
