***Mass Effect 3 Ending Spoiler Alert. Don't Scroll Down if you don't want it spoiled!*** Okay. DAMNIT. I could list all the obscenities I know (and it's quite the exhaustive list), but nothing quite represents my anger and frustration over the entire ordeal like that. The video that properly conveys my feelings in a level-headed manner would be HERE, but at the same time, the PR maneuvering and stunts that the EA PR team and BioWare representatives (the ones allowed to speak to the public, anyway) are absolutely aggravating to no end. The ending leaves us with a horrible, horrible mockery of 'choice', not to mention it completely overrides any of our previous choices in ALL of the games! There is no closure, only questions upon questions upon questions upon questions! So much hope and anticipation absolutely SHATTERED this game and its entire series. And here I was hoping to preserve this game series on discs in order to allow my (future) kids to play this game when they got older. Why? Because stories are the absolute building block of Human culture and imagination. People get into roleplaying because of stories like the Illiad, The Odyssey, Beowulf, The Lord of the Rings, and all the rest. These are fundamentally amazing stories that form the basis of culture and imagination in young people, and many of these grand tales motivate me to roleplay on over 20 roleplaying boards and servers. So. Damn. Angry. |

I've known about his Mass effect 3 ending issue for a while, but since I don't play ME, nor do i intend for a variety of reason (Aside from lack of time, I get this distinct vibe or 'smell' about it whenever I see a few vids of it. Could be from a variety of sources), I'm not bothered by this. That said, here is a list of information that's sorta kept me informed, and may either provide something cynic or another opinion to follow: Zero Punctuation Extra Punctuation Experianced Points |

"I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams is something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death." — Monty Oum | |

Here's a great article about the entire Mass Effect series from Tom Bissell, resident video game columnist at Grantland. While I too haven't ever played any games in this series, his breakdown of the game and it's sequels can easily apply to any number of franchises out there. His other columns are definitely worth checking out as well. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7694386/on-mass-effect-3 |

I echo a lot of the frustration over the ending of ME3, the whole series was fantastic and improvements were made through the whole of the series. honestly everything aside from the last ten minutes worth of cut scenes were fantastic. I've recently read some where that the problem was partly due to the departure of the lead writer to work on another project. however consider how angry you would have been if the rest of the games hadn't been so good to begin with. even with the endings that in my opinion cheapen the experience by breaking it down to a story being told to a child. even with the ending however I still love the series and will play it through again from the beginning hopefully to recapture some of what I enjoyed, and maybe by the time I finish Bioware will release a new ending |

So here's a little something the Jimquisition put out today that I find delves into the subject matter of ME3 very well (As well as other things): Changing a Game's ending and Destroying Art Edited by CEMP, Apr 2 2012, 04:38 PM.

Aion's race restrictions is stupid; understandable, but utterly stupid. Seriously, there should be BETTER ways to balance factions than that, ESPECIALLY when a particular newbie wants to play with his friends and can't because of said restriction. Edited by CEMP, May 12 2012, 12:15 PM.

Okay this takes some backstory: About two years ago we found a wild white kitten running around our property (a wild Kitten appears!) and we managed to catch him. He was filthy and starved, and probably wouldn't have lasted another 24 hours. Well, we had 2 more kittens (one from a neighbor's mother cat having kittens on our property, and another from a fast food drive through) at the same time. Those two were sound, healthy kittens that ran around and played a lot. The white one didn't, he would always hang back in a corner and watch the other two play, it took a lot to come out of his shell. Thus, I named him Emo, because he's, well, sorta emo. Now, for some reason, Emo seemed to attach to me and no one else in the family. I can run right up to him, pick him up, give him a squeeze, tip him upside down. I could be a toddler to that cat and he wouldn't mind. Now, anyone else he's terrified of and runs away, and even friendly attempts to pick him up end with claws. It's taken a lot of patience and work to get him to open up and be a friendly guy. Because if his starvation and abandonment, Emo seems to have some issues both mentally and physically. His throat seems damaged in some way, so his vocalizations are limited, and he can't seem to climb. He jumps, but doesn't climb. Now, otherwise he's a very happy, healthy cat, he lives outdoors and does very well. Still, I like to joke that he's retarded (That, and white cats can't jump). I love my cat, he's my big, fluffy, special retard that loves me just as much in return. I'm his whole world. Okay, with all that backstory out of the way, fast forward to yesterday where the 12 year old neighbor girl was imposing on us with her company. She adores cats, especially white cats. She asks me, "Can I pet him?" To which I reply, "Sure, if he'll let you." He does, barely, and I say, "He's my special needs cat." "How is he special needs?" "He needs lots of TLC." (tender, loving care) "Ooooh." Then, later, she brings it up again. "So your cat is special needs?" Me, "Yeah." Thinking, "Gawd, why won't she shut up and move on?" Then, later, I remember she has a younger sister who is very Autistic. She has a sister. Who is a special needs kid. Open mouth. Insert foot. |

Nah, I wouldn't worry about it B. Nothing you said was out of line. ;-) The cat needs TLC, just like the kid's sister, just like everybody else in the world. |

Evidence that we are still around... sorta. ![]() ![]() This lady had a conference out here in Portland, so when she showed up, we took a spin down to the Central Oregon Coast. Saw the Spruce Goose along the way... stopped at a few state parks and took a drive through a National Forest. Anyhow, this is evidence that we are still alive. ~Transcon/Aiko |
