Actually the scratchy/tasty thing is from Resident Evil. You find a diary recording someone turning into a zombie and it's probably one of the best scares in the game.

I..... ugh.

My parents have finally reached the point where they're going to break up. I won't say any more.

Two bits of bad news.

The first one is serious. An old friend of my grandfather's has been found with terminal cancer and has roughly three months to live. Having met her a few times in the past, and knowing that she has known him for the last fifty years or so, this is quite a blow. For him especially since my grandmother's death only a few years ago.

The second is slightly more comic, but i'll just post the following image to explain why i'm hacked off about it. I'd rather not appear to be pettily complaining about a hack writer in comparison to the above news.

As of approximately 7:15 PM PST, a buddy of mine I ain't seen in a while passed away.

Day started after waking up after 4:30 PM. I had been informed on the 15th that he could have gone within 24-48 hrs. I knew he was aware of my morbid sense of humor, and I hoped he would hold on long enough for me to get to the hospice.

When I got there, I walked into the room, sat down next to him, and with his mother and new wife in the room, I said:

"Hey, Pal. Glad you could hang out long enough for me to get a chance to see ya. I really appreciate that." The ladies laughed, and he kinda tossed his head. The hand was cold and blue... it felt as though "he" had receded from his extremities.

I started babbling about an old photo... Him in the foreground all round-faced and filled out, me in the background all rail thin and pouting. It was a good image, and a good memory. Then I said "This isn't cool. You're the gaunt one and I've been gaining weight. What the hell kinda joke is this?" More positive response.

Leukemia.

I took Dusty the kitty out for a walk while his wife wanted to cuddle with him. Within a few minutes of that happening, he passed. Just the way he wanted.

After he was cleaned up, shaved, and Dusty was put back in his lap, we stood around him with sparkling cider. A glass for each of us, and one for the Guest of Honor. We gave a toast, talked about our best memories of him, offered his lady our help with anything, and slowly we went to our homes.

I have never seen a corpse, let alone one of a friend. Strangely, I think he had the best death scene ever. Surrounded by friends celebrating his memories, seeing him off to his afterlife, wherever that may be. Some of us cried, some laughed... there was a lot of hugging and comforting going on.

Me? I knew the pain. It was there. Only choked once during the toast. The tears didn't come (though they did threaten once or twice). I merely found myself silent for the most part. Kept a stiff chin and a grin. Never really felt overwhelmed with loss or grief. I just... knew. He had a full life and positively effected many people. I will mourn in my own way, and life does go on.

"To the Dreamer..."

From there, went to another friend's place and drank a couple shots of eighteen year old whiskey. It seemed appropriate.

Have a safe trip, Sean.

You gave the man the best treatment possible, Trans. You should be proud of yourself.

Not many people get to pass on like that. You guys did the right thing; I hope I can experience something similar whenever my time comes.

Wow, that was quite a way to handle the death of an old friend. *Salutes*
