I've noticed a commonality with the stuttering of my audio, and other actions I'm performing. When scrolling this very website, my audio will stutter and lock up for the entirety that I am doing so. I have attempted to install the latest driver for this sound card, but apparently it cannot detect installed hardware that it's supposed to run for. So either I downloaded the wrong driver, or something else is at work here. I really need some help, seeing as I am a computer retard. |

Yeah I've noticed when I scroll on this site (Only this site as well), my computer makes a damn weird noise. And, to make this a proper rant, I got a shard of glass in my foot. I nearly bloody fainted, having to pull it out with tweezers. Turned out it was tiny little thing. How it made such a big cut is beyond me. |

Posting on my old computer. Reason? Seems like the hard drive on my new one has given up the ghost. We've tried everything except unplugging it directly and reconnecting it on a different SATA socket, but I doubt it'll work. Here's the exact problem: About a minute or so of the boot screen, and then BOOT DISK ERROR. INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. Can anyone help me, or have I just lost over 150 gigs of my stuff in one night? EDIT: Yup, it's fried. Turns out we bought the computer during a period where HP was shipping them with Seagate drives that would stop working after several months unless a certain driver was installed, and once the error occurred, that was it. I'm so angry right now. Not just because I've lost everything, but because we bought a PC that was faulty from the start. Edited by Bloody Pom, Jul 17 2009, 05:03 PM.

For what it's worth you have my sympathies, that's happened to me twice in the past and on both times I lost a hell of a lot of information and a series of books I keep trying to work on. My only suggestion is that when you get another PC, get an external hard drive to hold and back up your data and information. EDIT: And now for a short rant from me, I just tried to use the IRC on this site for the first time I got here and it seems that either my computer can't handle it or it's being blocked by AVG. Bugger. Edited by Shin-Ra, Jul 17 2009, 08:20 PM.

Usually the most popular place for us folks to chat is on chatango. Here's the link: http://realitysexile.chatango.com/ As for me, I tend to animate the computer activity at the camp I work at, and normally, I have access to internet a lot. Unfortunately, the computers we've been using have started to become stubborn to a point where i can't go on RE at all on them - only the master computer. Real big annoyance since I can't use that computer often Edited by CEMP, Jul 17 2009, 08:28 PM.

Only the hard drive is messed. Thankfully the PC's still on warranty so the drive will be replaced without any cost to us. I just wish I had backed up stuff. |

Well, there's always swapping the actual disks into another hard drive. You could pay a professional to do it, but it will be a LOT of cash to shell out for data, as the procedure requires the most intense precision and cleanliness. A few of my friends nicknamed it "Hard Drive Surgery," and for that reason. But, since that's not a really visible option, you might try looking online once you get your comp back; there are tons of sites that host "Backup Plans" and a lot of them are free... I don't know of any good ones currently, but if you're interested, I have a friend I can get a hold of who uses one, and she's not had a problem since she started. |

A big rant ahead. Futurama may be coming back to television, but apparently it won't be like you remember it. There's good news and there's bad news. The good news is that FOX is bringing back Futurama, but the bad news is that they are recasting all the major roles. Fox are looking for new voice actors for Fry, Leela, Bender, The Professor, Zoidberg, Mom, Kiff and Zap Brannigan, which leaves very little of the existing cast intact. The news was broken as John DiMaggio (Bender), Phil LaMarr (Hermes), and Maurice LaMarche (Kif) made posts on Facebook entreating Futurama fans to contact the casting director and make their displeasure clear. Fox is laying the blame on the actors themselves however, saying: "We love the 'Futurama' voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands. While replacing these talented actors will be difficult, the show must go on." Damn I hate FOX. |

Unlike my entirely facetious rant earlier, I am about to rant to you all about something a bit more serious, something that scares me a lot more than it should, but first, let me ask you a question: Have you ever started doing something you should know how to do, and are usually pretty skilled at doing, and when you step back to admire your handiwork, you realize you'd forgotten how to do it? The work, The effort, The creative vision you began with, all of it wasted on a sudden lack of ability? It's something people have nightmares about. A mechanic picks up a wrench, walks into his shop, and forgets how to properly set a timing belt. An artist takes their pencil to a piece of paper, and can't remember how to draw hair, or water. A technician comes into work, and can't remember what buttons do which things on the machine he runs to make a living. They all fight to remember... how does a leaf look as it falls? which button starts the second conveyor belt? What oil filter does a 97 Toyota Corolla use? They fight so hard to find their lost memory that their mind wakes up in an effort to find it. For a second, they wonder where they are, look frantically around the room for something familiar, then remember what it was they were searching for, and go back to sleep. They spend the rest of their lives oblivious to that dream, with no waking memory of their frantic search for something that should be there and isn't, because it wasn't real. I opened Blender today. I tried to model the Epoch from Chrono Trigger. When I zoomed out, I didn't even recognize it. I still haven't woken up. |
