Well, so far, I didn't get anything for financial aid (that I can recall), but mom just faxed my shot record this morning.
Also.... I quit my job at Skippy. I was about two seconds away from getting fired, because my supervisor came out and started giving me a problem about something I was just about to fix, which turned into an argument. "Just about," as in, I turned around to go fix it, and he was standing there.
The problem was that, apparently, the boxes I was emptying and stacking up (broken down) weren't in a PERFECTLY LINED UP stack, and with two different sizes of boxes going into that stack, it's not an easy thing to do. And when I tried to tell him that I've been trying, he's like "Well, Paul was able to do it!" at which point I pointed out that he would never show up on time, while I always showed up early, and had to deal with the second shift guy coming in as much as fifteen minutes late, not to mention the third shift guy turning the alarms on the machines off (these alarms tell me when I need to put in another box of caps), and the fact that I had so little time to do it in when the alarms for three lines kept going off, giving me about five or ten seconds at a time, which was pretty much just enough time to get down from the platform, walk all the way to the opposite end I get off of it from (stairs at just one end; the stack was at the end I was at), and touch the stack. Now, I could just slide between the railing and the unopened boxes to get to the floor, but that could have gotten me in trouble. Also, with the size of the stack at that point, I couldn't just stick my hands on the sides and try to straighten it. Either way I could think of to to it would have taken me twenty minutes that I didn't have.
EDIT: yeah, now I really believe I won't get to go to college, since I still haven't applied for financial aid, and now someone other than my mom has said that it takes a long time to get approved for loans, and since I have until August 20th to pay it, I'm shit out of luck.

The college wants you to go there. Call them up, tell them your situation, and they'll bend over backwards to get you in. You're dollars to them, remember.
Sucks about your job though. Hopefully this college thing will work out. Don't give up!

I'm Dyspraxic- a minor but irritating condition, the major result of which is that i cannot write with a pen or pencil. As such, i'm completely reliant upon a laptop for virtually everything work and creativity related.
Now, from that, you can probably see why its so annoying when a laptop breaks down, and i'm left without a good computer for a long time. Thats the way it was with my old Acer laptop, which broke down eight times in six months, and vanished for weeks at a time to the tech support department. At the time, i thought that was standard practice.
Now, i have a new Dell. had it for about a year, the first fault developed a couple of days ago. They sent a technician to my house, who fixed the problem in fifteen minutes. When i asked, he told me Acer are the only company who don't consider laptops repairable on site.
Yeah. Because, even though EVERYONE ELSE can repair the laptops on site, Acer are somehow unable to do it.
In short, yay Dell, boo Acer

Gasp.
All of my stuff practically is Acer. I must be lucky, since breakdowns are few and far-between. Then again, I can mostly repair anything that happens with the little bits of experience I have (and a brother finishing college for it), so it's different for me.
Plus, I live in the middle of nowhere, which makes at-home repairmen a thing of nonexistance. But hey, glad you have a working computer again!

Sleeping at night at my mom's house is horribly annoying.
It is getting to be pretty hot, since it's summer and all. My mom can't afford to keep the air conditioning on all night, so stuff doesn't tend to get cooler. I've had a fan in my room sometimes, but it keeps mysteriously disappearing and I don't know where it is. My room tends to get really stuffy, even with all the windows open, so it's really horrible, even when I'm not trying to get to sleep. When I am, I just feel completely smothered, and having thick covers on the bed hasn't helped, though I did switch them out for thinner ones today, and I hope it helps. It's really horrible and I wish that there was at least a fan in my room.
On top of everything else, there's a moth in my room. Why is there a moth in my room!

yeah, my wisdom teeth are still making my other teeth hurt, and I'm now having to bite down on a towel that I rolled up and folded in half. Dries my mouth out, and sometimes I almost gag on it.

Ok, I have to get this off my chest, because as an artist, it really bugs me to no end... You guys know that I have a ton of patience, but this is just one of those things that if I don't vent, it is going to fester... Some things have spoiler tags since they can get very lengthy.
So, as you might know, I am working as the lead artist for Project Agate. Now, I know everyone has their own style as tastes, but this guy thinks that he's all high and mighty on his seat...
- NivMizzet
-
I don't know why but most of your eevee-lutions look like neopets except for that silver one, it looks like its from mech quest or whatever that thing they advertise is called.
Ok, so I gave him my reply, me slightly in the WTF moment since I never got anywhere near those...
- Lt. Jessie
-
Actually, all the basis for the Eevee-loutions are of my own design with the help of my sisters. We wanted them really unique compared to others I have seen made by other people, which some were too obvious or not liking the design. The style is similar to Sugimori's however, it also has a hint of my own style in there. If you look at my art galleries for a long time, then you'll see that one style that always pops up.
The mecha one, in particular, I had to pull references from Transformers, Gundam, Ghost in the Shell, and other mech-based anime since I don't draw mech-based animals too often.
As for the others... Well, let's just say that I've been exposed a bit too much to other things... XP
So, I take a break and go back to coloring some things, as well as preparing outlines for Cybeon. I check back at the forums to see if any one replied to the Angeleon I posted earlier. I got this as a reply...
- NivMizzet
-
Wait, I know what it is now. Its not quite neopets. A long time ago, this really crappy game called Battleon had this crazy outbreak at my school. It sucked really bad, don't even try it. The faces of your eevees look like their from that game. The design isn't bad, its just the quality of the art isn't that great. I think the color in the eyes is too solid so they don't look very real. They also look kinda flat.
Yes, he just did. A 15-year-old who claims he's in art class yet can barely draw just said that the quality of my art isn't that great. Now, understand that these are all concepts, which means things can change later on. These are just visual references I make for personal use, as well as giving the team an idea of what's going on in my mind in terms of the planning and designing processes... So, basically, that's his strike one... My reply, as well as a quote from the staff Pyro...
- Lt. Jessie
-
*...Refrains from cursing and takes a few deep breaths to calm down...* ...There is a reason why they are called concepts... They are just ideas that we can visually work with and finalized before they are redesigned... And as I would like to quote Pyro from another thread you made... - Pyro
-
Just because YOU think they are bad, doesn't mean other do.
They have been shrunk down from a massive 2500 px minimum, which means there will be a loss of quality. Concepts are only concepts until the finals are fully completed. Yeesh... I actually have to rush these concepts due to my time constrains in order for the team to hammer down the details before I make a final for them, which would end up as a different pose.
Now I'm thinking this is enough to shut the guy up for a while. I was wrong...
- NivMizzet
-
Whats your pattern? If you look at the first five eevee-lutions, they all have something on the forehead, ears and tail following a motif, and for the first three, they have a collar thing that follows the motif.
What is the body parts in your eevee-lutions that change to match the typing. That might help you figure out how to make new ones or how to improve the current ones.
Just WTF? Now the guy wants to see my thought process, which I gave him the extremely simplified form since notes for each of these Eevee evolutions are roughly a page to two pages each... Seriously, how is that an argument for design?
- Lt. Jessie
-
I would disagree greatly with your argument. If you look at each type of Eevee evolution, their colors correspond to their type, as well as their adaptation. There is not 'real' pattern as opposed to 'designed for adaptation' and their similar body shapes. Below is a quick outline, as well as personal notes on their design. Spoiler: click to toggle Vaporeon is a sea blue, and since it is of type water, its adaptation is its fins, which allows it to move freely in water.
Jolteon is a bright yellow, the cliche color for electrical types. The spines are used to resemble the thunderbolts that is a symbol of the type. They also function like mini lightning rods to conduct electricity.
Flareon is red, the color of fire. The fur on it resembles the flames that it blows.
Espeon is purple, the color type used in the TCG for psychic types. The gem on its head is a reference to the 'third eye' idea, which allows it to sense movements.
Umbreon is black with yellow, which follows its 'Moonlight' title. With the dark body symbolizing the night and the yellow the moonlight, it is only fitting that it gains the dark-type attribute.
Leafeon is brown and green, woody colors that symbolize plant growth. Even its ears and tails have a leafy definition to them to show that it is a grass-type.
Glaceon is a lighter blue to resemble its type, ice. The two dangles, if you are familiar with winter clothing, are references to the draw strings of knitted caps.
Now, for my types...
Teraeon (Ground/Rock) Based off the Rhyhorn evolution line, I have it in earthen colors, as well as the matted armor plating that is notable mostly on Rhydon. Due to the weight of the armor, additions had to be made to the lithe form of most of the Eevee evolutions, in this case the thickening of the padded feet, as well as giving it a heavier set form. Armor has been taken into consideration as to what needs to be protected the most.
Angeleon (Cosmic/Flying) As with most flying types, they are either birds or have wings. In this case, we are going with wings, but the wings aren't just the reason, as there are underlying meanings, especially the wings on the ankles and the head. They are references to Hermes, the messanger of the gods in Greek Mythology. The scarf is a reference to the flowing angelic design that is seen in quite a few angel art.
Specteon (Ghost) I did not want to go full out ghostie with this one, but rather make it look more mysterious and foreboding. In quite a few cliche, the cloak is a symbol of death or mourning. The desaturated purple and grayish hues are of depression, cold, and uncertain.
Rapteon (Dragon) This one I just wanted to stick with the natural traits of a dragon, in particular the Western dragons as opposed to the Eastern.
Lepideon (Bug) Probably the most beautiful one I have made yet, this one is based off beetles and butterflies. To keep to the traits of an insect without needing to go to the lengths of adding another pair of legs, the antannae, wing case, and double tail (reference to a swallowtail butterfly) are enough to say that it is a bug. The basic pose is that of Leafeon's concept that Sugimori released, followed by redesigns and making adaptations to the body structure needs. So... I do tend to do a lot of research before I start working on these images, whether as integrating designs for reference or for practical use.
His reply was REALLY rude...
- NivMizzet
-
Wow...you wrote so much. Heres what I'm saying. Spoiler: click to toggle Forehead: Flareon (flame puff), Vaporeon (fin), Jolteon (static hair), Espeon (gem), Umbreon (ring)
Ear: Flareon (tip resembles fire), Vaporeon (fins), Jolteon (Static hair at the the tip), Espeon (Two part ear), Umbreon (rings on ears)
Tail: Flareon (Flame puff), Vaporeon (Fin), Jolteon (static hair), Espeon (Two tip tail), Umbreon (Ring on tail)
Collar: Flareon (Flame puff), Vaporeon (fin), Jolteon (static hair)
I didn't mention Glaceon and Leafeon cause they kinda suck. Notice how its the same thing all the way through. And its for these body parts. Which body parts on your eevee-lutions have what on them.
Uh-huh... Sure... And I'm an actual ex-Marine turned bounty hunter in real life who draws fake Pokemon to keep sane... I don't give a rat's tail about what needs to be changed or not! I don't care about the pattern, but boy, you practically called an attack on me when I did nothing!
- Lt. Jessie
-
Like I said, your argument has no basis. That is more of designing to adaptation/type. Why would I want to follow such a base formula? What's wrong with being unique? There are only certain aspects that I want to bring out due to adaptation as opposed to following such a trivial pattern.
That's strike two! Touch the tail feathers again and you're dead! Anyways, I go back to finishing Cybeon and post it, noticing that three other people have stepped in and told him to put a lid on it. Unfortunately, the boy doesn't get it...
- NivMizzet
-
Looks like one of those toy robot dogs, for got what its called.
Ok, I'm the gloom. But really, most of the art isn't that good right now. Most of you guys are really supportive and saying "oh its great". I would say it is very good compared to most other fan based games I've seen. However, if you put it next to official are, most of it looks like junk. Its just really annoy wherever I look, not only on this site, theres these pictures of fakemon that look like how I draw when I was 2. They look like my classmates art in kindergarden cause most people can't even write an I straight. Thats how it looks like.
Jessie, your stuff isn't that bad, its just its not that good either. There is a lot of really amazing artists at my school and they're just the normal people taking art class to graduate. When I look around and the art can't even match up to them, then I don't consider it good. You mentioned how they have that position of standing and the way their eye is shaped. You mentioned tradition so I mentioned it too.
I'll admit that I'm not the best artist here but I think I am better than a few of the artists who designed the pokemon here.
Where is my .50-cal with explosive Phazon rounds? That's strike three right there... NORMAL people? Then what does that make me, a dunce or a super nerd because I'm in college and he's in freaking high-school? The style is different, so big whoop!!! So, here is my hugeass reply...
Spoiler: click to toggle A Techno Robotic Dog...
*Sighs*
I have had it... I have been holding back as much as possible, but it seems that you cannot grasp the idea of what a CONCEPT or a ROUGH DRAFT is... Twice have you ruffled the falcon's tail feathers, and this is the third...
I am getting very tired of your 'doom and gloom' atmosphere, because really, you are hindering me more than my coursework with your negative attitude, and that is saying a lot seeing how much work I have to do in university.
Seriously, if you aren't going to be a positive critique (And I don't mean the "Oh, you're so good" sort of mush but rather the "Explain why the choices were made?" critiques), which at the moment, you are not in any way I see (even my fellow art classmates are reading this and laughing at you for your poor excuse for arguments since they KNOW these are just CONCEPTS that are IN THE WORKS and have a high chance of being REDESIGNED and would rather argue about it AFTER things had at least a second draft) . It's like you want to take over the art of the project and do it yourself. You even took this action with Acanthite's concepts when the BLATANTLY said there were some that were to undergo redesigns.
I will admit that these are half-assed jobs on my part since these are just concepts, but as long as I have a visual to work with, then that's fine with me. I know I can do a whole lot better than this, but since they are not FINALS, I only do enough so I get an idea. ANY artist knows that ideas take time to formulate and blossom into what we want. Everything that you see done by me has been carefully done based on criteria that the project head has given me, as well as my own knowledge of the criteria and my own touches, as well as feedback from those within the project. Those who are only supporters might have SOME say, but they do not weigh as much as those who work on the project as we have an idea of where we want to go with it, and not the supporters. I NEVER jump in feet first to hell with any of my drawings. Everything starts somewhere, whether it be a simple doodle or masterpiece that spans nearly one gigabyte in hard drive space...
So, if you think that we're not good enough for your 'delicate art pallet,' why don't you just leave this place? Not only have you already gotten on the nerves of Acanthite's Staff, and now you are getting on the nerves of Agate's Staff, in particular ME...
What does it take for us to say that these are just CONCEPTS and that they are NOT the final?!
I am sure even Sugimori himself, as well as artists for the Pokemon TCG, anime, and manga, had to go through several drawings before he got to what he has to present to the public, yes? Hell, even our greatest comic artists like Stan Lee have to make several drafts before we actually read the brilliantly made graphic novels that are put on to store shelves.
The boards are a means for us to pass ideas, for people to ask questions so that we can justify our choices. That is what art is, not this whole mumbo-jumbo about how there is a pattern we must follow, or because it's tradition and we must stick with it. Traditions are traditions, while there are those who want to try and break the mold a bit to create something more unique. Everyone has their own unique touches, and it doesn't have to be perfected so much that it looks like another artist's style? Where's the uniqueness then? I look at Acanthite's, and yes, I can see Sugimori's style, however, there is also that unique spark that belongs ONLY to the original artist. The same goes with mine. They may not look exactly like Sugimori's, but it is as close as I will allow since I want to keep my own uniqueness...
If you are a true artist, then you should know that yourself. Not everything is perfect. You said so yourself that you're not the best artist, and I have yet to see a completed work. Does that not make yourself a hypocrite in your own speech, as well as make you a fool to not back up what you have to say with solid evidence?
Call me what you want, but I will not tolerate you forcefully pressing your ideas on to others when they have their own goals in mind. That goes for not only Agate or Acanthite, but also any other projects I or any of my friends here, on DeviantART, or on SheezyART are involved with... I think that sums up most of my day today...
Sorry if it was long, but I had to put it into the context the guy was setting it up as... I hope the staff at Acanthite board sees the mess he made in the Agate Project thread, and hopefully bans him, if not give him an extremely firm warning, because really, this guy has been a complete brash showoff that it's driving all the concept artists of both projects blazing mad.

For your sake, and the sake of everyone else that has had to put up with him, I hope he gets a stern warning, or even a ban. I know how much work artists put into their stuff, and for him to blow you off like that is not okay.

Yeah, I've talked with Fangking Omega, head of Project Acanthite, and the other staff members of the other projects. We have all come to an agreement that he's been a pain in the ass, and needs to be booted out before he says another word.
EDIT: Holy WTF...? His reply is so baseless...
- NivMizzet
-
I don't have any deviant art thing but I somewhere on this forum there is a link to a project I worked on. There is nothing on there but concepts. However, those concepts are pretty good examples what the I envisioned.
Jessie, that thing is way too long, I just skimmed over it. You were speaking about a being a true artist. I see that you have put your sig on every single one of those pictures. From what I understand, that means it is a completed piece of work and you just told me it was just a concept.
I don't know why but everyone on this forum thinks that I'm trying to kill them. How can I not say it is bad if the lines don't even look like a certain line. If it looks like a bent wire, thats not good. Do you expect me to say "it looks awesome" even though I think its bad?
That is just utter stupidity... My reply to him to show that I am through with his negativity...
- Lt. Jessie
-
Oh my freaking... If you've skimmed it, then you've missed the entire point.
Just because I put my sig does NOT mean it is in FINAL! It is a force of habit because I have dealt with too many art thieves! Do you know how annoying it is for people to come up and steal your work, putting on their gallery and saying that it is theirs when it is not? Think of it as a seal so that it can be easily identified by others. Granted it can be easily Photoshopped out of there, but at least people will know that if they run across one of my pieces WITHOUT the mark, they can question the poster.
Seriously, these are OUR Pokemon of OUR designs. They have been created with certain traits of OUR choosing for OUR game, not YOURS.
If you think you're so high and mighty with your "I'm so perfect" attitude and cannot get it into that thick skull of yours that there is a HIGH chance of redesign after at least one set is completed, then get the hell out of here, because really, you hinder me worse than my coursework load...
After that, I decided to check Acanthite's progress of redesign since I wanted to see which ones were updated (I do their TCG art), and I found this in the redesign thread...
- NivMizzet
-
I couldn't find a better place but this place to bring this up. I always get the response "its under redesigning". I get that whenever I say something about the art for a certain fakemon. I know its your redesigning it. That doesn't change the fact that I think that a certain fakemon needs some changes. I can't see it. I don't know that what you have worked on. I don't know what your thinking. You people get mad at me for say what I think about what is being shown. If you don't want people to make bad comments, show something good, not the half-designed things you have.
Now I will leave.
Good riddance... Looks like he saw that he wasn't going to be much good to begin with with all his nitpicking attitude when it is obvious that there will be changes... I think he did himself a favor by saving himself from complete humiliation, as well as the wrath of both Acanthite and Agate...

Well I had an opperation of my jaw two days ago and i'm back now. And that was one of the most irritating and disturbing moments in my life despite being unconcious during the process.
To cut things short, my upper jaw was broken away from the rest of my head to strighten it out (a long term defect), and I ended up losing roughly the same ammount of blood as Ichigo Kurosaki does per Bleach fight.
And now I am bearly capable of talking.
