Well the computer decided to run a CHKDSK seemingly at random and found a crapload of corrupt files.

Since those file's repair/removal, everything's worked fine.

Ah, the good ol' CHKDSK. Runs automatically in periodical intervals on most systems I've used, but that's most like since my brother set it up that way. It sounds like your computer is just dirty / was dirty. You might wanna consider running a scan for viruses and defragging if it's been a while.

You may also want to download CCleaner. It's free and it'll clean up your registry. Make sure you keep sweeping until it doesn't detect anything more, since often by removing bad registry values more will pop up. It'll also delete temporary internet files (which is a good thing, mine removed 1.6 gigs I never used), but you want to make sure you deselect your internet browser under the registry cleaner, otherwise it'll delete your cookies (but preserve bookmarks) and you'll have to visit all your favorite websites again to get them in your dropdown menu.

*warning inbound rant*

Well, I finished my AS exams a week or two ago due to coursework based subjects, and for absolutely no reason we're being told that we have to go into college for an additional three weeks and an activities week.

There's no point to it, the work we do in these weeks does not count towards our future grades in any way, but we get marked down on our AS if we do not do it. And due to a massive screw up by the college admin very few teachers and less than a handful of students actually understand what we're meant to be doing in this time.

Atop of this, during activities week I signed up to make a film. Sounded like a good idea at the time till I learned what was to happen. We had three days to write a script, film, edit and arrange everything for this. Along with this I have been set up to join one of the most arrogant and self centered moron I have ever met, and I’m the only other person officially in his group.

He decided the story (because he said so, it’s based upon two films I haven’t seen and sound terrible,) wrote a terrible script (good dialogue and little else, this is also one of the only two things I’m good at in this subject.) Then gives me a shopping list of items to get from my house and tells me to make a storyboard (one of my worst skills in this subject.)
Today we do the filming, I convince him to rewrite the script, and we manage to rope a few extra people into the film (thankfully putting me out of the way of acting.) I do the camera work, and yet this guy (despite being the protagonist of the film) also attempts to be director and gain total control of what is going on, including what I am meant to be doing.
It dawns on me during the second scene that this guy does not have the slightest idea how you are meant to film a movie. He decided that one camera angle and one camera was enough for the entire scene (I won’t go into details but this is THE most amateurish mistake you can make in Film Studies.)
Even the people directing the course argue against these decisions, he ignores any and all recommendations and continues with what he thinks is right stating “I’ve been using film editing programs since I was about ten, last year I turned a series of (censored) shoots into the best film in the class etc etc.”

If this goes on for one more day, I am going to leave him to dig his own grave and join someone else.

You know what? I really want to tie this damned computer tower to a post, weld that post to the bed on a flatbed truck, hurl the computer off, and have the driver drive as fast as he can, while I shoot at this useless pile of silicon chips and poor-quality hardware.

This piece of crap has rebooted countless times IN AN HOUR. You know, I might not even finish this post. The damn thing might decide it needs to reboot again. In that case I'll ask to have it replaced with something that doesn't fail horribly.

Failing at my first plan, I would like to bludgeon it with a sledge hammer until it pours its shattered contents on my front lawn, where they can bake and degrade in the sun.
Takeoff.

As some of you may know, I had a Spyware Invasion just recently. And to let the ones who aided(and I thank them for their assistance) to know that..... it was an infestation, not an invasion. It was so bad, I had to do a clean swipe. Meaning, start up my entire systems to the beginning. Meaning the files I worked so hard on like FFXI, the thing that sets up my wireless internet, and all of the other neat stuff I had in my computer(Melty Blood, Team Fortress 2, Diablo 1, and Portal) are now all gone. And now I have an ant invasion inside my room. Their all over my computer and I currently can't touch it at the moment for I fear they will crawl on my skin and eat me like that guy on Indiana Jones.

In other news, I need help from those who have a Linksys or experience setting it up. I am having troubles getting the Setup Disk to work and I keep contacting my brother(who is now not in the mood to help me due to a girlfriend issue. Gosh...). I desperately need help and if anyone can, please do so. Also, this is my brother's(second oldest) computer I'm using, if that answers your question. Geez, my life is sucking a lot right now it isn't even funny.

o___O... GAH!

Well, the only thing I can think of that will be effective for you is hiring an exterminator. They're all over your COMPUTER? What, did you leave an open can of soda next to it or something? Insects like ants are attracted to sugar and other sweet-smelling foodstuffs, such as candy, etc. Once you get rid of your ant infestation, you should go about cleaning your room for anything that might attract insects.

At any rate, I know a little about Linksys, but just a little.

About the Linksys: return it. I'm not joking. Linksys is absolutely the worst piece of crap wireless router available on the market today. Return it and buy a Netgear. Here's my review of the Linksys router on amazon.com.

There is absolutely no reason to have to install bloatware to 'install' a router. Technically you don't even need to use the disk. But, here's a video on how to install it: Linksys Installation

Old Linksys routers were pretty bad, yes, but the new ones are decent. I use one currently that's just a four-port router with Wireless Capabilities, and it does ok. I don't know how to set one up though.

My rant: I have to wait until AUGUST 1st (Mind you I move in to college on August 10th) until I can finalize my schedule. They said that the College Band course, Music 100D, was supposed to not conflict with any other classes... turns out it conflicts with ALL of the classes I have to take. So now I have to wait until August 1st when I can edit my schedule online and move the classes that give me trouble, because BY GOD I will not give up the opportunity to be a Tuba player my Freshman year. Most other players of this particular instrument get moved to Baritone... which means, on one hand I'll be getting a lot of crap from people (might even have to kick some ass) but on the other, I'll be doing something not many others get to do.

Hopefully. >.>

My E-mail has been dead since March. And I have no idea how to fix it. I keep getting the message "Task 'sending and receiving' reported error (0x8007000E) : 'Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.'

Half the time I have nothing else open, so there isnt anything else to steal resources. I am angry. Very, very angry.
