Well, my week just keeps getting better and better. First, I totaled the only car I've ever had. Now today, I find out that the IRS has attached a garnish to my bank account and cleaned it out. $1680. The money I was saving to pay off school debts and move into a new place. Gone in the blink of an eye. The reason for this is the fact that my dad's name is still on the account, which was set up when I was only 17. He's the one who owes back taxes. But because his name is still on my account (not to mention the fact that we have the same name, except he doesn't have a middle initial and I do), they took all of my money. To add insult to injury, the bank refuses to do anything about it. They flat out told me that they are unconcerned with who the money actually belongs to, just the name on the account, and I doubt they will reimburse me for the overdraft fees which never should have happened. Nor did they even bother do any research as to who was actually using the account. I asked what my options were, and was basically told none. Fortunately, the IRS agent was more helpful. For one thing, he's actually acknowledging that this shouldn't have happened, while the bank doesn't care. So I will get my money back. In two weeks, but I will get it back. Meanwhile, my bank is going to have to work very hard to keep me as a customer. If I'm forced to pay these fees, which total over $200, then I'm done with them. And they'll have to take me to court to make me pay that, cause I'm not gonna do that. You won't give me my money back, then fine, I won't give you yours. If you're not gonna take the time to figure out who your customers are, then you've just lost me. And probably my mom, my brother, and potentially anyone else in my family who banks with them. And I have a big family. Doesn't the bible have something about the sins of the father not being visited upon the son? |

Yeah, first real problem with someone at work. Apparently, the line I'm on (line 2) had ended up putting out a lot of jars with bad seals, and we had to go through and check every jar. That wasn't much of a problem for me, but what really pissed me off is that the woman who runs the labeller had said that I was te one responsible for it because every time I got frustrated with the shrink sleeve applicator (the machine that puts that plastic wrap on the Skippy twin packs), I'd slam the jars on the cart next to me as I took them off the shelf. Now, there's something wrong with the physics on that one. I have (accidentally) dropped jars from shoulder height and not cause the seal to break. The impact of a 40 ounce jar of peanut butter hitting the floor from about five feet is harder than I've been putting the jars on that cart. Not only that, but the bottom of those jars is not flexible enough to cause a change in the jar's internal pressure significant enough to pop the seal when I "slam" the jars down. If I had hit the side of the jar against the edge of something, sure. But there is no way in hell I am strong enough to pop the seal by hitting the bottom of the jar. It'd take less strength to pop the seal by squeezing the jar. Thankfully, though, the person she told that to wrote down that she tried to blame me. I'm a temp. Temps aren't allowed to operate the machines. The problem was that the guy who's supposed to be watching the sealer didn't check it every hour like he's supposed to have done. Because they tried to blame me, everyone on the line who wasn't a temp got written up, so I'm in the clear. However, I can't go in to work tomorrow because I'm sick right now. Should have called in today, but I didn't really start feeling bad until this afternoon. Edited by Alkarii, May 29 2008, 10:07 PM.

Hah, I'm glad that jerk-off got what he/she deserved. I used to work on assembly like that, and it's amazing what people pin the blame on just to save face. It's good you're in the clear. Seems like your company actually has some people with brains in the higher positions. In my former place of work, that common sense was greatly lacking. Feel better soon! It sucks to be sick. |

I am now permanently scarred from happenings at Wendy's. A piece of burnt meat had stuck to the top of the grill (it has two parts; one cooks the top, one cooks the bottom at the same time) and slapped down on my hand while I was scraping excess residue off of the bottom. The big thing is, my main manager didn't do a damn thing about it, even though there is a giant Exclamation Mark-shaped scar (OW! <---) on the side of my hand. Thanks, Larry, Just wait and see what you get for Christmas. If anything. |

Please allow me a moment to mourn the death of my San Antonio Spurs' season. They're about to lose the Western Conference Finals, and the fact that they're losing to the Lakers, the team that I loathe more than any other team in all of professional sports, makes it that much more painful. What burns me about this is not so much that the Lakers are advancing to the championship round, but that it will give the rest of the sports world another excuse to trash the Spurs and fawn all over the Lakers, especially Kobe Bryant. Despite the fact that they are a model team, they've won four titles, and they're exactly the kind of team everyone always says they want to see (stand-up guys, good teammates, good citizens, play the game the right way), everybody hates them cause they're not glamorous. People love to deny their greatness, despite winning all those titles, despite the fact that Tim Duncan is a first-ballot hall-of-famer and one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA, despite the fact that Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, and maybe even Bruce Bowen are likely headed to the hall of fame themselves, despite the fact that they've carried on a tradition of excellence the entire sports world looks up to. Nobody outside of Texas, except Charles Barkley and Skip Bayless, will give them the respect they deserve. They're hated to a degree that no other championship team is (except possibly the New England Patriots, but that's for totally different reasons). Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant, he famous for fighting with his teammates, demanding a trade and trashing his team in the press, and of course that rape trial a few years ago, is lionized and treated like a saint, the second coming of Michael Jordan. Yeah, the most beloved player in basketball is a man who a few years ago was on trial for RAPE. (sure he was acquitted... but then again, famous people are never found guilty) *sigh* Oh well... they'll be back next year. They always are. It's what makes them great. |

What Jessie said. It sort of what my yoga teacher taught us, ads it's usually best to not let those depressive thoughts get to you. Acknowledge whatever important problems there are to deal with, but generally, try to remind yourself what of happy thoughts. I know it's difficult to sometimes pull yourself out of a depressive state, and it can really affect one's motivation, but as long as your aware that your depressed, then you gotta make the to something, anything at all that makes you feel better. Simply doing nothing will not get you anywhere at all. |

"I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams is something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death." — Monty Oum | |

Anyways, the reason that I'm depressed is that there is no love in my life. Does anyone have tips on how to look/act/seem like you're actually worth talking to? |

Just be yourself. Besides, why look for love so early? It'll only lead to troubles later on. Just be friends with a girl for now and hang out. Do something she likes and just get to know her. Don't go for any real commitment until both of you know you're ready. |
