Through a slow, painful process, I will now begin to repost all of the posts from the original S&T thread.

This post can be used as an index in the future. Considering the mass of information to be introduced, this may not be a bad idea.

NOTE: All ships and technology that are personalized and tailored to a specific character should be placed in that character's profile. This thread is intended for GENERALIZED ships and technology that is available for all characters (IE: I cannot put the Blue Falcon's statistics here as they are tailored to Captain Falcon alone, but I can put up the generalized F-Zero information in case others are thinking about creating their own F-Zero machine).

For now, the thread will stand as is as people are cleaning up from the move. Once things have been finalized, remaining ships and technologies will be dealt with at the discretion of the staff.

Post descriptions of your ships and technology (How they work, who invented them, etc)

The Black Mantis

Owner: Ae'zak Ra'zark
Total tonnage: 400
Builder: Ae'zak Ra'zark.
Danger Rating: 82 (Out of 100, 100 being Don't Even Try and 0 being Unarmed. Scale is for fighters only: Other ships have separate scales.)
Shape: Long thin cone, with 2 insectoid wings at the back.
Weapon Emplacements: 6 turret points, 2 fixed emplacements, 4 missle pods.
Weapons: Modular. Typical settings: 2 Railguns (fixed)
1 Ion Turret
2 unknown turrets (He's never fired them. He knows what they are, but no one else does... Speculation points to some sort of molecular converter beam, and a neural synapse disruptor)
2 plasma packet launchers
1 Turreted railgun.
3 Gravity guided missles.
1 M.D.D. missle launcher.

Engines: 4 heavily modified Hereti-Corp X5839 thrusters. Widely considered to be the top of the line. Ae'zak has been busily climbing higher.

Reactor: Polara Anti-matter reactor. Note: Do not open. Will explode.

Funding for the ship came from: Many, MANY black market sales. Plus money from an unknown source....

Ship Frame: Composite synthetic energy dissappating material, coated with gold and lead to deflect radiation and ruin thermal scans.

Scanners: Thermal, Grav-met, Radiation. Back-up: Radar.

Gravimetric sensors

Used by: Exclusive to Federation ships. Some have been stolen by indepent ship pilots or sold on the black market by a certain Lewis Tompson or other aliases. If the Pirates have them, they haven't told anyone.

Inventor: Ae'zak Ra'zark.

Function: The newest and probably most effective sensor out there. It scans for the gravity signature any matter gives out, and then tracks the ones that are past a certain weight limit and of certain shape. Almost impossible to hide from: The only way to do so is to distort gravity itself or hide behind something more massive than you.

Disguise device

Inventor: Ra'zark.
There are a number of weaknesses in traditional cloaking devices. Grav-mets see right through them, and there is a lower tech, though time consuming method: Search space for a ship-sized area where there are NO ambient particles. Even in space, small amounts of elements prevade every section, so if there aren't any, something else must be there.

So Ae'zak designed one that didn't make his ship invisible.
It just made it look on all scanners except Grav-mets just like a small, unarmed freighter.
Grav-mets, being expensive and prone to burn-out, are only used when cloaking is suspected. So, as long as he doesn't do anything stupid, he is ignored.

Weapon: Kearney Alexi NM60 Galvanic Accelerator
Manufacturer: Mason-Kearney
Ammunition: TR Chaff
Power Source: One B fuel cell
Weight: 8 lbs.

M&K galvanic accelerators are handheld, smoothbore weapons designed for use in the Second Codalta War, though the original models were released too late for deployment. They are popular among the criminal element of the Koprulu sector, and, most notably, the space pirates. The Zebeth Armada makes extensive use of captured M&K GA weapons, and even moreso of designs that have been reverse-engineered and improved.

Galvanic accelerators use a slow Gauss magnetic delivery system to fire up to five bursts of chaff dust per second. The chaff is highly charged, and produces distinctive clouds of plasma in an oxygen atmosphere. GA projectiles are extremely hot, often exceeding temperatures of 350 degrees Celsius. Wounds caused by an accelerator are large and extremely painful, and often never heal.

Accelerators carry very large clips, and can go for some time of sustained fire without reloading. They also have relatively soft reports, high nearly no recoil. They are, however, exceedingly inaccurate at range, and their bulk makes precise aiming with two hands difficult. They are most effective if fired in bursts, rather than prolonged fire, or if you don't care what you're shooting at.

DOUBLE POSTED!!

A few weapon types.

Sonic weapons use sound to create strong pressure waves. Most sonic guns are designed to incapacitate, rather than kill or maim, but sonic waves are powerful enough to break bones, and a headshot is still very likely to be lethal. They do not require ammunition and generally provide a high rate of fire for low heat output, but their accuracy is often suspect, and they do relatively low damage, especially against armored foes. Dispersion guns are a type of sonic weapon.

Galvanic accelerators fire solid projectiles using magnetic rails. They have superior piercing power and excellent stopping power with relatively low recoil and report, but they are heavy, and require an energy source. Most starship ballistic weapons are galvanic accelerators, as are many modern sniper and assault rifles. Gauss cannons, rail guns, and anti-matter launchers are all galvanic accelerators.

Plasma weapons use strongly charged chaff launched by galvanic accelerators to create intense heat. They don't have much piercing power, and are totally ineffective against a cold-plasma shield. However, they cause extremely painful burns, and deep wounds caused by plasma fire often never heal properly. All plasma weapons run the risk of causing high collateral damage, and bursts of plasma fire can interfere strongly with electronic devices.

Lasers are focused beams of light. They do not require ammunition, and cause extreme piercing damage with heat. Laser wounds often cauterize instantly, and can be completely painless. Lasers are extremely accurate through a single medium, but refract if they encounter a change in atmosphere. Lasers are a common anti-space weapon.

Phazon weapons are practically unknown outside of Chozo and Zebesian pirates. Phazon is highly radioactive, and enemies that aren't killed by the strike will die within hours of radiation poisoning. Persons are at great health risk within thirty meters of Phazon without wind. Magnetic and dark matter fields are effective at containing Phazon safely, but require dangerous levels of energy. The space pirates used Phazon weapons exactly once, and then gave up. Learn from them.

Federation Central Control (FCC)

Coordinates: X 1722, Y 1103, Z 2049

(Assuming it survives Underworld Exploits...)

Federation Central Control (FCC), is a space station so big that it has smaller space stations orbiting it (it's about 0.22 REUs). Thousands of ships come and go from its various ports in a given week. It's about 2 days from Earth, with Jump drive. It's not spherical, but if you think in terms of the Death Star from Star Wars meets a Federation space station from Star Trek, you'd have it about right.

FCC's computer systems control a vast area of space. It's also the official hub of all Federation military activity. Security is practically impenetrable, the station is covered in guns and sensors and has satellites monitoring communications and networks. FCC is protected by a cold plasma field (they have to raise it) and a point-laser anti-missile system (dodging these is HARD/impossible).

The corridors are Ubo-friendly and patrolled by robots. At least they were before Underworld Exploits, we kind of reprogrammed most of them in that RP. The air vents are patrolled as well. Beware the lockdown system, it's a b*tch. As is escaping from their prison cells, I might add.

The station has an extensive civillian population, mostly families of resident military officers but there's many business owners etc. there as well. I'd say the whole station has 5 million resident military occupants (not including Fed ships coming and going), and at least a million civillians. The military section of the station is separate from the civillian section.

(OOC: This was taken from mine and Xic's descriptions of the place. I'll try to update this some more later...)

(OOC: Sure. We've already got Adam and Gate, and a few others. They're pretty uniformly obnoxious. Speaking of which...)

Artificial Intelligence is one of the great fronteirs of technology today. With technical roots going back as far as 1900 AD on Earth and 1880 AU on Parma, AI has been as much a product of science fiction as science. Now, AI is an essential technology in almost all modern conveniences.

Artificial Intelligence refers broadly to any program or system that emulates self-aware intelligence. Most traditionally, this means a programmed intelligence or a computer, but it also applies to experimental cellular recomposition and cybernetic augmentations.

The most common and arguably the most practical type of AI consists of simply computer code. These AIs are generally made for a specific task, such as operating a camera. Many AIs can be strung together to create a much more complex program. Shipboard and security AIs sometimes give off the illusion of awareness, though they are simply following predefined cause and effect programs.

Computer Intelligences are very useful, and nearly permeate society today, especially in the core worlds. Their uses come as low as air conditioners and as high as starship navigation. Almost all robots still employ simple CIs as their brains.

The search for a self-aware AI has been gaining popularity in recent years. Though regarded by many professionals as frivolous and needlessly expensive, some military groups have expressed an interest in developing computers smart enough to replace personnel on the battlefield. The question that persists is what use self-aware computers have. Domestic androids, such as Cirius Cybernetics Corporation's Caseal series, stand to gain the most, but how society will benefit is still vague.

Though current android technology is quite advanced, and androids are now capable of moving, talking, and in some cases even eating like a sapient being, android intelligence, though it may seem real enough, is actually an illusion. The so-called 'genuine people personalities' developed and marketed by Cirius Cybernetics Corporation, for example, are no more than long CI codes with a little style or quirkiness. The seemingly empathetic characters in games and the personalities of novelty private ship AIs are simply that: a novelty, with no real scientific value.

Self-awareness is notoriously difficult to define, but strides are being made toward an AI that emulates all functions of a sapient brain. In several Parman universities, an argon positron cell was invented, which stores an unprecedented, though still limited, amount of data. Problem-solving AIs continue to be improved upon throughout the Federation.

One of the most ambitious research projects is Cirius Cybernetics Corporation's Project: Demi, an effort to create an artificial replica of a sentient's brain. There was some argument as to what species' brain was to be the model, but the current plan is to use a human brain, as Dejhorin brains are not fully understood, and the members of the project are predominantly Terran and Dejhorin neurologists. The project is estimated to take five years, and up to five billion credits in research.

The project leader is Dr. Jean Montague, a well-known professor at Pieta Academy. His intention is to create a system that emulates a human's emotions, as he states that these are the key to personality, self-awareness, and the ability to learn. Montague commented, "I've invented a time machine in my refrigerator! I'm a genius!"

The mimic technology

Found so far on one known ship Jace Keller's The Relentless. This device uses sensor scramblers and a holographic projection unit to change the appearance and energy signature of the ship. The scramblers change the appearance of the Electro-magnetic signature unique to all ships. The holographic projections change the outward appearence of the ship (duh). Close range grav-scanners are the only thing known to detect the actual ship.

I'm going to try drawing a pic of the ship to help. It'll take some time though.

The White Feather

Class I Small Starfighter

Owner: Vaz

Weight: 250 Tons

Builder: Aeroican Army, some customization done by Vaz

Shape: Boomerang, Engines on the ends and piloting conrtols at the joint.

Measurements: (H x W x D) 10' x 75' x 50'

Weapon Hardpoints: 8. 6 fixed emplacements, 2 missle pods (one on front, one on rear)

Weapons: 4 Plasma lasers, 2 eletromagnetic pulse guns, 2 missle lauchers

Engines: 2 Aeroican LightRunner sub-light engines capable of .637 light speed.

Ship Frame: Various light-weight metal alloys that offer moderate protection. No special coatings were used due to Aeroican Army regulations.

Shielding: 1 Primary Armadillo-class shield generator and 1 Secondary Cover-class shield generator. Each generator is located right behind the fixed weapons emplacements. Only frontal attacks may reach them.

Scanners: Digital, Radio, Thermal and X-Ray.

Aeroican Army Notes:
The Class I Starfighters are designed to be fast and very manuverable. Defensive shielding adds to the difficulty of destruction of starfighter. Not a very offensive unit with few weapons, but when several of these starfighters gather together, they may become deadly. This form of attack is called "Swarming" and is able to disalbe and defeat most battleships.

The shielding system is designed to offer a dual layer of defense. The outer, or Primary, shield protects from most standard weaponry. The inner, or Secondary, shield protects from radiation as well as most ionic or electromagnetic beams designed to disable a ship. The Secondary shield protects from most standard weapons as well, but the additional protection requires more energy and thus can only be deployed a small distance around the fighter, whereas the Primary may be deployed a little farther out. With both shields active at the same time, a dual layer is created.

This ship includes individual sleeping quarters for three (pilot and 2 other passengers), a small cooking unit, a refresher unit, and small cargo space.

The Weather Station

Coordinates: X-3041, Y-5211, Z-4123

Planetary System: Hydera-2

(As I am an extremely lazy person, here are my descriptions of the station, chopped right from Chiasmata.)

The station was an elliptical ring that used rotation to achieve artificial gravity, which was a bit old-fashioned. It was known by the few who cared it existed as the Weather Station. While it hadn't actually been built to control weather patterns, it had been somewhat modified since its creation and actually did control the weather of a small portion of the moon below, where extensive mining operations were taking place.

The moon was fairly isolated, there weren't any inhabited planets in the rest of the system. Its mining operations were extremely profitable, if exceedingly dangerous. Not many workers were willing to risk their lives in hazardous mines, even if it did pay so well you could afford your own ship after a year. Between the isolation and the dangerous work, there were only about 800 people on the station and the planet at any one time (the workers lived on the station and shuttled back and forth to the mines for work). However, as you can imagine, the station tended to accumulate some unique characters.

There was also a small Federation office on board. The man who ran it was fat, rich, and not wanting for company any night of the week. He sent off his weekly reports, walked around for a few hours a day like he owned the place, and spent the rest of his time drunk or asleep. No worries there.

The inside of the station was lined with establishments serving booze, gambling, and T&A.... business hours were after work and all day on weekends.

The bar used in Chiasmata was named "Chez Michael"

Technology: Energy Programs and A.I.s

Known users: Luminoth, Gfed, Space Pirates

Description: There have been creatures known to exist with forms entirely made of pure energy, such as the Bombus and some of the Ing. It is these forms of forms that allows scientist, of any race, space pirate, Gfed, Lumintoht, etc, that energy can a form of the thought. Of course, the Bombus have relatively simple movements and barely show any sign of intelligence; they could be, for all we know, just energy anomalies. And if they aren't, it’s obvious that this "neural net" is very simple, and purely accommodates for its movement and needs, only. This would make it rather hard to discern how to actually make an A.I. completely composed of energy, as they are far more complicated in thought. Ing do, however, show a large presence of intelligence (I could go into more detail about the Ing, and Dark energy itself, but this is unneeded). Sadly, they were wiped out before any one could (except maybe the Luminoth) take a chance and study them.

But nonetheless, studies were taken, and it was proven that, in fact, one could make an artificial intelligence out of pure energy. The Luminoth were ones to implement such things, though other races could have done this before them, they did make the Harmony and Diligince class drones to do their bidding for them. These drones were quite similar to the Bombus in physical aspect, but had far better intelligence.

Other races can produce such things, if they put enough time into studying such energetic natures such as the bombus. The energy state is fairly easy to understand and learn how to replicate, but trying to understand how to make an energetic being intelligent is far harder.

There have been a number of Gfed scientists that conducted some study over this, and eventually leading to experiments in an attempt to replicate these things. They, of course, though with some difficulty as well, managed to make an exact replica of a bombu on their own. Doing the intelligence part was far difficult, and many of the experiments failed, many having a hard time trying to program and integrate the energetic A.I.s into their energy constructed bodies. Attempts to program the module itself all ended up with rapid energy deterioration, as tinkering with the energy nature of them often cause the atoms to become unstable. Attempts to also download a pre-programmed A.I. into a module, which was required to be produced and contained in a special device, caused the module either to overload in its energy stated, or suddenly go berserk.

Gfed scientist eventually managed to create this type of artificial intelligence, though they weren’t as great as mechanical and artificial organic A.I.s. They weren’t used much, as many people found the other types of A.I.s to be far more efficient. And when they were, which wasn’t often, they were used in areas where no other type of machine could be put, or for cleaning duties. Other than, attempts to make an energy constructed A.I that can match the everyday ones were a bust.

Space Pirates also used energy-constructed beings, primarily to patrol their corridors. These, of course, were bombus, which the pirates found relatively easy to make and didn’t take too much out of their resources. They’ve only attempted to create a higher intelligent A.I a few times, but after several failures, they thought it was a waste of their time and resources.

People today still do experiment with these programs, though not by many, in attempts to increase their efficiency, and try to find ways to they can be useful. Some, for some bizarre reason, have even attempted to transmit these energy-constructed programs into regular, almost every day electronic hardware such as computer. These often resulted with device’s circuits fried, and it is unknown if any has every actually succeeded. However, if one did succeed, the device, by pure fact, would show an unusual energy reading, as well as an energy spike only slightly greater than device’s original energy reading. Other than that, it unknown what true effects, bifacial and malicious, these A.I.s would have.

(Aw, y'all knew I was going to do it sooner or later ^^ I'm writing it sorta as though the Federation were doing it and they have no real hands on experience with it. But I'm leaving plenty of ...gaps for you to wonder about.)

The Beflexor

Description: A metal shaped disk, roughly an inch and a half in diamiter. It goes though the palm of the hand and can be seen on both sides. Wires connecting to the three middle fingers are also present. After it has been installed wires form in a spiral pattern around the bones of the arm and lead to the brain giving the user excellent control.

It was originally designed by Luminoth early on during the Ing war to help turn the tide of the battle. It is unknown why the Luminoth didn't use the plans or why they gave them to the Galactic Federation. Originally designed to be a tool Federation scientists modified it useing plans from other race's inventions and gave it weapon properties.

The weapon is, so far, able to manipulate light and sound as well as shoot energy bolts and can magnatize enough to suspend the host's body weight if used from a point such as a ceiling. It is rumored the Beflexor can also give the wielder the ability for dimensional manipulation, but it is unknown whether the tool or the acual weilder holds that skill.

Some have called it a bomb, a doomsday weapon, a tourture device, and even the Key to the Universe. All have been set aside for study however.

The current whereabouts to either the Beflexor or it's wielder are classified.

((OOC: At the moment, this technology is only availiable only in Chozo Rising. It's entirely possible that the technology will be destroyed by the end of the RP.))

Pirate Science Report #44576
Page 121, Paragraph B
-------

SUBJECT: Zero-G Troops

PROJECT STATUS: 97% complete (Unconfirmed)

COST TO DATE: 6.23x10^7 Galactic Credits (Unconfirmed)

PROJECTED COMPLETION DATE: Unknown

DESCRIPTION: Unit 313-37B submitted this project for approval shortly before the fall of Zebes, and managed to get it approved before the death of the Mother Brain. Since that time, 313-37B has dissapeared, presumably to work on this project and several others. We have recieved no communications since the fall of Zebes, so these projections are based on his project proposal.
The proposal detailed mechanical suits for specialized Pirate infantry, to be used for boarding/destroying star cruisers. The suits would contain ample life support systems, some communications systems, and have a limited capacity for on-the-fly modificaitons, to switch out weapons and such. Additionally, there would be two sets of thrusters on the suit, one on the back, one on the chest, that would use a unique ion-based engine for movment in a vacum. Controls for the jets would be mounted on the index finger of both hands, in such a configuration that the controls could be easily operated with the thumb when the hand is clenched into a fist. The controls would only engage when a fist is made, preventing accidental firing of the jets. Ceramics would be used on the feet and anything else to likely to touch the surface of a starship (i.e. mines, explosives) to defend against such primitive measures as electrifying the ship's hull. Also, the suits would be painted black with a speckling of white spots, as a form of camoflauge.

One thing in the project proposal was very intriguing--once the troops hit the surface of the star cruiser, the suit would activate powerful electromagnents in the feet. One set of magnents would attatch the suit to the ship, while the other would attatch the pirate to the suit, so to speak, creating something resembling gravity. A kind of sock would be worn by all infantry using the suit, with metal bands woven into it, making the foot attracted to the electromagnents. When the foot is lifted, the magnents are deactivated, allowing the foot to be easily moved.
Pre-approval analysis of the plan revealed a few flaws. First, the amount of ion core (Xi-297) neccesary for the power 313-37B stated was neccesary, also happened to be just short of the critical mass for that ion. If the core housing (stored on the back of the suit) would be hit by an energy-based weapon, the core had a high probability of starting a nuclear chain reaction, with potential to wipe out everything within about fifteen meters. 313-37B stated that this was, likely, a benefit, seeing as the blast would very likely cripple the ship, although independent analysis shows that the Zero-G troopers would suffer more damage than the ship itself. Also, the initial proposal showed the troopers carrying 100-200+ kilos of non-essential eqipment (ammunition, explosives, etc.). This would not be a problem in open space, but if the troops were to enter a gravity field (e.g., a ship that has not had its artificial gravity disabled) their manuverability would suffer greatly, perhaps completely incapacitation the soldiers.

(NOTE: Unconfirmed spy reports show that 313-37B is planning to use specially modified Pirates for these suits, referred to internally as "Sigma Troops" or "Sigma Batch", "Sigma" sometimes rendered "Σ". If these reports are true, analysts feel it is significant, given 313-37B's peronality, that these troops are designated Σ, the 18th letter in the ancient terran greek alphabet. It is unlikely that 313-37B would give a failed "batch" a letter designation.)

Black Technology

Introduced in RP: Ailurus Revived, but developed further in Confounded Loyalties

Called 'Black Technology' because little is known about it or where it comes from. Believed to be the result of a collaboration between the Federation and an (unspecified) advanced alien race. As of Confounded Loyalties, the Federation was just beginning to impliment this technology in its testing stages.

This technology allows the incorporation of biological and artificial components with increased effectiveness and capabilities. It can be used to enhance artificial technology with biological components, or to enhance biological systems with artificial components (and pretty much anything in between). The extreme of this would be taking complete control of a biologic brain using Black Technology.

The number of individuals capable of developing Black technology is very small, perhaps one or two in the entire Federation. Also, Black technology is extremely expensive in both manpower and components. It is also extremely dangerous, for obvious reasons.

As of Confounded Loyalties Black Technology was completely unheard of. Federation higher-ups and those in the Federation working directly with the technology are pretty much the only ones who know about it. Also, Adam, Samus, and the Ailurus Knights have some ideas about it, but they are still investigating. No one else should have any idea that this technology exists.

Further details to follow.....

Tlezer Cannon

Invented by: Unknown
Used by: Federation (see http://s8.invisionfree.com/MRPF/index.php?showtopic=9&st=0)
Status: Extremely rare.

Tlezer cannons are actually nothing more than antique Jump drives (read http://s8.invisionfree.com/MRPF/index.php?showtopic=359 that were built before safety mechanisms were installed. However, there are no more than 12 tlezer cannons in existence (so NO, your character will NEVER, EVER HAVE ONE OR EVEN SEE ONE IN THEIR LIFETIME!).

Tlezer cannons are outlawed and for good reason. They are among the most devastating technologies out there. Capable of sending a burst of catastrophic energy instantly to any location within a Jump of the point of origin, tlezers are capable of completely erasing cities and military outposts. If a tlezer bolt is launched into the core of a star or planet, there is a high probability that the targeted celestial mass will explode. The nature of a tlezer makes it nearly impossible to determine the origin of the bolt. Since bolts are sent using Jumping technology, they can't be tracked. The cannon itself is small and compact, fitting easily within a large dog house.

Captain Benjamin Ross is the first person in nearly 130 years to come into possession of a tlezer cannon and use it. The whereabouts of the other tlezers are unknown and likely will never be found. Their inconspicuous, simple appearance probably contributes to their mystery. It is very possible that a tlezer exists within plain view of people but isn't recognized for what it is!

(OOC: Just wanted to quantify something talked about in the AI thread)

Metasoul:

About thirty years ago, scientists discovered that, under the right conditions, one's conciousness could be transferred, essentially intact, to an electronic medium. Since then, the process has been performed hundres of times, mostly on top politicians and scientists, allowing them to serve for long periods of time after their "deaths". One prominent example is Commander Adam Malkovich, who became a Metasoul shortly before his untimely death.
The name "Metasoul" was coined by a newscaster during a news broadcast, and is an abbreviation of the words "Metal Soul". She was actually boradcasting a report on the inevitable ethical protests over the process. Since that time, the term "Orgasoul" has also been coined, refering to a "whole", or, in other words, "organic" soul.

Those that create metasouls are like ancient terran architects that built such structures as teh Notre Dame Cathedral--they didn't know how, or why, what they did worked--but they knew it worked just the same. It is widely assumed that the organic body dies in the process, so it is usually administered at one's deathbed, but this has yet to be conclusively confirmed.

Metasouls tend to retain their disposition, personality, memory and name that they had upon the time of "death", sometimes called "Orgadeath"--the organic death. The one notable exception is that of one Dr. Bryan Taylor, the scientist that engineered the process.

Dr. Taylor became a metasoul almost purely by accident, killing his organic boddy at the same time. The resulting conciounsess abandoned the name of its "old self", and is now known by the name 001 (pronounced zero-zero-one). 001 is now distant, aloof, and somewhat hostile, a complete contrast from his "old self". he has also dismissed all of Taylor's work as quackery, and is, quite literally, a completely seperate being from Taylor.

Regardless of Taylor's talents in life, 001 is now a genius hacker. He requires only an open network connection to a device, and can, eventually, hack through virutally any kind of security measure. 001's AI core is kept in his old laboratory under lock and key, but 001 left that some time ago; in his place is now a program he calls 002, his crony. 002 is fairly unintelligent, but is programmed to give the impression of intelligence. 002 calls 001 whenever somethign really important crops up.

Metasouls are, in most cases, stored in computer memory banks, but others have been known to be placed in robots, so they can continue their "life", and at least one (Adam, again) has been used in place of a stock Ship's AI. Still others, like 001, roam interstellar information networks, looking for amusement or something else to hack into.

Occasionally, a metasoul grows tired of the meta-life, and allows itself to be deleted. This process is known as Metadeath (go figure), and no one has even dared hypothesize what happens to the soul after that.

((OOC: If anyone wants to take over 001, go for it--I'm not using him))

.... You are aware that that's waaay out of continuity here, right? I have created most of the present continuity, and as of right now, Losav and Adam are the only 2 downloads in existance, the process is a top federation secret, and only Commander Georges, nee Havelock, has the key.

Actually, I wasn't.
All that info is based of the metroid fusion ending...

I didn't check the continuity here... I just thought that since samus said it, it was automatically canon.

my bad.

...but 001 is still valid, right?

This is a very good, very creative analysis of the end of Fusion. I really like it! The only problem is that I had a different interpretation of the events in Fusion and have already implemented my ideas in here.

I role-play Adam. I like this metasoul stuff, I really do, but Adam's not one. He was part of the Federation Project B.R.A.I.N., or Biological Recipient of Artificial Intelligence Networks. In a literal sense, he was murdered for his brain, which was then directly transplanted into a computer network on board Samus's new ship. The Adam I RP is the real Adam.

I have no qualms with you using this metasoul idea in your RPing. However, you've got to realize that metasouls are VERY RARE, and you will likely RP the only one known to exist. Adam and Losav were the results of Federation experimentation and were NOT accidents. I think it would be awesome if you RPed a character that died suddenly only to wake up in a computer network. That would be scary, I'm sure, for the character and be an EXCELLENT and interesting idea!

The Garganey

Planetary System: No associated planet, the station is instead centrally located along several major Jump routes.

Introduced in RP: Ailurus Revived, Confounded Loyalties

Economics: The station has many private businesses that one would expect to find along major Jump routes, including mechanics, restaurants, and hotels. There are bars and gambling, as well as a moderately-known racetrack. Recently, the station’s owners have contracted with the Ailurus Knights, allowing them to use many levels of the station as a base of operations. The Knights bring in a great deal of business, and this has been a mutually-beneficial arrangement.

Layout: The station has 25 levels connected by stairs, lifts, and access tunnels. Levels 15-25 are for docking ships, and levels 20-25 of these are in use by the Ailurus Knights. Levels 11-15 are businesses, levels 7-10 are private residences, levels 4-6 are rented to the Knights for housing their members (though a great many of them stay on the cruisers), and levels 1-3 are used by the station’s owners.

Mechanics: The station uses artificial gravity. Its power core is stored on levels 14-17 in the center of the station. 40% of the power is generated by the station, but 60% is provided by weekly shipments of recharged power cells. The station has thrusters and can move if needed, albeit extremely slowly and burning up a lot of fuel. Oxygen is provided by three independent generators, each of which is capable of providing enough air for the entire station alone and has its own backup. Most of the docking bays on the station are internal, though there are several external (for those ships that need them) and there are several external docks designed for large cruisers. The Knights occupy three of these on levels 20-25.

Appearance: The station is rather ugly in appearance from the outside. It is a rusty brown color, and tall with a hexagonal shape. Inside is much more inviting, the newest owners have added a great deal of plant life, artificial sunlight, and have supported an art program (so there’s sculptures and painted walls here and there). The station is very clean, and most things are kept up fairly well (though there’s occasional complaints about hiccups in the power on some levels).

Environmental Resources: none

Colonization History: The station is 30 years old, it was originally built as a waystation along a major jump route using private funds. The original owners were poor businessmen, so the station was sold 10 years later because it wasn’t making any money. The second owners fared somewhat better by encouraging small business owners to move onto the station. They sold it 15 years later, and these newest owners contracted with the Ailurus Knights.

Economics: Many small businesses. The station makes money through rent from these businesses and docking fees. The station owners themselves also sell fuel and services to docking ships. Prices are higher than they are on a Federation planet, but are reasonable for a waystation. The owners are also involved in some underhanded dealings, but these are fairly minimal.

Dominant Sentient Species: Humans, though any number of other species may be passing through and many own businesses.

Resident Population: About 600 civilians, plus the Ailurus Knights and any number of passing travelers.

Government Structure: none. The station owners are under Federation law, though there is no Federation office onboard. Federation officials pass through frequently, and the station is inspected once a year. There is a police force that maintains order on the station. Docking officers, employed by the station, ensure that ships are following regulations while docked on the station.

Alliance(s): The Ailurus Knights and the Galactic Federation. This might be something of a conflict of interest, though the Knights are a legitimate mercenary outfit they have no official connection with the GFeds (and, in fact, avoid them whenever possible). The Knights and the station have a standing agreement that no conflict between the mercs and the Feds will arise that will involve the station.

Defenses: None. If the station was attacked it would need ships to defend it.
