If you're a returning member, no, your account has not been deleted, we've actually changed board since you were last here. just go ahead and register, PM one of the staff, let us know you're here, and we'll get right to work converting your information and post count from the old board. Keep in mind that any RPs running on the old site are probably still there, so if you don't see them here, just check the 'Home' Page, and follow the link back to the old board. |

Now, before people start making bad movie references, let me explain a bit. Hot-Shots is what I'd like to label a type of RP. Short, concise, posts that are geared towards increasing board activity and support fast-paced scenes and activities. Typically, this would encompass things such as combat scenarios and generally high-adrenaline activities (car/ship chases and whatnot). Things like investigative, thriller, and general roleplay interaction would probably be far more suited to regular roleplay threads, however. What I'm going for is something that's quick and easy for folks to post without having to devote too much time to it. Effectively, like all threads, you get a strong burst at the front end, which slows down as the thread continues. What I'm hoping Hot-Shots solves is that we can have a constant RP going thats quick and easy to jump in and out of, and one that people don't have to do too much thinking in order to contribute. Now, another thing that might be cool: Adding a very basic, easy to calculate stat-based system. Combat can be one of the biggest things that can snag people, so having a arbitration system such as a simple stat-based system can help speed things along. However, this is subject to debate (along with the rest of the concept of Hot-Shots). If people don't want a stat-based system, we can easily throw it out. I might be suffering from a lack of sleep here as I just finished traveling several thousand miles across the ocean, so if this seems a little hair-brained, let me know. Just wondering if anyone was really interested in this concept. |

I'm listening. But do you mind if I ask for exactly what you mean by stats system? Something what was used in the attempted Transformers RP? And what scenareos would be used? Brief one shot ones? one scene ones? Or would we be having a string of similar RPs done in episodic format? |

You have my interest. Most certainly. Yes... I'm not big on the stat system though, although I do see its merits for helping decide who would win in a fight. You'll have to go into detail more. |

I'm into this as well, although the stat system I'm unsure of, depending on how it's handled. |

For the most part, it would have to be brief one-shots, or brief continuations of other RPs (for example, breaking a Hot-Shot rp off from a regular RP and, when the hotshot is finished, going back to the regular RP)--and as such, would really only be regulated to things like car chases, combat scenes, and other high-adrenaline circumstances (trying to escape from an exploding base, anyone?) As for the stats, I was thinking about something incredibly simple along with a die roll. Basically, it would be a set of (maybe) four or five stats with a number. Roll a die and try and get at or below your stat number. Bam, simple. Example ONLY: Zebesian Space Pirates have a ranged combat skill of 4 and a melee combat skill of 3. In order to succeed at attacking someone, the Pirate has to roll a 12-sided dice. If he, say, was trying to shoot Samus, he rolls the d12 and compares it to his ranged combat skill. 1, 2, 3, or 4 means success; Anything higher is a failure. |

Well, I do like the sound of this overall and it does seem to be quite simple. Good enough for short firefights and such. There is one set of rules which might be good for this though, it's complex at first glance but it's very flexable and can be used in more or less all types of RP: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9KAK8O0H |
