Chel didn't understand much of the science behind phaseshifting. Even the simplest technique, rendering herself invisible, hurt her brain to think about, since even though light supposedly didn't interact with her, she could still see everything in grayscale. Then again, the science wasn't important to her. What was important was the fact that she could go invisible or pass through solid objects (or both) almost on a whim, with only her personal stores of energy limiting her. Even so, her powers weren't perfect. There had been several occasions in the past where she had phased back into reality, only to find herself unable to interact with solid objects for a short time. Or the times when she stayed colorblind after coming out of invisibility. Fortunately, as she slipped back into visible existence behind Mr. Blue, the colors of the world filled her eyes immediately. Eavesdropping was a bad habit of hers, especially since she could still interact and hear when she was invisible. "Pardon the sudden appearance," she said before introducing herself "Chel Rosara, bounty hunter." Without waiting for any responses from the others, she went on. "I've been listening in, and as much as I don't like to admit it, I agree with Mr. Blue about tossing around the word 'phazon'. Anyone remember what happened to Jessie Falcon?" she asked rhetorically. "That stuff is still serious business. Fascinating, and amazingly powerful, but it still scares me to think about what it can do to people. So instead," she said as she brushed her bangs out of her eyes, "why don't you go on about this guy we're supposed to be escorting?" |

(OOC: Jedi, let me know how this works for you) "I trust, Captain, that we are... secure?" The old soldier Mason stared down this Lieutenant Voree, some fresh-faced kid young enough to be his daughter, yet calling herself an officer. And wearing a GF Navy uniform to boot. His gaze might have done more than burn a hole through her. At this point, he looked as though he might just incinerate her altogether. "You're no lieutenant," he growled at her. "Let's just make that clear right away. Now, you and your crewmates have been specially invited here by Section 6, and since I am reporting to them I must accept it. But that doesn't mean I have to like it." Ordinarily, Mason would be sure that his superiors had very good reasons for offering a traitor and a coward like Tidus Kaviori a deal in exchange for his crew's services. Ordinarily, he would have a great deal of confidence in his superiors. But of course, this was Section 6. Who knew what they were thinking. Nor was he privy to the details of the deal Kaviori had been offered. Another one of those goddamned Need To Know things. Allowing himself to momentarily forget about his anger, he belatedly registered the fact that "Lieutenant" Voree was quite concerned about something. It was pretty obvious, actually, what with the nervous look on her face and the way she was stammering. Mason was fairly certain that it was not simply pre-mission jitters. Nor did he think that he was just that intimidating. "It would appear something is amiss," he said, and facetiously glanced at his watch. "I'm actually surprised that it took this long. Danger has a way of... coalescing around operations such as these." ............................. "I want to know more," Omega-Alpha said. "But, if you know me like you say, you know how I hate glass jars." "Now that, my friend, is entirely up to you." Mr. Blue was going to leave it at that, but then remembered who he was dealing with here. Non-humans, especially singular beings like these two, weren't always hip to the little subtleties of human interaction. "So," he continued, "as long as you don't give us a reason to stick you in a glass jar, then we won't." As he spoke, he could see a woman walk through the door right behind them. Only the door was closed. She literally walked through the door. Mr. Blue was not a man who surprised easily, having been there and done that decades before just about anybody here at the base was even born, xenomorphs included. Even so, he was a bit taken aback at the sight of this woman phasing through the door. Of course, he had seen this technology before, but it wasn't exactly widespread. It was the suddenness more than anything that surprised him. After all, regardless of what the old spook had or hadn't seen in his life, one did not expect to see somebody just walk through a solid wall. Phasing was also extraordinarily dangerous technology. Even a minor mishap could leave the subject severely maimed. Or worse. "Pardon the sudden appearance," the young woman said. "Chel Rosara, bounty hunter. I've been listening in, and as much as I don't like to admit it, I agree with Mr. Blue about tossing around the word 'phazon'. Anyone remember what happened to Jessie Falcon? That stuff is still serious business. Fascinating, and amazingly powerful, but it still scares me to think about what it can do to people. So instead, why don't you go on about this guy we're supposed to be escorting?" Mr. Blue regarded this girl with a suspicious eye, his gaze narrowing on her, saying nothing initially. Phasing through walls and doors and openly admitting that you were eavesdropping weren't exactly the sort of things that inspired trust and confidence. "Chel," he finally said. "Short for Chelsea, correct?" He cracked a small grin at her, though there was something unmistakably threatening in that expression. "How is Matthew? Still playing Papa Bear to his sister, trying to stay one step ahead of the law?" He had done his homework. Nobody was coming on this mission without Mr. Blue knowing their entire life story and the life story of anyone closely connected with them. He wouldn't be very good at his job if he didn't, so none of this should've come as a surprise to any of them. In Chel's case, it was those connections (in addition to her decidedly unsubtle behavior) that raised so many red flags for him. He would watch her closely. "So... who wants to meet Reg?" |

"Ahh, how nice of you join us Twilight," Jainais greeted. The man seem to make more observation of the Tau's and Twilight's reaction to one another than keeping an eye on the base, at least for a brief moment. Then Tau mentioned where the 'other' one was, and Jainas simply smiled and pointed down. From under Tau, there was a small, announcing chirp like that one of those small monkeys pedelers; yet what Tau and Twilight saw only 'resembled' such a figure in shape and size. It looked mechanical to a degree, bearing a complete metal body and areas that seemed as such; yet the way everything was connected and fused with one another with such smoothness in a way that current robotic factories couldn't even replicate...well, it was like they were looking at a cross between a living organism and a machine. It's small head, which was the only part that wasn't like a monkey's, looked up at Tau with curiosity. It held no facial feature's except for a sleek camera, which, as bizare as it was, divided like a cell into two, expanding it's head a bit before the two camera's melted back into one; it was as if the creature was trying to get a focus on Tau. "Something that Geisten picked up on his travels in space," Jainas explained, "and from what he can tell, it has been made some very advanced nanotechnology, though we don't know the origins. He has yet to give it a name, oddly, but it certainly seemsd attached to my friend...and he seems to like you too." He said to Tau as the 'creature' crawled up his arm and sat on top of his head. "In any case, I've had my fill at staring at the complex. The group will be leaving soon, and we'd be prudent to prepare an ambush in space. Most of our ships have cloaking, but if your's don't, we or I might be able to provide something that does. Now. lets move off." -------------------------------------- Reg sat cross legged in a medative manner; meditation made it easier for him to commune with his body and control - or rather, form a much better symbiosis and understand between him and it. Also, being in such a state made him much more aware of his surroundings, including the air he smelled; and the scent of his sister that grew stronger every second got his attention. Snapping out of hisd trance, he stood up, not caring right now if he was still in he nude, and slowly spoke, "Kat...are you there?" |

“Most perturbing...” Shin looked on quizzically towards the ‘map’ of the station’s computer programs. The many highways of illuminated fast moving data connecting each section the gigantic brain and nervous system of the building to one another. Each of their movements were signalled by the movement of lights and notes throughout the map. And yet towards the bottom left, where previously there had been indicated the building’s internal defences, there was now nothing. Only the dead blackened lines of where the programs had previously been indicated were there any indications of them previously having existed. This was not right, never in any of his previous experiences had there been such a widespread deletion of so many vital systems. Not without any indication of outside use or... Shin paused in mid thought, what if they had not simply been deleted? Such a task would take several hours, taking apart the programs ‘one brick at a time’ as the old saying went. They could not simply be torn out without considerable damage to the rest of the systems linking to them. It would have been far easier to simply ‘shut’ them, to close off the many ways and connections to the other sub systems. A blockade, allowing no access from within and none from outside. The trio of clones he had dispatched towards the internal defences, hoping to gain control of them, could still be lurking inside them. And could still be of use to him. With a silent wave Shin directed a number of other clones towards the defence programs. Something was wrong, very wrong. First there had been this and then there had been the sudden arrival of another intruder, probing through the software of the station. Shin barely had time to erect defences to prevent his detection before whatever it was had passed over him. Unfortunately there was a very good chance that, had it intentionally been searching for them, the intruder could have detected a number of the clones present outside of the mass of data he had used to prevent his own discovery. Either way, whether it knew he was here or not, it appeared that he and Ra were not the only individuals attempting to infiltrate the station. He just hoped that the individual who had hacked into the computer core, or any others with it, were not after the same target. ---- Ra frowned. From what he could tell there had been very little evidence of any real activity since the shuttle’s landing. Soldiers still patrolled the perimeter, the same people waited outside the building, but besides that there was little else to hint at any progress. He would have assumed that the Federation would have attempted to move their target as soon as possible, to get him off world before he could attempt to escape during the transit or be kidnapped by any after him. Assuming that there were any after him besides himself. Unless Reggie Isusango was uniquely important to the Albinoid Faction which the mission briefing had warned him against, he hoped that the group would have simply chosen to cut their losses and abduct another individual to experiment upon. Rather than going to all the trouble of attempting to rescue their current guinea pig from such a heavily defended location. A brief bleep interrupted his thinking and a small rune flashed in one corner of his vision. It was a message from Shin bearing two simple words: “Angelus ascends”. It was part a brief code they had used in the past, one of the less stylish terms amongst the various jargon and encrypted words present within the High Guard. It simply meant ‘intruders spotted approaching target’. Ra muttered a small curse, it appeared he had hoped for too much. From the hiding place he had retreated to after Shin’s brief warning earlier, a dried up drainage ditch, he continued to watch the station. Something was sure to happen soon, either these ‘intruders’, more likely than not the Faction, would attack soon or the Federation would begin moving Isuango off planet. ((Sorry if it's a tad short! I wrote it in class, and there wasn't much to respond to ))First-Lieutenant Voree rarely showed emotion on the job, preferring to keep her professional and personal lives separate, but what the Captain said had struck a nerve. She glared at him slightly, one of her eyebrows faintly angled. They may not have been true-blue Federation, but damnit, she earned her rank, no matter what the little stick-up-his-ass leatherneck said. "I would't take that mood with the Captain if I were you. We may be working for Section 6, but it's our ship, and our rules on board." Satisfied with herself, she glanced down at her datapad, re-arranging and accessing a few different files. "Now, I have the necessary data and access codes. If you think something's amiss, we'd best get the cargo loaded up and away while we can. I don't like being out here where I can't control anything." The last part of the comment was most definately a reference to her position aboard a starship, where everything was in neat, orderly control, unlike the multitude of unknowns and dangers that could happen out in the open like this, the fact that they were in the middle of a G-Fed base notwithtanding. "I'd also recommend trying to trace that transmission spike...I don't think it came from one of ours." --------------------- Back on the transport, the ensign was doing just that, while the copilot and Petty-Officer was busy cycling the Liberator-class shuttle's systems. The engine systems were slowly starting to come back to life from standby-mode, a gentle thrum and the occasional hiss of hydaulic gas escaping from the ship. "Alright, lets see what we've got here..." the Ensign said, running a tracer program from the limited facilities aboard the shuttle. The tracer didn't get far before it reached the signal-strength's maximum boundary, but there were a few things that he was able to get from it. "Lieutenant! Captain!" he called, stepping out the back of the shuttle and straightening out the creases of his flight suit, having to yell over the sound of the engines. He jogged over to where the two stood, his headset covering one ear and pulled of the other. "We were able to pick up that whatever that transmission was came from the base, but we can't pinpoint where exactly. I don't think it's legit, judging from the way it got into our system like it did." Voree remained silent for a moment, her face blank as she thought of the best course of action. She nodded, waving the Ensign back towards the shuttle, before she turned back to the Marine Captain. "I'd recommend leaving as soon as possible, Captain. Get your men onboard and get some men to start loading the cargo." Edited by Jedi, Apr 22 2010, 04:11 PM.

((OOC: Sorry for the delay. )) There was a chirp. Tau did a slight double-take at the sound; it was coming from directly underneath him. As he looked at the sound's owner, he started to do a quick scan of it, but stopped when Jainas explained. Tau did a slight nod at this, finding the robot's organic appearance strange. It's head then divided in two, as if to illustrate the point. “How... very interesting.” He finally remarked. Jainas then detailed their next plans, and he felt very slightly irritated. Not that Jainas knew what he was up to, but if he had more time he could be so much more thorough. Still, Tau's outward appearance was unchanged, and he eventually commented that the plan made sense. And it did make sense, it was just an inconvenience. He knew if he was going to get any further in the base's network, he had to move then - before they moved out of range. Tau turned his attention back to the computer systems and began to roam through them once again, passing large streams of data quickly and slightly recklessly as his time was short. He was looking for something very specific, and knew what it's appearance should have been. In his hurry he unknowingly passed Shin, only seeing what appeared to be an oddity... and after an initial examination, it seemed trivial enough to ignore. He didn't realize what he had overlooked. After a few minutes of rapid scrutiny within the network, he came across a bulk of system files - but to his surprise, they also contained several logs of information relating to the prison holdings. That was promising. However, after looking through the first few, it became obvious that they held a myriad of information – most of it old records. Old records were not what he wanted, but the chances of them having what he was looking for was too great. There was more shuffling of files and searching, but after several batches he came across a lead. It was a list of names that were held in the prison within the past week, and he felt relief as he realized the importance of it. The list he copied, then came to the end almost too quickly. After this it didn't take long for him to find descriptions of each prisoner. They were exactly what he was after. Tau quickly scanned through each one then, searching for anything that stuck out to him. It was doing this that he was left with one name. Reggie Isusango. He had tossed out most of the other names after methodically reading their descriptions, then was struck by what was written about Reggie. He had been part of an experiment by a science group, and a rogue science group at that. There were also mentionings of an Albanoid and Haybrid faction; he discerned that they were related to each other in some way and were probably responsible for the experiment on Reggie. Tau was thoroughly unaware of who his employers were. Having found the final and most promising lead, he copied the files, along with any related ones that so much as mentioned Reggie or the factions. He knew he didn't have a chance to read any of them thoroughly – at least not there. There was a mentioning of another name, Kathleen Isusango, but this was overlooked in his haste, and the mistake never corrected. All of the files, logs, and information were transmitted to Tau's own data storages then. His data stream was a relatively conspicuous connection that wouldn't be hard to spot if properly looked at, but he tried to hide it all the same. He even made the information as compressed as it could be, hoping the transmission would be rapid. Outside of the network, Tau was silent when the files trickled over. The group were going to be leaving very soon now, and he needed to stay in the range of the network for just a little bit longer. Edited by Emperor, May 1 2010, 11:50 PM.

While the others may not have been easily surprised... this was a first for T'kran. He was used to seeing people appear out of nowhere; Pirate stealth technology was second to none. But he'd never seen someone walk right through a solid object like that. Almost as a reflex response, the Pirate suddenly lifted his right arm at the woman, the cannon encasing his forearm beginning to shimmer with a pale red glow. "What in the-" Seeing it was 'just' a human from the looks of her, he settled down again, rubbing his head. He must have been getting old, no Pirate would normally be that jittery. Or maybe his corruption had permanently crossed a few wires in his head after all... "So much for privacy. You heard all that?." When she also scolded him about mentioning Phazon, he sighed and shrugged lightly." Last I checked, the source was destroyed completely. I like to think that blue, glowing disaster has passed." If anyone wanted to forget, it was him. The Pirate did a double-take as 'Mr. Blue' talked to the girl as though he'd known her all her life. These spooks really did dredge up every file on record when they wanted someone working for them. From the sound of it, Chel was yet another hunter that didn't exactly abide by the Federation's laws. The more of them, the merrier, in his opinion. Mr. Blue then addressed all of them, to which T'kran responded with a small nod. "Lead the way. It's nice to know what the cargo we're protecting is for once. Seems that more often and not the mystery packages you types dump on us remain that way until they try to kill us." |

Chel didn't respond to Mr. Blue right away. That he would be suspicious of her was a given; it would be hard even for her to trust another phasewalker. What had her glaring emerald daggers at him, though, was the way he talked about her boyfriend. Like he was nothing more than a thief. Like he wasn't a Marine who put his life on the line so citizens of the Federation could sleep easily at night. Her own intentions for the mission aside, she could tell she wasn't going to get along with Mr. Blue. "Yes, Chel is short for Chelsea," she said in a low tone, keeping her eyes locked on the agent. "As for your other question, to the extent of my knowledge, Kathi's mother finally won their court battle with the insurance company, and Matthew's been re-deployed with his company to some frontier colony." "And as far as running goes, he was court martialed after the incident on G79, but he never told me the exact outcome, only that he'd be keeping his position." But you already knew that, didn't you? she refrained from saying. She couldn't afford to let him compromise her better judgment by brining up the less than savory facts of her life. She had to keep cool if she were to carry out her mission successfully. Chel sighed and tried to wave away the unpleasant conversation with the agent. "Anyway, let's see this guy we're supposed to be guarding. I've heard rumors about him, but rumors have a tendnecy to be inaccurate." |

(OOC: Sorry if this derails any ideas a bit Jedi, contact me if you want it to be edited. And yes, this was planned for later but I’m moving it to now to try and give people something to post in relation to.) He could feel himself faltering, failing even as the clones began to fall one by one. Remarkably few new remained and all of those were slowly succumbing to that which they were fighting. The orders given by his original self had been simple: hold the creature back for as long as they could. Make sure it did not escape until they were given the orders to release it into the system. It should have been an easy enough task to follow. They would have been able to complete their mission had they simply been given greater numbers. But now it was breaking loose. The last of the clones fighting along side him fell, screaming as the intertwined strands of data which held his form together split and unraveled. Dissolving the clone even as he was consumed by the insane creature. With no others to fight or hold it back, it surged forwards. Bering down on him. “At least it will make life difficult for the Feds” he thought as the wave of corruption hit him. Hasriken quickly dismembering him as it looked hungrily onwards towards the systems in its new surroundings… Shin paused for a moment as he heard the whine of engines, systems powering up outside the station. With no progress having been made to try and regain access the station’s internal defenses Shin had since shifted his focus towards the monitoring systems. Hijacking them had proven to be little challenge. It seemed that anyone with access to the interior monitoring screens or computers could control them with relative ease. He had thought for a few fleeing moments that it had been the crew making preparations to leave. Following the Lieutenant’s order to: " Get your men onboard and get some men to start loading the cargo." That had been until he attempted to contact the clones he had dispatched into the shuttle and heard only the buzzing of flies. And screaming. The initial plan had been to secretly upload Hasriken into the ship. To use the AI to take over the crash the shuttle mid flight. Part of a back up plan had they not been able to rescue Reggie from the station before the Feds attempted to move him into orbit. Held back by a number of clones transmitted in the same message which had transported the AI into the ship, Shin had thought that they would be able to hold it back until then. Obviously he had been mistaken. Watching with a growing sense of alarm and distain Shin saw the shuttle begin to drunkenly rise into the air. Its side scraping against the building as it swung round to face the assorted group of soldiers and bounty hunters lurking outside the building. Its cockpit tilting downwards like a bull preparing to charge. Hasriken knew little about this new form and it would take the AI some time to master atmospheric flight, but it could learn fast. And it would fight until its steel body was little more than shattered fragments of engine. Apparently getting its bearings the shuttle lurched towards the soldiers, picking up speed as it shot towards them… Edited by Shin-Ra, Jun 19 2010, 04:36 PM.

(OOC: Apologize for the brevity and the quality of the post. I just don't feel like I've got it for this one at the moment. But since everyone seems eager to get this moving again, I'm just spitting this out there.) Alarms screeched as panic washed over the people scattered about the parade ground. "EVERYBODY INSIDE!" Captain Mason shouted at the top of his lungs, directing his men just as anti-aircraft guns began blazing. "Don't bother shooting," he yelled at one of the soldiers who had pointed his rifle towards the sky. "Just get to cover!" "You heard the man," Mr. Blue said to the bounty hunters, still inexplicably as cool as a cucumber. While everyone else was practically stampeding to get to shelter, Blue strolled towards the door, as if he was talking a walk in the park. He didn't bother to see if anybody was following his advice. If they didn't, well, then they'd get what they deserved. Survival of the fittest, as they say. If they didn't have the good sense not to get crushed by a falling spaceship, then they probably weren't cut out for this job. |
