Okay, admit it. We all watch anime. Everyone of us watch Shonen anime like Naruto or Dragon Ball, otaku favorites Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star, H-Game Anime Adaptions Kanon and Fate/Stay Night, and some stupid stuff like Bobobobobobo and...... Bobobobobobobo. Well, I think it's about damn time we make a discussion thread about these japanese cartoons and start talking about them. We could make our own section as well, but that's up to the mods. So, I will now begin the thread with this poster of upcoming animes!

I'm pretty selective of the anime that I watch; most of the ones I do watch are some of the more complex or bloody ones.Well, and Gin-Tama.

But yeah, the major Animes that I've watched so far are:

Ghost in the Shell

Trigun

Samurai Champloo

Berserk

I might have to look into some of these new ones though.

Lets, see, some Anime's I like / watch:

Deathnote

Samurai Jack (Does this count? It should)

ANYTHING Myazaki

Hellsing

Ghost in the Shell

Gundam Wing / Mobile Suit Gundam

Evangelion

Trinity Blood

Dragon Ball Z (through the Buu saga)

Naruto (Not religiously, but enough)

Avatar: The Last Airbender (I know it's not actually an anime, but they style is drawn kind of like it and I personally loooove the show...

----------------------------------

Lastly, but not leastly, I've heard they're making a Halo anime. One word:

FAIL

That is all.

*Sigh*...I'm probably still going to get it....(

Evangelion
Oh yes, the Twilight of anime. Should have known that would turn up on someone’s list sooner or later. Sorry, but I now have a borderline psychotic hatred of that... thing. Good choices besides that though.

Anyway, here's the one's i've seen that I would reccomed to others:

Appleseed

Death Note

Devil May Cry (if only for the fight scenes)

Hellsing

Ghost in the Shell

Gurren Lagann

Trinity Blood

Trigun & Maximum

Full Metal Alchemist & Brotherhood

Full Metal Panic

Transformers (say what you will)

Dragon Ball & Z

Naruto & Shippuden

Bleach (up to the Soul Society Arc's end)
Macross

Saint Sayia

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

Akira

Starship Operators (if only for a brilliant series premise and good battles)

Fate Stay Night
"You can live forever or die trying."

Fate Stay Night

Posted Image

Speaking of which, they're making an anime adaption of Unlimited Blade Works, which is the second route of Fate/Stay Night and centers around Rin rather than Saber.

I have a lot of favorites. But my all time favorite, which can never be topped in my list, is THE GUYVER!

Posted Image

First anime and best anime of all time! OF ALL TIME!!!! Gurren Lagann was close to topping it, but I decided that nothing and I mean NOTHING will top The Guyver in my list! Bio-Boosted Armor Guyver for the WIN!!!!!

But aside from that, I also want you guys to report to this thread if you find any good anime or anything worth watching. For example, I found Slap Up Party not too long ago, which is the Dungeon Fighters anime. It's a pretty good anime with a hint of corn here and there. It gets better as the series goes along. 26 episodes long, pretty good, full of lulz, and it makes fun of the Gunner so it gets points for that.

Hellsing, naturally.

Avatar, Dragonball Z (the whole thing), Gundam, and a little gem I recently watched that's one of the most twisted and disturbing animes I've ever seen: Higurashi.

Speaking of which...

Ah yes, Higurashi. Totally raped my mind and disturbed me. *rubs his fingernails, shivers* Gah, thinking about the whole thing still sends shivers down my spine.

Another good anime would be Soul Eater. Granted Bones decided to be JERKS and pulled a Full Metal Alchemist and made their own ending which sucked compared to FMA's, it's a really good show. The manga storyline is FAR superior to the anime's, but the anime isn't that bad. Heck, I enjoyed it up till the last few episodes.

I also read Rosario + Vampire. Yes, I've watched the anime and I did a massive facepalm for turning it into a fanservice festival. The Manga, like Soul Eater, is FAR superior to the anime. If you read the manga first and watch the anime second, you're going to wonder "Am I watching the same thing I read on the manga?" The answer is, NO. Though they do play some stuff right, it's mostly a fanservice anime. The Manga is noticebly darker and the story is much better. Not to mention the fights are very intense and some of them become flat-out brutal. I recommend Rosario + Vampire, mostly the manga.

I also recommend Zero no Tsukaima. Yeah, has some fanservice, but it's not stupid like Rosario's Adaption Decay. Tsukaima has a story, likeable characters, funny moments, and one of my favorite VA's dubbing the main character(woo Christina Vee! She even has a Youtube account! Vallierevee be her name. Check her out.) So yes, if you're interested in fantasy, minor fanservice, and comedy, check out Zero no Tsukaima and it's 3 seasons(so far.)

And.... well, that's all I have to recommend today. Oh yeah! BACCANO! Watch 'Baccano!' people! It's an AWESOME ANIME! DO IT NAOWZ!

And that's all I have to recommend today. I'm Winged Hunter(Kid Hunter) and I remember it so you don't have to.

Um... I don't.

As a matter of fact, I have an active dislike of anime, and otaku culture in general. It ain't my thing. Never has been, never will be.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not here to go off on a rant and list the various reasons why I don't care for this particular brand of entertainment. Just politely pointing out that no, not everyone is into anime, thank you very much. That is all.

Ah Cunning Fox-Chan, you are tasting but the mainstream anime.

I might as well list the mainstreams for myself as well, since everyone's familiar with them and it gives you a good general idea of what people like.

I haven't watched Bleach, I heard there's a lot of characters in it and I've never been good at keeping track of stuff like that.

I've read one or two of the later Naruto mangas, but I haven't watched the anime at all. The fact that it's on Nickelodeon scares me.

I really enjoy Full Metal Alchemist, but I've only seen a handful of episodes, I'd buy the first season but it's a bit on the pricey side and my brother says he doesn't like the series (he and I watch our anime together).

My other brother watched Dragon Ball Z. To this day just thinking about it makes me barf in my mouth a little. I think I would better tolerate Dragon Ball if I had to watch it in some form.

Fox-chan, I'm surprised you didn't list Inuyasha. It's rather mainstream and I think you'd like it, it's got plenty of action from what I've seen. Again, I've only watched a few episodes and I find it's okay.

I can't really dedicate myself to the really popular animes. I don't like how there's a bazillion episodes. Unless I really, really like it, I'm not going to bother. I have a very sporadic schedule and thus don't really have the time to sit down and watch something at a certain time every day. So, rather than watch it on television, I just buy them and watch them at my leisure. I also obviously prefer an anime that doesn't stretch out into infinity with its seasons.

I hate the individual disk crap too. It's a pain to find all of them, they're twenty bucks each, and as soon as you do collect them all they come out with a box set for about thirty-five bucks when you spent just over a hundred! Anyway, here's a list of my collection.

Ah! My Goddess seasons 1 and 2.

I picked up the first disk of season 1 on a whim, having heard of the series. It's rather slow, and full of lovey-dovey stuff, but it has a few laughs in between and some action. I would reccomend it if you've ever been curious about the series, if you want something that isn't all actiony and Over Nine Thousand all the time, or if you're a girl (yes, I know just that last one may drive a few guys away but it is Shojo). I would suggest just breaking down and buying the entire first season. I have 1-5 individual disks of season one, the entire set of season one, and the entire set of season two. I have yet to watch season 2 though.

Reccomended if: You want a slower-pace series that isn't just action, you want a couple of laughs, you want romance, you like heavenly type stuff, you're a girl.

Not Reccomended if: You want all action all the time, you hate romance (especially slow romance), cutesy stuff makes you want to barf.

Price: I paid 35 bucks for the first season box set.

Annoying Voices: Skuld, Beldandy's little sister. It's a little irritating but there have been far worse.

Wolf's Rain

I have the fancy box set, I don't like the packaging though because it grabs your disks so tight you risk breaking them trying to get them out. I bent mine scarily far trying to work them out and it didn't take long for me to move them to individual cases.

Anyway, my brother picked up this series because it looked interesting. It's rather dismal though. I found myself feeling bugged and almost didn't watch the last disk. There is no humor in it at all and watching Karin between it kinda ruined it for me further by putting it into perspective. I finally buckled down and watched the last two episodes and, while I won't spoil it for anyone, I will say it really sucked (in my perspective).

Reccomended if: You like action, epic journeys, the soundtrack, bishonen, wolves, you prefer endings that aren't sad but neither are they Disney-esque happy endings either.

Not reccomended if: You like your storyline to get somewhere in a hurry, romance, happy endings.

Price: Can't remember, paid anywhere from 30-40 bucks.

Annoying voices: None for characters that are around for an espeically long time.

Karin (also known as Chibi Vampire)

I've seen the individual disks around but I didn't notice it until it came out as a boxed set. A friend and I have been reading the manga and we really enjoyed it so when I found out the anime was released in the US I bought it immediately. I was busy with Slayers so it sat on my shelf, unopened, for about six months, oh man what a mistake. This has to be the best anime I've seen to date, and it's going to be pretty tough to top it. I highly reccomend it because it's really funny. It's also managed to be better than the manga, while the manga is pretty good the ending of it is terrible from what I've read (I accidentally spoiled myself). The last couple of episodes did make me cry, and I'm a really tough cookie (afterwards, I requested that my brother punch me on the arm so that I could man up a bit). At one point I was also laughing so hard it could be heard through the entire house, which doesn't happen often when it's something I'm watching.

Reccomended if: You like vampires, you want something to really make you laugh, you want a touch of romance without it getting too mushy.

Not reccomended if: You want a heavy world-saving plot, you have no sense of humor.

Price: I paid somewhere between 20-35 dollars

Annoying voices: The main character herself, Karin. She's just a touch higher pitched than I expected, catching me off guard. You get used to it though. Winter, introduced a little later in the series, has an overly dramatic voice, again, there's far worse, but he does happen to say my favorite line ever which is "Smells like soy sauce."

Slayers

I have seasons 1, 2, and 3 in box sets. I would only reccomend the first two seasons though. 1 and 2 were fantastic while 3 felt very tacked on and was rather lame. It's really good, with a touch of action, humor, and just enough romance that anyone can enjoy it. I'd suggest watching the first couple of episodes online, which is what I did before deciding to get the first season. It was at my Number One position in favorite anime until I watched Karin.

Reccomended if: You like epic journeys, spell casters, Over Nine Thousand type abilities that actually get used on a regular basis (for no reason sometimes), lots of humor, occasioal breaking of the Fourth Wall, high-fantasy type settings.

Not reccomended if: You hate generic fantasy settings, mediocre bad guys.

Price: I can't remember, paid anywhere from 20-30 bucks for each one. Save yourself some money though and don't ever buy season 3. These have been out long enough that you might happen to pick up a copy used.

Annoying Voices: None that I can remember, though one character's voice changes from a wispy soft-spoken type to a deeper more masculine one, I preferred the original.

Rune Soldier (sometimes called Louie the Rune Soldier)

I heard somewhere that Slayers was pretty popular, so Rune Soldier might be something like a knock-off. I picked up the first two disks of this on a whim, this was years ago and I had never really watched anime before, so it has a special place in my heart for being my first. I got the rest of them soon after, and then the box set came out which annoyed me. Anyway, it's really good, has lots of humor, I don't remember too much as it's been several years since I've seen it. If you like anime types like Slayers though, I would reccomend Rune Soldier.

Reccomended if: You like high fantasy settings, humor, very little seriousness even at the end (even Slayers managed to be serious duing the final conflict), you want an anime for a good price, you like the Falcon Punch joke from Super Smash Bros. ("Louie Punch")

Not reccomended if: You hate generic fantasy settings, very little main plot.

Price: I paid 20 bucks for each disk but the entire box set is 20-25 bucks.

Annoying voices: I can't remember any.

Kiki's Delivery Service

This one is actually a movie. I bought it when it originally came out in the US (I want to say I was about 8 or 9) and I never really thought of it as an anime until recently. Though I have it on VHS It's recently been released on DVD. It's a lot of fun, great for kids to watch since it's likely something they haven't seen before. Caused a bunch of mothers to go ballistic and boycott Disney but that's beside the point.

Reccomended if: You like witches without all the evilness (Kiki doesn't even use magic), you like non-serious anime (though it only has a bit of humor)

Not reccomended if: You prefer more grown up anime and storylines, you want plots that go somewhere.

Price: I have no idea, but it should only set you back 20 bucks at the very, very most.

Annoying voices: Kiki's black cat, Gie Gie, has a very masculine voice, which took my and my brother off guard when we first heard it, but I absolutely adore it now.

Here's a list of animes I've only seen the first disks (or four episodes) of.

Last Exile

Reccomended to me by Rip. Got the first disk and, after watching it, looked desperately for the others to no avail. Later discovered the box set and nabbed it up at the same time as Karin. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet though. Looks awesomely Steampunk though.

Anyone watch any of these following animes? Are they worth me scoping out for further disks?

Scrapped Princess

Got this one at a discount store along with the fourth disk. Haven't watched the fourth disk though since there seems to be a lot of story in between.

Angel Galaxy

Again, same discount store. Very fun, this disk managed to stand alone pretty well. Sci-fi setting with humor manages to make it rather unique.

Angel Tales

Scored in the discount store again. Seems like a knock off of Ah! My Goddess. Feels a bit crowded with the characters.
