Not art, but meh. As I've mentioned in RP'er compliments I have been working on a species entry for the Ing, and while I have been very lazy about finishing it I decided to post it here to ask for feedback. I had a long discussion with The Boss about some things, and while I dont directly agree with him on one aspect (that being that having a Guardian sub-class is unecessary) I see what he means by it being too "game-like" or well, whatever he said about it (I forgot the word he used xD) So anyways, here it is, please add feedback to what you think, and what I should change or add.

Species - Ing
Hierarchy: Royal - Guardian - Sub-Guardian - Hunter - Warrior - Inglet/Laborer - Other
Name of Race: Ing (Terror in the Luminoth language)
Homeworld: Dark Aether
Physical Characteristics:
Evolution / Growth stages: While there are many different kinds of Ing most are spawned as Larvae that after some time evolve into a basic, weak, form of their "adult" stage, which later grows and replaces the weaknesses with strengths, the exception of this is pre-Hunter Ing, who turn into a cocoon like creature very similiar to the Ing Worms, where their energy can safely gather and form into their core. Guardians is a very special type of Ing, there are two kinds of Guardians, the Sub-Guardians and the normal Guardians. The difference between the two is apparent in that one is born as a guardian, another evolves into one through one event or another, a perfect example of a Sub-Guardian is the Jump Guardian, which used to be a normal Warrior Ing until it absorbed Samus space jump technology. The higher an Ing is in the hierarchy the more powerfull targets they may possess, leaving the most powerfull to the Guardians and Royals.
Containers: Ing Larvae that has encassed themselves and a form of object with strategic importance to the Hive in a hard cocoon like shell, unable to move much if at all they are very vulnerable but for the most part still takes a decent amount of firepower to destroy.
Larvae: The infant form of Ing, the majority of all Ing start out as Larvae spawned from a Sub-Guardian to Royal Ing. Larvae are born in huge numbers and are not much bigger than maybe a closed fist, though relatively harmless they can swarm creatures with vast numbers. Because of always being in danger due to their weak forms the Larvae usualy develop a strong hate to all non-Ing, making them perfect warriors for the Royals. A Ing Larvae can grow into pre-Hunters, pre-Warriors (Which are about the size of a splinter but much more vulnerable), Inglets or some other Ing that serve different purpouses, such as the Ing Worms.
Inglet: The most basic "adult" form of an Ing, the Inglets are the worker drones of the Ing Hive and therefore perform the most menial tasks available, and while they are not suited for battle they are capable of firing blasts of dark matter from their "eye". The Inglets possess the ability to turn into a black ink like substance and use it to crawl walls and the like with speed, and can even cling to them when turning back to their "original" form. Some Guardian and Royal class Ing possess the ability to spawn Inglets directly, making them usefull as distractions or extra help in a fight.
Warrior Ing: The warriors of the Ing Hive, Warriors differ in size and strength although the generic size of a adult warrior is about two meters. As all other Ing the warrior Ing have black liquid like skin that pulses with dark purple, although they are the only normal form of Ing with legs, five even, the fifth leg being centered below their single red eye and is used most of the time for balance as they swipe away with their two other front legs, however if a enemy is very close or under them they can use it to pierce them. Warrior Ing are not limited to physical attacks however, they possess the ability to generate trans-dimensional beams of energy that, while seeming to be of light nature is actualy dark energy. They can also launch themselves like a missile, and if they hit attempt to possess the target or simply hurt them. Like the Inglets Warrior Ing can turn into a puddle of black liquid and use it to cross almost impassible surfaces. Warriors are fairly intelligent, they possess cunning and can think for themselves, however the Ings most base instinct still drives them first and foremost.
Hunter Ing: Hunters is the elite warriors of the Ing Hive, their abilities of tracking being the finest and possessing the ability to pass through physical obstacles make them extremely good infiltrators and guards for important zones. A Hunter Ing is essentialy just a concentrated mass of dark energy, their core being a red glowing orb which is entwined in black tendrils, with four large ones sticking out on the sides. The Hunter Ing use these tendrils as their main weapons, focusing energy into them as they whip at or try to grasp their target. While they have less options of attack than a Warrior Ing their tendrils hold more power than any attack a regular Warrior could muster, as well as them being able to shift their core in and out of local timespace, making them nearly invincible. Hunter Ing is highly intelligent, which makes them even more dangerous, and while they mostly are still controlled by instinct they possess the ability to "push it aside" with training, a prime example of such an occasion would be to infiltrate an enemys stronghold.
Sub-Guardian: The Sub-Guardians are another form of Ing that has evolved from its initial stage into something greater, although usually still weaker than an actual Guardian. Sub-Guardians usualy still retain most of their original form, with the exception of some changes, these changes naturally depend on their new powers. There is not much to say about Sub-Guardians as there are so many variables for them, one clear thing however is that only Warriors, Hunters and possibly Worms can evolve into Sub-Guardians.
Guardian: The commanders of the Ing forces as well as key point guards, the Guardians are the second strongest among Ing and also the second most uncommon in numbers. Most Guardians have unique appareances, so its hard to say just how they would look, however it is presumed that all of them is huge to the point they make a human look like a mouse in comparison, as well as having great power at their disposal, however they usualy have a huge weakness as well, which makes them killable. Most guardians can spawn Inglets or maybe even Warriors to help with a battle. Unlike the Warriors and Hunters the intelligence of a Guardian varies tremendously, as some Guardians can be super intelligent and others be like the Inglets, however what is clear is that all hold unwavering loyalty to the Royals, and often rule their own subordinate Ing with an iron "fist".
Royal: Royals are the strongest, often oldest among the Ing, and as such also the most intelligent and dangerous. There are never many Royals at the same time, and every one of them vary greatly, often depending on what their task is, such as guarding a large zone or leading their forces. To this date there are only actual records of one Royal, that being the Emperor Ing. However another one was spawned by the Emperor, it became known as Abomination and would be classified as a Prince Ing at the time, now having grown into a stage resembling that of the old Emperor.
Senses:
Sight: Ing have a very general sense of sight, seeing in full or almost full colors and having a forward, almost 180 degree vision. However they also possess the ability to see light and dark energy in more depth, and also see traces of said energy where it has been used, this ability is loosely connected to their "track" sense.
Hearing: Normal, non-warrior type Ing have a bad sense of hearing, however the more battle oriented types have a sense of hearing that is slightly superior to the average human hearing.
Smell: Ing do not actualy possess a sense of smell, that has instead been replaced by another sense that I refer to as "tracking". Although if they possess a organism with a good sense of smell they can still use that.
Touch: Ing's sense of touch is highly developed, allowing them to connect their own sense through dark matter in a similiar way to how a spider senses when its web has been disturbed through vibration.
Track: Most warrior oriented Ing possess this sense, with Hunters and specialised Guardians to possess the strongest, most sensitive ones. The sense of Tracking is the ability for which the Ing can sense, and sometimes see in conjunction with their sight, energy essence that has been left after either organic beings or machines. All organic beings leave some form of energy behind, wheter it is a supernatural energy or simply the heat their bodies radiate when moving excessively, the more a being is on the end of light or dark the easier they become to sense for the Ing on their own, which makes the average human the hardest to track as they are "on the balance". Powered armor and high energy weapons is a direct give-away for a Hunter Ing and higher, however there is a limit to how long someone could be tracked with this sense.
History: The Ing was a young race, but unfortunately there has not been a lot of information regarding where they came from, but a theory that I find highly likely is this. It has been confirmed that the race we come to call the Ing was born when a Levihatan from Phaaze crashed into the planet Aether and split it into two dimensions of light and dark. What is unknown however is why, or how, the Ing was born from this, the theory I think holds most credit is that among the Levhiathan was one, or several Phaz-Ing, a living glob of pure phazon energy, that when they were exposed to the poisonous atmosphere of Dark Aether, as well as the Leviathans vast amount of phazon, they became corrupted, and mutated. The reason why I think this theory holds most credit is because the Emperor's first form is similiar to that of the Inglet, which itself is very similiar to a Phaz-Ing. (To-be continued?)
Culture: (I feel this to be a prety unecessary thing, as the Ing as a "society" is gone. Though I guess a small add to it to explain what it used to be wouldent be all too bad.)
Language: The Ing have a primitive language that they use to communicate with each others, the strongest of Ing having telepathic abilities instead. The "language" concists of screeching, hissing and something resembling roars.
Technology: Next to none, however Ing has been known to possess machinery and from that can learn all they would need to actualy make their own, however they for the most part think they dont need it.
Relations/Alliances: None, they had a one-sided alliance with the Space Pirates on Aether when they temporarily re-created Dark Aether ((Crash and Burn))
