One by one, the troopers threw down their weapons into the sand, various repeater carbines and an odd plasma rifle or two clattering into the sand. The Commander did his best to "gently" set down Ra's unconcious body, but his standards weren't exactly high. The trooper angled his rifle down, holding the grip in one hand as he glanced up at the ship hovering overhead. Likewise, Lieutenant Voree kept her pistol off the ground. "You'll excuse me if I have enough sense to keep myself armed during a standoff. The same goes for my Commander." Nevertheless, the woman slid the gun into the holster along the small of her back, flipping the safety on.

---------------

The Claymore hovered silently in orbit, the outter hull still pockmarked with remnants of the battle it had fought earlier.

"Status of the enemy cruiser?" Kaivori asked simply, the man standing against the railing of the command pedistal that overlooked the recessed databanks.

"It moved into the nearby asteroid field, sir. We lost it's signature when it went in."

"Keep tabs on it. Watch the field, occasional passive and active scans to try and pick it back up." The Captain slowly paced back to the chair sitting behind him, taking a seat and gently scratching an itch along the crown of his head. "And what of First Lieutenant Voree? Have we heard anything since they made contact with the survivors?"

"Uhm...No, sir. We've been hailing them since we lost the two Mosquit-"

Kaivori twitched, an angry huff of air leaving his nostrils. "Try raising them. NOW. And arm the remaining cannons.

"S-Sir?"

"An order, Ensign." A nervous glance passed between a few of the crew members before one last hail was sent down, tuned in and encrypted specifically to both Lieutenant Voree's and Commander Gleason's comm units.

"First Lieutenant Voree of Privateer Claymore, please respond, over. I repeat, First Lieutenant Voree...

-----------

"...I repeat, First Lieutenant Voree, please respond. Failure to comply will result in orbital bombardment.

The Lieutenant placed a finger against her ear, trying to hear the message better over the sound of the ship's hovering engines. Her heart skipped a beat as she realized, twofold, that their captors would probably register a transmission to her (though not necessarily understand it due to the incryption) and that Kaivor had his finger on the trigger. Commander Gleason was already a step ahead of her, pushing her toward the comparative silence of the dropship. "If you don't want all our asses blasted in the next few minutes, don't shoot!" he called back, holding his free arm up in the air.

Voree rushed as fast as her legs would carry her to the dropship, jumping inside and using the thick walls as a sound supressant. Taking a moment to collect her breath, she tagged the reciever on her throat-microphone, glancing up at the roof of the dropship in a silent prayer. "Claymore, this is ground team...we lost a few, but the survivors have been routed. Say again, beachhead secure." There was a break in the conversation, a silent hiss of static for a moment that seemed to Voree to last for a lifetime.

"Acknowledged, ground team. Be advised, more shore parties will arrive in a few hours, circa the planet's sunrise. Please confirm."

"Confirmed, Claymore. Ground team out."
She breathed a very audible sigh of relief, before relaying the information first to Gleason via comm, and then, when she returned to the waiting soldiers, their temporary "captors."

Z'Gato finally exited Travis' ship after it's owner had left to secure Ra, his Chozo armor's visor taking a quick scan of each of their suits, though preliminary estimations of their abilities was still vague at best. Still, his own armor bore several scars of his previous battle with the 'shore' team, and he knew they were at least worth their weight in a stand-up fight, if only for a short while.

Still, this situation was...complex, to say the least, especially when the leader of the team informed him and Travis of more incoming teams, after the threat of an orbital bombardment. Z'Gato could feel his feathers stand on edge for a moment as he realized that meant more enemies to fight in glorious battle, but at the same time, he knew it would be a futile gesture; Resistance against a new wave of enemy reinforcements would see their eventual doom. He would have to secure the Chozo facility, extract anything immediately useful to himself--and the researcher survivors and that archeologist, he allowed--and sabotage what he could, as painful as it would be, to prevent his enemy from obtaining it.

He kept his immediate thoughts to himself, instead scoffing at their 'captives' and crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Marching to the Black Gates...

[ENEMY TRANSMISSION DETECTED.]

Travis watched the words scroll across his screen and almost out of reflex he began to resume a combative pose, but quickly relaxed when he saw the male CO's hand shoot up in the air. He could barely hear him, but he was close enough yet that Travis could read his lips: don't shoot, and that more were coming. Judging from their gesticulations, he could only presume that something was wrong. The hunter's thoughts were sent sailing for a moment at this revelation.

(Kaviori, what are you planning... is that your move...?)

He looked over at Z'gato, the Chozo standing firm atop the Arctic Storm in spite of the fact he appeared to have endured a war's battle. Behind the visor, Travis cracked a smirk; it reminded him of someone he knew a bit.

He walked over, and carefully scooped up Ra; aside from looking a bit ragged, the man looked alright... still, he looked far from in perfect shape.

Jumping back up with a springing of his legs, Travis landed next to Z'gato on the ship's surface and the hatch opened once more, allowing him to descend into the cabin. Activating the secondary medical bed, Travis laid Ra out and activated the restorative fields, which served two purposes of both healing Ra and ensuring he wouldn't further injure himself by effectively confining him.

He then jumped back out again but not before taking a look at Jenosa's body and flinching a bit. Then with out delay he leapt, landing in the sand and walking over to Voree.

"Judging by how quick your reaction was, I'm going to presume your boss has something to do with the sudden hush."

Derad gave out a gruff response to Clark, "I mainly didn't sit very well with the idea of killing them all right then and there; seemed sensless slaughter for some reason. But that was before I also realized the danger of what killing them would do."

he paused for a moment before saying, "I also had a nice chat with their captain just after he fired upon the site, hoping to futily explain that I had accessed their ship's systems by accident; turns out that what pissed them off in the first place. Lovely fellow he was; he was the most civilized and polite jackasses I had ever met in my life, which doesn't make him any less of an asshole than he is. But I never really had a chance to ask his crew of their opinion of him; I guess this might beest moment we'll have to ask them then."

"Their situation reminds me oddly of something...I've been through," he said, and added, "By the way, my names Derad Aundre. I assume Blake's in good health?"

"Does it now? Good to... uh, meet you, Derad. And he is; I've placed him in a medical stasis field, his wounds should start to recover soon enough." Travis paused.

"And no offense, but until you pointed out that detail, I was thinking of how to best protect my allies... but I get your point, I'm not one for senseless death myself." Travis replied, stretching himself out for a moment. "Still, your words only prove an assumption I have about him."

------------------------

Constantine, meanwhile, had found a new interest. Earlier, he had seen through Travis' HUD that Jenosa had displayed peculiar abilities through her suit. One of which was producing a blast of ice in the middle of a desert world, and the other was the peculiar nature of the suit. Slowly, he began to initiate his scans, and started to catalogue what he found...

((OOC: Sorry if this is overly long but i’m trying to throw things together to give my characters some direction.
If you just want the short version of things scroll down until you see ---- then read from there.))

...
...
...-!

Blake ‘awoke’ with a start, immediately trying to roll to one side and twist out of the grip of the soldier who had taken him down before realising that the man’s hands were no longer holding him aloft like a trophy.
Much of the fight had passed by in a blur, one second he had been marvelling at the sheer power of his new body and the next his sight had dimmed and he had gone offline. He had only caught the barest glimpse the soldier before the man’s rifle had slammed into his head but in that brief second he had felt panic. Fear that he might actually fail in his attempts and uncertainty in the outcome of the battle. What was more was that beneath his armoured helm he had actually felt the blow and recoiled with the sudden pain which had shot through his body. None of these things should have been possible.

Whilst trapped in the deepest recesses of his mind, allowing for that governmental puppet Ra to take control of what was rightfully his, he had been used to scapegoat certain feelings and emotions. Any fear, baseless doubt, panic; anything which could have compromised the abilities of his replacement would have been sent through the mental abyss he had been trapped in. ‘Filtered’ through Blake to prevent Ra from becoming a shell-shocked wreck unable to perform his duties. But Ra had come to replaced him, trapped in the same place as he had been for all those years.

“Confused?” a voice suddenly asked, seemingly beaming itself directly into his head “I would be.”

“Ra!” Blake hissed turning and trying to find the avatar, frantically lashing out trying to reach him. It seemed that neither his eyes nor outwards senses had recovered from the EMP effect of the plasma shot that had taken him out.

“Don’t bother” Ra answered sounding bored, almost disappointed at what he saw “I am honestly disappointed. For a short while I honestly thought you were a threat, but you have accomplished nothing. Even that AI you fooled into helping you outright ignored that plan of yours to get aboard the enemy cruiser. All it took was a handful of frightened mercenaries to bring you down.”

“Shut up” Blake growled still trying to find Ra, lashing out blindly trying to find the source of his voice. He knew that it was almost entirely pointless; Ra was lurking inside his skull not just outside of his reach.

“What do you plan to do now? Beg for mercy? How do you think Derad will react to learning of what you took from his master.”

“Be silent machine!”

“Pathetic, you have been trapped inside your own mind for so long you cannot tell what is real or not. You can barely control that body you stole.“

That finally got Blake’s attention “What?” he managed to stutter, unable to believe Ra had simply gotten the better of him. Mindscapes almost always altered themselves to the will of whoever was strongest within them. If Ra was telling the truth, if he was trapped within a mindscape and unable to see or feel anything that meant Ra was in total control of it.

“My neural processors, the complex cybernetics which were designed to allow me to control them, were never intended for anyone else to take over them.” Ra answered in a simple tone, as if explaining it to someone who had missed the obvious “You were only accepted because you are a part of my mind, but your lack of any programming means it is slowly rejecting you. To put it simply; you are too human to control it.”

“Where am I? How’d you escape the abyss?” Blake ignored Ra’s comments, knowing that they were more likely to be lies than the truth.

“I did not. I am still stuck here without a way out, and the EMP effect of that rifle did nowhere near enough damage to barriers which hold me here as the planetary bombardment which allowed you to escape.
You were simply dumped here, luckily for me you were shot in exactly the right place to take you offline. If only for a short while.”

Remaining silent for some time after hearing this, the horror of being trapped inside the mind of another once more overwhelming his anger towards Ra he eventually managed to ask “What do you want with me?”

Ra seemed to sigh “Whether I like it or not you are the one still in control. As soon as the repairs are completed you will be placed back inside my head and will still be controlling my body.
Even if you are rejected, there is no guarantee that I will be able to take over once more. We would be left helpless and unable to move, unable to defend ourselves against whoever you have managed to make an enemy of.” He paused as if considering his words “I am willing to make you one simple offer, if you are able to listen. It is something which would benefit the both of us.”

Slowly, reluctantly, Blake nodded and began to listen to what Ra had to say.

----

Blake’s eyes snapped open, squinting as his eyes adjusted to the bright glare of the overhead lights. Ra’s offer was still at the forefront of his thoughts, the few facts he had listed sounded true. From both what he knew of his ships capabilities as well as the advancements in technology since his death it seemed as if Ra’s scheme, a plan to ensure both their survivals, could work. All he needed to do now was find a way off this world alive. Hardly an easy feat to achieve with the orbiting ship.

Glancing down at his body he surveyed the damage made by the plasma bolt. The gaping crater in the lower right of his chest was a writhing mass of silver metal, nanomachines quickly ‘healing’ the damage. The soldier had been lucky, hitting him in the exact place which would have allowed the EMP effect to take him out. An inch above or below and the attack would have had no effect. Or it would have triggered a self destruct mechanism which would have killed himself along with every living thing close to the shuttle. While thinking about this it took Blake a few seconds to realise that his body’s responses were slightly off, following his commands a fraction of a second after they were given.
It was almost unnoticeable but it supported Ra’s claims that the avatar body he had taken over was starting to rejecting him. He had to get moving.

Slowly Blake pushed himself upright and, with some difficulty forced his way through the restraining fields. Their design had thankfully been made with the intention of only restraining humanoids of average strength. Blake silently crept out of the medical bay he had been placed in wondering which side had tried to hold him prisoner in there.

"Well, it seems you're finally awake."

The disembodied voice seemed to come from nowhere within the ship. It smacked of a British accent, but the gruff of age.

"Ra, I presume?" He continued, echoing into the ship cabin. "Travis and the hunter in black are outside... I should bring you up to speed; Travis saved you from the soldiers... but right now it seems there may be dissension in the crew of Kaviori. It seems rather tense, so I would suggest you stay here... and do relax."

"Good," replied Derad with partial relief and concern; he was beginning to grow suspicious of Blake, especially with how he had taken Jenosa's suit without his permission. If he had not taken it, Jenosa might have actually survived; in fact, he felt very foolish for having even let Blake take him like that without waiting for Jenosa.

But the damage was done, and he would find time to mourn for her later; assuming he had it later. At the moment, they had far more pressing issues. "I understand that you wished to protect your comrades...or allies if you see them as that. I might have done the same, although I'm a scientist at heart; I might have given the troops a fair warning to back off first."

"That said, it seems there was a communication between our 'guests' and Kaiviori. I think it's time we chatted with them...although if you don't mind, I'd like to speak to Blake."

As Constantine compiled and analyzed more and more of the data based off of past and current scans of Jenosa's suit, it was becoming apparent in just how unique it was; even when compared to some of the advanced technology like the power suit Z'Gato wore.

While it bore some familiar alloys, much of the suit, mainly it's blue colored alloys and the inside of it, was largely composed of an unfamiliar polymer - which, while it had no cellular make-up - had a molecular structure as complex as any other organism. There was certainly some technology and electronics bound and meshed within the suit's material, but, with the analysis of it's interface, Constantine could tell it acted far more organic than it looked.

It's ability to interface with the wearer's body seemed to be the most unique and organic aspect of the suit. Based on both previous, small scan and current ones, that there was no neural contact between the wearer and the suit - no implants or metal connecting with flesh. And yet data suggested that Jenosa's body interfaced on such a level, much like Travis's might.

Information on some registered data was limited, but further investigation showed that the suit appeared to be 'breating', almost alive, even alone as it was. It took in the ambient energy particles through it's light blue lines like they were pores - or in this case, the wearer's - and let them flow throughout the person's body like they were his own bio-electric energies, allow his body to interact with the suit in a biological fashion. And since a large part of this energy seeped into the person's nervous system (His spine mainly), the result was the suit and wear acting as a single creature.

Granted, there seemed to be other systems that weren't entirely under the body's or human's control, the data and theory in itself would explain a particular mystery - which opened up a lot more questions, some which were unnerving. The scans of when Jenosa was wearing the suit revealed that it's entire armor was very much charged with an extremely potent integrity field, and yet it was unknown how this source got generated; scans reveal no kind of device integrated with the rest of the systems that might be able to pull that off on such a scale.

And currently, that integrity field was non-existent; just the pulse of the suit's integrated circuits. Even an analysis of the supercooled flash freeze Jenosa did with her gauntlets was unable to reveal where, aside from the pores, they got their energy efficiency and potency.

One of the theories that could fill in this missing link was that the suit interacted with Jenosa's body on a much deeper, unforeseen level. And while they might other theories - as well as other feature's the suit had - evidence strongly pointed towards this factor.

If so, the baffling, and unnerving, question was: How in the hell did a woman's biology create such a phenomenon?

((OOC: Just to say i’m going to wait about a week or so between posts, i’d hope that would be ample time for people to keep up with the pace of the RP and not get left behind.))

Blake’s forehead creased as he heard the voice and fought the urge to draw his weapon there and then, the thought of Ra’s ill fated attempt to raid the ship Derad had been in staying his hand. The voice was clearly synthesised and his enhanced hearing picked up the occasional off tone or minor discrepancy indicating that the speaker was communicating without vocal chords.

Slowly easing back from the combat stance he had crouched into upon hearing the voice into a less aggressive posture, half listening to what it was saying, Blake glanced about looking for any sign of speakers or cameras watching him. If the ship did contain another AI he wanted to know its locations, any weak points where he could blind it should it turn aggressive.

“No offence to your master,” Blake replied as he looked through the ship “whoever he or she may be, i’d rather not be stuck waiting aboard a ship listening to second hand information.
I don’t know who this Travis is and as it was an enemy soldier who took me down I would rather I had some proof that an ally has me trapped aboard this ship and kept under observation rather than the person who shot me.

Besides which who’s Kaviori? What caused the enemy to cease fire and want to talk to us?”
