Medvedev grasped Romain's branch in mid-swing, chuckling a guttural laugh as he threw it aside. "Not need be monster to kill Roman," he spat, still laughing. He jumped back quickly after his remarks, dodging a hurried jab and skidding to a halt in the snow. Romain charged him again, infuriated, but the ancient ursalthrope caught his fist and threw him to the side before beginning to laugh again, his silhouette shifting as he did so.

His arms grew smaller, and his hair thinned out as his face retracted its bearlike snout. Within a few moments, he had reverted to his fully human form, cackling.

"I don't need to be a ursalthrope to kill the likes of you, you pathetic little man. It's no wonder you're so angry about your little girl... I would be too, if I were too weak to protect my loved ones."
"Hmph. I don't even need this rusty sword to kill you."

That was it. Romain was on the floor, the monster above him. It might've just been the light (or the lack of it), but did the monster grow smaller? It was talking in some low gutteral voice to Romain. Maybe it was intelligible, maybe it wasn't. Drunnis didn't much care. He walked out of the shadows, pulling down his scarf to reveal his fangs.

"You! Were-monthter! Begone! Thith fool thall die by my handth!" He grinned, revealing his yellowed fangs.

"Well M'lord, lookth like you failed, huh?" He chuckled as he walked towards Romain. He tried kicking him over to get at his pockets, and failed.

"If you'd be tho kind?" He asked the monster. "On thecond thought, You can kill him athlong as I get hith stuff."

"Kill him?" Medvedev chuckled. "Oh, no, I don't want to kill him." His chuckle quickly turned to a frown. "I actually have a chance to teach this whelp something. In the three hundred years - three hundred years! - I've been alive, I've worked for all I have as a human, and killed to survive as a monster. To survive. The monstrous man leaned down, and pulled his prey up to his face by his collar.

"YOU," he spat, pointing a muscular finger at Romain, "you kill out of spite, not necessity. You kill for revenge. For... bloodlust. You want to see me dead, bleeding, clutching at mortal wounds and begging for mercy. Well, you won't. Not without an entire army's worth of silver and weapons. So, I will give you one chance, only one, to get up and run away. To go back to what you have left of a family and life, and continue to build it. I will not touch you or your family, or your village, as it has been for years. But Gods help me, if you come back to this place, you'd better be prepared to fight for your worthless hide."

He stood up, dropping Romain to the floor. "Oh, one condition. I'll kill you straight out if you tell me about 'my stench' one more damn time." He glanced at the new arrival, another vampire by the looks of things, with a rather amusing speech impediment. "Now, you can kill him if you want, but at least give him a running start."

He then turned away from everyone, still fuming with anger, surveying the landscape. The wind was... odd. He knew of a place where the land had the same feeling, and a sudden rush of adrenaline came over him. He pivoted on his heel, facing the direction of the forbidden glade, the skeleton garden as some had begun to call it, as the corpses there were never fully taken by the earth. "Wait. Romain... you had two assistants with you before. One is quarreling with Alderin... where did the stupid one go?"

He asked, but he had a feeling he already knew.
"Hmph. I don't even need this rusty sword to kill you."
