Notice: If you have a species of your own you want to add, PLEASE PM ME ABOUT THEM AND I WILL TRY TO INTEGRATE THEM INTO THE UNIVERSE. Three days ago. Three unending days. I am Calvuren "Calvin" Annel, one of the sole survivors of one of the strangest doomsday weapons I think has ever been seen. My memory is too clear... The stench of putrifying earth, the rippling, cracking... Tumours, sprouting from the ground itself, as if the whole world had become some fatally ill animal with some horrible mutagenic disease... It all started so innocently, on a midsummer's day out in the fields. I took my radio with me, and decided to see what was on... I looked through the stations. Stations. I heard nothing of great interest on any of them. CCRK-2 Radio was playing some old peppy rock tune... 12NEWS had a breaking story about how the Synth Empire had lent a hand in the creation of several new space stations... Stations... Then I found 'it'. It being a station I've never seen before. It was called Ada4... Ada4... And it was silent. Completely silent... Silent... For a minute, anyways. Screeching. A garbled screeching. Hearing it made my entire central nervous system freeze, as if it was too complex to do anything else while listening to it... Listening to it... I was the only one... The only one! Who noticed anything wrong with the world, for at least a day... Finally people started to notice the giant... Ears... Appearing in people's fields, connected to the ground, surrounded by some sort of fleshy... Stuff. The same sort of stuff that was invading the cities. The morning of the first day, the full extent of the damage was starting to be unravelled... Some of the buildings were gone, in their place, gigantic maws filled with endless rows of teeth... Those that remained had that disgusting, cancerous skin creeping over them... One, I remember almost heaving at... The people in side... The transformation caught them inside... They WERE the walls... I could see them twitching, trying to get free... Their skin... The walls... They were FUSED TO THE WALLS... Walls... Walls... *Calvuren shudders violently.* Things started coming out of the 'ears'... Deformed things... I never got a clear view of one... But they started taking people... I have no idea how, or why, but people I know started to disappear, until I was one of the only ones left... Me and Cirren... Cirren... Cirren... *Calvuren repeats his wife's name for about a minute.* They took her too. I tried to stop them, but no matter how many rounds I put in it's head, the creature just kept regenerating, until tumours started coming out of it's wounds... Finally I saved her. Saved. Something startled them. A disgusting noise. Fleshy. Rippling. They darted for something, and left my Cirren in the middle of the field, just outside an 'ear'... Ear... Another maw had opened, I think... My house was gone... We had to get out of there! We headed for the spaceport. The Tumor had taken over the majority of the place, save for the launch areas themselves... We found others... Others... Huddled there. Many races. Many races. Not just Cybai... We launched immediately. Immediately. 'Is Cirren still with you?' *Calvuren hangs his head and shivers.* She didn't make it... Didn't make it... The Tumor... ATE her... Ate... *Calvuren begins scratching something into his forearm.* But I saw her again... Again... Reaching up... As if trying to secure a spot on the ship... I know she's still down there... Wherever 'there' is now... 'I wouldn't rule out that possibility.' Please... For the sake of my waning sanity... You have to help us! *screaming* For the sake of all sentience, you have to help us! Ada4 will not strike just once! Not just once! *whispering* Many more times... -End of recording- ++Interview with one of the only survivors of the Cuhola incident, carried out by Inquisitor D'uro Shovatoth++ Now, I'll have details of the available races up if people are actually interested in this. I doubt any scene in the actual RP is going to be quite as disturbing as anything mister Calvuren saw, but I wouldn't count out raids on strange Bioships or a journey to a horribly warped planet. This universe is also of my own creation and I may want to bring in other RPs in this universe, which I will set here in the random section. Hopefully it's not too horrible to give a chance. VERY interesting. This kind of thing always catches my attention. Plus, fleshy maws and thing-spouting ears sounds kinda freaky, and that should keep us all on our toes. Post up them race options and details, my boy. I'll be in your RP. |

Thought I responded to this? No? Well, yeah, not much to say, other than I would be interested. Had been cooking up character ideas, but I'll have to reread the summary to remind myself what they were. Kinda freaky, not really one for freaky myself, but hey... I do tend to be the adventurous sort, so I'll figure out some way to survive. Or not, depending. |

NOTE: This ain't your pappy's Sci-Fi universe. In addition to high technology, there is also... MAGIC. Gasp. Well actually, the magic is just really, really high technology. I'm a fan of combined universes like this with arcane starships and the like. I have a list of races that will be playable here, and as I flesh them out further I will post actual information sheets about them. Probably gonna start that later today. PLAYABLE: Confederation: -Cybai -Antivirus -Mechan -Guul'Av -Arthuain Dominion: -Skith -Bilbringi -Wyrm -K'krii -Strider (or Aal'akh'O) Gevurah: -Senvir (SENtient VIRii) -Glitch Continuum (Think WH40k's Chaos, with some tweaks.) -Wo'Kan -Magisterium of Soloch -Quintid (Sorta orcy.) -Tyr'Wane (Tir-Wann-ee) -Kuulaak (Ogre-ish.) -Ju'nThra (Demonics.) -Quenwe (Goblinoids.) (Gevurah has alot more races than this; if you come up with your own idea please do tell me and I'll add it in.) Unaligned(?): -W'Kank (Lean towards the Confederation. Known as Shieldheads. I need to post art of these guys because I can't describe them well.) -Arroc (Motives unknown. Avians. Heavily into Magic.) -Mhn (Mysterious mineral thingies with hard to pronounce names.) -Children of Ebon Stars (or Esvogg. MY GOD THEY EXIST HERE TOO.) NON PLAYABLE: Unaligned: -Humans (Manipulators. These are gods. Don't turn up much.) Dominion: -Synths (The ones who created magic. Gods. NPCs, at most.) ...Phew. Damn that's alot of races. That's because I've been toiling away, designing this universe, for the past few months. I know, I know. This is going to be a hard choice. But I WILL start getting actual information up on these races later today. And this RP is NOT DEAD. Edited by Qualanx, May 22 2009, 06:24 PM.

Anyways, on to the races. I'm really sorry for dumping so many in here; I suppose that just makes for a wider array of characters. And if you have any idea for races, do PM me about them. Name of Race: Cybai Homeworld: 'Primary' (also known as Gilro). Physical Characteristics: The most human of the species of the universe. Generally they stand anywhere from 4 to 8 feet tall, more often than not closer to 5 or 6. Other than that, they are quite varied in their appearance, seeing as they've learned how to cosmetically alter their DNA to produce zebra stripes, horns, strangely colored irises, etc. Originally their skin colors consisted of a myriad shades of blue, although now the Cybai come in almost all colors. Other than that, they've been almost entirely human, morphology-wise. History: The Cybai seem to be a parallel of sorts to Humanity, with several important differences. Several races of sentients had evolved on their world with them, which seemed to have stunted the speed at which they were able to fully change from Kardashev scale 0 to 1. In addition to this, the Synth's 'arcane' Field, now predicted to envelop the entire galaxy cluster, seemed to be especially concentrated near the Cybai homeworld. As such, the Cybai middle-ages were filled with sorcery. What caused their conversion to technology still isn't quite clear, though it could've been them simply refusing to use the same sort of methods of manipulating their surroundings as the other sentients (now extinct). Prior to their spacefaring days they had a relatively capitalistic society, ruled by a world-government. Said government was overthrown by Communism, which then fell into a Dark Age of sorts. Currently, the Cybai are just creeping out of said dark age, now ruled by a second world government, that seems to be using the Communist state as a puppet. Culture: The Cybai revel in a time where personal freedom seems to be an illusion of sorts, though they still prosper as one of the founding races of the Confederation. The Cybai are best known by others for having the most rambunctious and troublesome adolescents and 'teenaged' members in the Confederation, something quite looked down upon by other races. Language: They speak a language eerily similar to English, only less rules are broken in said language. Technology: The Cybai have access to starfaring vessels, and a sliver of the Synth's field has allowed them to travel at immense speeds without the interference of Special Relativity (quite to the opposite of their mathematic statements, which directly state that what they are doing is impossible.) They are still edging out of Gas-rifle technology, and have high-focus, high efficiency pulse lasers and the like. Relations/Alliances: Member of the Confederation. Antivirus, Mechan, Guul'Av and Arthuain treat the Cybai as equals. Notable Members: Gaelen Freewin, current president of the Cybai. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Name of Race: AV-232 (or Antivirus/Avee). Homeworld: Gyalhar. Physical Characteristics: Large digitigrades that seem to be silicon based and quite crystalline. They still retain a humanoid form, however. Their head consists of a crystal orb, from which radiates a large crest, something comparable to hair with the appearance of marble. Generally forms seven points, five in a star pattern at the top of the head, and two that form a two-pronged "beard" of sorts that juts from their face, in line with where their jawbones would be. Two small eyes can be found just above these outcroppings on both sides of the face. Male AVs generally have more pronounced and powerful seeming crests, while females, in addition to being taller, have more elegant crests. Males stand at around 7 feet tall, while females are usually closer to 8. Art of an AV male and female will be posted. History: For the past four hundred years, the Antivirus have been nomads in space, with very few actually still living on Gyalhar. They were uprooted from their homeworld by a primitive, hive-minded virus that only managed to win thanks to sheer numbers and inability to understand the concept of failure. After this, their purpose became to eradicate all viral activity from the universe. A large, almost impossible task, but one that they believe they can achieve. Prior to space, they had a rather complex society where one's social status depended on how flashy and impressive-looking one was, as well as how wealthy they were (doesn't seem that different from today's Human society, eh?). The virus changed that. Only those with fighting skills survived the initial attack, and as such all "dead weight" on their species (the lazy, the rich, and the stupid) were eradicated. The resulting attempted xenocide actually managed to remove a subspecies of AV from existance, the harrowed Halar race, those who fought most valiantly of all. Now their understanding of the necesity of combat skills has clicked into place, as well as seeming fairly Norse. Culture: A strong willed and tact people, the AV pride themselves on taking combat to an art form. In some cases, they have, if you count the removal of a target dummy's head from three hundred yards "art". Still, they aren't a militaristic race of tyrants, nor do they get along poorly with other races. In fact, most look up to the AV as the 'Great Defenders', and in return, they keep up their appearances. Their society also seems to have Norse influence on it, even though they have not once met a Norseman. Or any other kind of human, for that matter. In addition to this, the crafting of things (weapons, armor, actual art) is an alluring job to them. Language: Clicking, grinding and snapping are common noises that the AV make in their language, as well as the occasional chirp, whistle and snarl. They can speak other languages fluently, but will have a harsh, 'crystalline' accent. Technology: The AV pride themselves on being the best forgers of Alloys in the known universe. They really don't exaggerate too much; the alloys with which they create their starships are second to none. Sonic weaponry is used in overabundance, as are other wave-based weapons (lasers inclusive). Relations/Alliances: Member of the Confederation. More races will be up later. |

This is looking really awesome. I get the feeling Gevurah is the main 'enemy' faction, so what's the Dominion's standing? |

Dominion have somewhat of an alliance with the Confederation, though some races still don't quite trust eachother entirely. And Gevurah is definately a negative force in this universe, though they do it for causes that were once noble, but then slowly started to become more and more corrupt. Name of Race: Mechan Homeworld: 'Tertiary' (or Ares. Same system as the Cybai, roughly equivalent to Mars, albeit larger, and with a silicon-based biosphere.) Physical Characteristics: The Mechans are large, sinewy machine entities, with anywhere from two to eight arms, and two to ten legs. They have organic curves in their structure, as well as a repeating gearlike motif, generally found on the head, neck and shoulders. The larger Mechans can near Synths in height (eleven feet), while the smaller ones are generally more comparable to the Cybai. They possess longer than average limbs, and an overall gothic or cyberpunk feel to them. Unlike many other machine sentiences, they are known to wear clothing, which also quite reflects these characteristics. Faces are quite variable. Some Mechans will have mouths, some wont. Some jaws will be hinged completely where they connect with the upper head with fiercely jagged teeth, others will be more humanoid. The same goes for eyes and other sensory input nodes. Eyes could be cameralike, or mimic the eyes of organic creatures. One thing that remains fairly static about all Mechans is their highly gaunt build. They seem to have taken a liking to the crests of the Antivirus, and may attempt to replicate them in some forms. Mechan chassis coloration is generally silver, grey, white, or black. History: The Mechans may in fact have been crafted by the Synths as a sort of 'defence mechanism' for young species. Never placed on the same world as the species a faction is sworn to protect, their purpose was to ensure that life flourished. They kept up this purpose well, and life gained another hold in the galaxy. However, said life was unsure of the Mechans' true motives, and ended up fighting them fiercely. The Mechans, not receiving any commands to return fire, simply allowed themselves to be destroyed until only the Mechans of Tertiary remained. Because of this, some Mechans harbor a deep-seated animosity for Organics. These extremists were exiled about a millenium ago, before they could successfully wipe out the Cybai. The remaining Mechans became the Cybai's first ally amongst the stars. Culture: The main deity the Mechans worship is Ah'hal'raan, or "That Which is Outside", a mysterious entity that is said to lie outside the universe. Ah'hal'raan is supposedly capable of controlling all Space and Time. For some strange reason, Mechan priests that feel closest to Ah'hal'raan seem to distort over time, and become more and more frightening to look at. This 'blessing' is seen as the highest grace possibly given to them. However, for reasons unknown, every time certain rituals attempting to get closer and closer to Ah'hal'raan are carried out, Synth battleships approach Tertiary in numbers beyond common sense. Somewhat of a Theocracy, where those 'closest to God' are the rulers. Language: Mechan language strongly resembles the sort of tones old-fashioned modems made when connecting to the Internet. Ah'hal'raan is a listener interpretation of what is really said, though organics cannot reproduce the exact noise. When speaking other languages, their voices are highly distorted, and sound flanged, like the Synths'. Their language is impossibly complex, and apparently has several concepts that simply do not make sense to organic minds. Technology: The Mechans lie near Kardashev scale Two. They are the driving force behind Confederation technology research and compete with the Antivirus economically when it comes to weaponry and armor. Limited quantum teleportation (15 yards or less) has been attained, though these units are too ungainly and heavy for use by military personnel at this point in time. Relations/Alliances: Members of the Confederation. Notable Members: Haaq Shi'Duun, Avatar of the Void. Current emperor of the Mechan race, and capable of becoming an entity constructed out of swirling darkness. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Name of Race: Guul'Av Homeworld: Haaseki. Physical Characteristics: Tall, with humanoid features. Well, if you don't count the triangular protrusions coming out of their temples, and four slanted angled eyes, usually with a point facing a central circle or "fifth eye", though the sizes of these depend on the race and history of the individual. Skin seems to be similar to some sort of rubbery ceramic compound, so it is possible that the Guul'Av may be Silicons as well. Mouths seem to be more or less human, although they only have 6 teeth: Four large, long grinding molars, and two serrated incisors. They, like the Cybai, have hair. They also have elfin ears and a lithe build. Anywhere from 3 to 7 feet tall, depending on race. Skin tones are strangely human, if not a little more brown. History: The Guul'Av were in an immense war with two neighboring sentiences, the Wo'Kan, and Tyr'Wane. Wo'Kan also called Haaseki home, and in fact they still do. At about 1202 Galactic Standard (seven hundred years before the Cybai were fully industrialized) the Guul'Av were forced to flee Haaseki, lest they want to be completely destroyed and every trace of their culture erased. They wandered space for several centuries, meeting hostility and ruins at every turn, until eventually, they came across Vennen, the system the Cybai call home. Very quietly, the Guul'Av began colonizing the auburn world Quaternary, which they proceeded to call Vasekuru. The now-industrial Cybai noticed some strange activity going on, and their culture went on a brief kick full of alien-invasion and xenocide films and novels. However, as the Cybai began reaching out and exploring their own system (and running across the Guul'Av in intrasolar space) they quickly became allies, the third to join the Confederation. Culture: Humans describe the culture of the Guul'Av to almost resemble that of the Japanese, with very similar customs, art forms, and language. They remain a polytheistic people (one of the reasons the Wo'Kan despised them so much), and seem to have a similar deity to Ah'hal'raan in their pantheon, known as Dhao. Language: A very rapid and difficult to understand language, Geskuru also makes great use of posture and even limb placement to enhance the meaning of certain sentences. They are quite capable of learning other languages, but more often than not speak through electronic translators, because the Guul'Av feel that Confederation Standard is too slow and cumbersome a language to get proper points across in necessary lengths of time. Technology: Kardashev type One. Fusion technology seems to have struck a chord with the Guul'Av, seeing as almost all of their weapons and generators are fusion-based, and in some cases, fission-based. The Guul'Av are the only race who still use nuclear weaponry. Railguns and powered armor (often used in tandem with eachother) are quite common in their military. Relations/Alliances: Member of the Confederation. Notable Members: Seruu Makigainen, current cabinet leader of the Guul'Av, Ku'Sojiin Akmura, ambassador to the Confederation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Name of Race: Arthuain Homeworld: Calenault. Physical Characteristics: Sentient plantforms, likely prodded at by the Synths. In place of hair, the posess a large mass of petals, with many hairlike properties. Very sleek facial features, set against a green-hued and in some places prickly skin, give the appearance of something akin to a nature spirit such as a naiad or the like. Their mouths have teeth similar to that of a venus Flytap, and they have three slender and whiplike tongues. Both sexes are graceful in build, and most males are joked by the Cybai to be total fruits, though this is not at all the case. Though the fact that they dress flamboyantly at social occasions does not help their case. You can always tell if an Arthuain has entered the room if it begins to smell like an especially flowery perfume. High cheekbones and sharp chins (qualities of old royalty) are quite common. Their skin is actually slightly photosynthetic, and their green hue is related to chlorophyll. However, recently Arthuain who have settled on worlds with stars different from that of the homeworld have been turning other colors, from which they can glean the most energy from the sunlight. Generally their skin color will take the hue of the plantlife on their homeworld, if their family has lived their long enough. History: The Monarchy had never failed the Arthuain. A king or queen had seen the dominant nation through hundreds, perhaps thousands of years of troubles, leading them into the stars. They also haven't had a super difficult time in space, which has made them quite... Spoiled, in some cases. Their ability to photosynthesize was very, very useful, and seeing as they only had to bring water and enriched soil with them on their first Generation Ships, they were able to free up space for a great many other uses. Well, they were fine until they started getting deep into interstellar space. The lack of natural light on the first Generation Ships (and the horrid qualities of the synthetic lights onboard the ships) lead to The Great Withering, where thousands upon thousands of colonists became too frail and unhealthy to do anything more than chatter and sleep. Later ships, however, had much more 'natural' lightsources, emitting the proper wavelengths for their survival in interstellar space. They did not come across the Cybai, not once. In fact, the Cybai came across them, and were delighted to have found a new potential trading partner. The fourth and last to join the Confederation. Culture: A species that values gracefulness and efficiency to an almost fanatical level. Military tactics of the Arthuain more often than not involve stealth, trickery and electronic warfare, rather than all out slugfests, though they're still capable of holding their own in such a battle. Lacking in their culture that persists in that of the Cybai, is the ideal that men need to be macho. This is pointed out alot (mostly by Cybai), and something that Arthuain royalty would quite like to halt. However, the Cybai fail to understand how one dressed like Liberaci can be taken seriously. Arthuain clothing is in fact very elaborate and flamboyant, and this is true for clothing of both sexes. In addition to this, the Arthuain also have a monotheistic religion similar to Christianity, though their God also seems to share some qualities of that of the Mechans... Language: A human hearing an Arthuain speak would almost think they're hearing Quebecois french, though it's definately different. It has similar linguistic patterns, though it is by no means the same. Technology: The Arthuain's obsession with efficiency and grace has allowed them to create war machines whose weapons of carnage and destruction are hidden beneath strong and aesthetically pleasing armor, often capable of high speeds and initiating long chains of melee attacks. Arthuain mathematicians have tried for centuries to create a hypothetical perfectly efficient machine, but so far they have failed at every attempt. They seem determined almost to the point of being stupid at reaching such a goal, something echoed in many of their other endeavors, technological and otherwise. Relations/Alliances: Member of the Confederation. Notable Members: Queen Nemiselle Arhené II, current monarch. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- And thus ends the Confederation's information. I will build upon this and take input from others to improve them. Edited by Qualanx, Jun 4 2009, 07:53 PM.
