Name: Captain Matthew Bito Birthplace: Earth Species: Human Gender: Male Age: 31 at the time of CTA Hair Color: Dark Brown Eye Color: Blue-Green Height: 6’ Weight: 185 lbs. Occupation: Captain in GFed Marine Corps Vehicles: Nox (Small, unarmed personal transport) Family: Kathi Hansen (half-sister) Weaponry: -On duty: Standard GFed Marine firearms, armor, and equipment (with a personal preference for silenced weapons), replica Desert Eagle. -Off Duty: Silenced COBRA caseless SMG (5.56mm version of an M7) Biography: Matthew is nothing extraordinary. He was born on Earth and lived a highly uneventful life until he was twelve years old, when his mother died and his father abandoned him. He was quickly picked up by Samantha Hansen, the mother of Matthew’s half-sister Kathi. Matthew continued through school, completing college with a degree in engineering. Matthew quickly found his job boring. When he was 23, he signed up for officer training in the GFed military, and graduated 1st Lieutenant. Within three years, he made it to Captain. Matthew is not the most honest man in the military, at least in terms of past records. Before he signed up, he supplemented his income with funds from stolen goods, ranging from jewlery all the way up to two very nice and expensive cars. Even though he never got caught, he has stayed away from theft and the black market for the past eight years, beginning with the day he signed up to be a Marine Corps officer. Still, other officers have reported mysteriously losing possessions when around him... With a past in theft, Matthew learned a lot about sneaking around, being stealthy, and becomming a good liar. Two of those three things would help in the military. He tends toward using stealth in his missions, usually opting for silenced ballistic weapons that work well at mid- to close-range (i.e.: assault rifles, sub-machine guns, pistols) and occaisionally a combat knife. The Desert Eagle replica, a big, booming 12.7 mm pistol, doesn't fit his normal weapon set, but he carries it around anyway for two reasons. First, it was a gift from a friend obsessed with 20th- and 21st-century guns, and second, the big gun is almost a symbol of authority in itself. Captain Bito is the current commander of one Tango Company, usually stationed onboard the GFS Esperance. About one year prior to the events of CTA, they participated in an emergency military maneuver in lieu of a special-operations team, taking no casualties. The event was highly publicised, and Tango Company got to be a little celebrety unit. The public loved them, and a few high ranking officers even touted them as "the next best thing to a commando unit"...much to the dismay of most of the company's members. The only reason everyone survived was dumb luck, and no one intended to push that luck beyond that first mission. Interestingly, they weren't sent on any more missions afterward, likely because no high-profile ones were available. Matthew himself has a deep belief in the Federation, even if he doesn't always like the particular orders he gets. The old USMC motto "semper fidelis" stands true with him. He also has a deep rooted concern for his half-sister, a tendency to get philosophical at times in conversation and especially in his thoughts, and an inherrent distrust of most bounty hunters. Having signed up for the military in the aftermath of the Phazon War is the primary reason for his prejudice. He just doesn't believe the Federation should trust them as much as it does. There are a few he isn't prejudiced against, however: he holds Samus, the Falcons, and Travis Clark in high esteem; he's OK with Kyle, the "Kid Hunter", but can't take him seriously; and he views Faulias Kayhorn as more of an old wardog than as a Hunter. "Why does everyone still call me 'kid'? I mean, seriously, right now, there's five twelve-year-olds helping fight this battle, and you're calling a nineteen-year-old gunnery sergeant 'kid'? I think I deserve a little bit more respect than that!" "Sure thing, kid." ~ exchange between Gunnery Sergeant Vanessa L. Hansen and Captain Mason N. Dowling in Sami's War | |

Name: Katherine Hansen Birthplace: Earth Species: Human Gender: Female Age: 23 at the time of CTA Hair Color: Brown Eye Color: Sky blue Height: 5’8” Weight: 136 lbs. Occupation: freelance investigator/security contractor Vehicles: Occasionally borrows her brother’s ship Family: Matthew Bito (half-brother), Samantha Hansen (mother) Weaponry: pistols, COBRA caseless SMG History: Kathi, much like her brother, enjoyed a pretty ordinary early life. When she was eighteen, however, she disappeared from home one night. After three days of police searching, she was finally found, but something was also definitely wrong with her. She attacked and managed to kill one of the members of the search and rescue team in a bloody frenzy, and only stopped when Matthew showed up, at which point she wrapped herself around his leg and refused to let go. After she was tranquilized, she was taken to the hospital. There, it was revealed that she had acquired a mutation to her frontal lobe, which caused psychosis and bipolar disorder, as well as the animal-like behavior she had exhibited earlier. She was also found to be developing two other psychotic mental disorders at the same time, which contributed more to her shattered mental state. An insurance-covered prescription of a twice-daily cocktail of injected antipsychotic and anti-bipolar drugs currently allows Kathi to keep her sanity. How Kathi obtained the mutation and other psychotic disorders is unknown, but illegal experimentation is suspected, because the mutation to her frontal lobe also enhances strength, endurance, and tolerance to injury, to the point that she could continue fighting when she should otherwise be dead. Kathi got a job as an independent investigator for the military and police forces shortly after corruption event involving Lieutenant Jessie Falcon. Within a year, she extended her services to include being a security contractor as well. She usually has a very analytical mind, but she’s also snappy at times. She prides herself on her honesty, to contrast herself with her brother. Matthew constantly worries about her because of the occasional psychotic episode when she misses an injection, and also doesn’t approve of her dangerous line of work, but she ignores his input as regards those matters. She doesn’t take well to criticism or to personal insults, especially those directed at her honesty. She has a penchant for wanting to figure things out, but is still much more impulsive than her brother. |
