My idea for an RP is about a godless world under attack by abyssal creatures. The creatures are killing all beings and are tearing the world apart (and pulling it into the abyss). Few groups have survived, most of them are in hiding. The world is somewhat low-tech, about medieval era. RP's can choose to use magic but magic in my world will not be uber powerful (no killing thousands of creatures at same time). Also, keep magic to single elements (choose one or two when you start). The community is generally comprised of selfish and self-serving, but some people are caring. As you would imagine, meat is scarce because the abyssal creature have already killed nearly every moving thing on the planet. Trees and other plants have somewhat survived, and that is the main source of food. The RP's will start in a formerly hidden city, the position is revealed by the government (that has promised to protect everyone) in order to use them as a distraction. Obviously, the city is destroyed and the RP's and fellow survivors must keep on the move to avoid being slaughtered by the creatures. Depending on how the RP's act, the government and the other survivors may respect or fear them; help or hinder. And obviously its called desperation (I couldnt think of a good name) because they are desperate in the fight against the abyssal creatures. Near-apocalyptic worlds in peril is always a popular choice for RPs, and generally an easy one to participate in. I foresee a lot of our newer members taking part here, but that's just me. I do, however, plan to participate. As for suggestions, I'm not sure I have too many, other than maybe supplying some more facts. What are the "abyssal creatures" for example? How are they different from other, resident creatures of the realm? Is "the government" the ruling body of a particular country, or is it controlling over the entire world?

I don't want people making the magic go over the top... for the beginning anyway... If what you want is your person to be posessed by a demon or something that would be fine (though I would prefer only one person doing that). For races you can do whatever you want, though the majority of the regular population will be humans. And the creatures, I did not describe them too much because I am going to make a variety of them and still working on thinking of more. They generally are tougher then normal creatures and some have magic (or magic-like powers) such as one of the creatures would pretty much be a floating eye (I will describe more later) that opens up abyssal rifts to teleport objects. In the opening scene (I would use to show monsters and such, perhaps I should post it here) I plan on making a fight where they throw a creature through a building, and a Rifter (the eye thing) opens a rift to teleport the falling part of the building above one of the humans. For weapons, you can do unrealistically large weapons. In the beginning thing a human has a giant scythe, the blade being about as tall as him. Edited by Green23, Jan 6 2009, 09:36 AM.

Regardless of what's already established or not in the Fantasy forum, I see absolutely no reason why you can't use this story. I've been wanting to loosen up the reigns on some of the sections for a while to inspire people, and I think this is as good a point as any to begin! I actually have a wind magic user I've been wanting to use for a while. I created her for Earthflame's RP, but he kinda vanished and now my character is living in limbo.
