While Kathi was on her normal medication schedule, there was a period of about fifteen minutes between when the old injection began to wear off and the new injection kicked in. This period of lowered inhibitions happened to be when she was coming in for a landing. As a result, she could resist taking the black arrowhead-shaped Nox for a bit of a joyride. Flying low and fast, the transport kicked up a lot of dust, confirming for its pilot that this planet was, indeed, just as much of a dustbowl as it appeared from orbit. On her flight in, she passed a Pelican dropship parked on a flat piece of ground, then blazed by a couple hikers at supersonic speeds, likely scaring the crap out of them in the process. As she got close to the site, however, the new dose of medication had begun to kick in, and Kathi returned to her normal self. She landed the craft off to the side of the other three that were already there, then slipped on a simple set of body armor, just a reinforced standard police issue. Before she exited Nox from the ramp on its underside, she quickly picked up a COBRA .223 caseless SMG and a .45 caliber magnum pistol, leaving the .30 cal assault rifle in the ship for the time. It was just a short jog to the main tent, where she found, predictably, several of the others who had already arrived, including, much to her surprise, a Chozo in full power armor. When she recovered from that shock, she also was surprised by Doctor Tholburn. For some reason, Kathi imagined that the archaeologist would have been much older. A quick rub to clear her blue eyes of dust didn't change anyone's appearance. Kathi stretched out her hand to the archaeologist. "Hi. I'm Kathi Hansen, an investigative specialist. I signed up because, well, because I want to know what happened here. I'm also a decent shot, so if you need me to help defend the site, I'm game for that to. Although, honestly, I'd much rather be helping you figure out what happened here." |

"Why does everyone still call me 'kid'? I mean, seriously, right now, there's five twelve-year-olds helping fight this battle, and you're calling a nineteen-year-old gunnery sergeant 'kid'? I think I deserve a little bit more respect than that!" "Sure thing, kid." ~ exchange between Gunnery Sergeant Vanessa L. Hansen and Captain Mason N. Dowling in Sami's War | |
