Across the void of space, far from the planet a rip in the very reality of the universe opened and closed as a disfigured and tarnished shape disgorged itself from the warp.
It had clearly been an Astartes strike cruiser once, but years and lack of repairs lay heavy upon it’s armoured bulk and many weapons from other ships has been added to it’s design, making it far more formidable than it’s original class had been, despite the severe damage. One side of it’s hull bore the name Aeternum, directly next to the twin-blade icon of the Brazen Templars chapter.

“status?” Captain Armand Sartorius asked from his command throne as the various crewmen and chapter serfs scurried across the bridge, repairing and reconnecting various systems, even as reality took hold of the ship once more.
“The Necrotyr are not perusing, there are no sign of their ship designs and no reports of moral threat” his aide Macario reported pausing to view the readouts before continuing “there are reports of casualties across the ship however, largely stemming from the aft port generator assembly. I count fifty dead so far and rising.”

Sartorius leaned backwards and made a silent prayer of thanks that they had made it through the nebula after the unloving had ambushed them with three of their great tomb ships, the Gellar fields had barely held against such a warp active location but the Necrons seemed to have viewed their act as an intrusion rather than any actual attempt to destroy the Astartes ships.
“Have the sentorium scan this system for our target, the production facilities are-“

“Sir. multiple contacts directly ahead, they’re surrounding the planet” Macario suddenly interrupted “Several imperial and xeno designs, it’s too early to tell but one group are certainly Orks.”
Sartorius leaned back, looking out towards the planet far ahead of them in utter disbelief. This was meant to be a recently colonized planet, one with a large shell production facility but one which was far outside the warzones of the Imperium.
“do we disengage sir? our power levels and thruster assemblies are still mimicking an Exorcist class Grad Cruiser” Macario asked, clearly ready to run rather than fight in this case.
“No” Sartorius replied after a moments thought “order the navigational servitors to plot a course directly towards the planet. Have the gun crews stand firm and our battle brothers prepare for assault.”
“Captain” Macario began “our orders from the Lord Templar are to resupply and rearm, not to…” he trailed off as Sartorius silenced him with a wave of his hand
“and if is our duty to the Emperor and his people to purge our worlds of all threat, within and without.
The Imperium may have turned it’s back on us when those bastard Mechanicus and their pet Inquisitor disowned us, we are still Astartes none the less, and our duty still stands.

Now relay those orders Brother Sergeant.”

Silently, the Aeternum began to move towards the planet. It’s crew silently praying that the Imperials there had not heard of their ‘betrayal.’
"You can live forever or die trying."
