Yea, like those Geico ads. Which I love. Onto the second [awesome?] chapter! Just Across the Street Chapter Two – Watching Us By Naomi Wang Quick Summary: Judith and Naomi notice something strange in the house across from Judith’s. They investigate on the internet, deciding to defeat the creature that could be a threat to all life sources on earth. They find some shocking results. “This…this is…” Naomi said, shocked and frightened. “This is what we’re looking for.” Judith confirmed. Naomi leaned over to read the page better, The Efira Allat For many years, scientists across the world have been searching for a creature called the Efira Allat, which, directly translated, means the silenced beast and/or creature. Humans have never actually seen a real Efira Allat until just recently. A recent reporting in San Francisco, California, by forty year old widow, Christine Jike, reported that she had seen and had heard the Efira Allat, which had resided in the apartment above hers. Police ignored the complaint, but a special group of scientists, called the SSRUC – Scientists Supporting Rescue of Unidentified Creatures – came to Mrs. Jike’s house and attempted to catch the creature. The creature escaped by an open window and scientists believe that it is still in California, possibly near Berkeley. Scientists warn citizens to never approach the Efira Allat, because it is deadly and if angered, could harm and kill many others. If seen please call the SSRUC hotline at 1-800-Awesome. Below the article were pictures of what seemed to be the Efira Allat. The pictures were all blurry and hard to make out. Naomi gasped, “No way…the thing…that creature…the Efira Allat…” “It lives across the street.” Judith said, nodding. “W-what are we going to do?” Naomi asked quietly. Judith sighed; sometimes Naomi was so stupid it pissed Judith off. “We call the hotline and report it. I don’t want that thing living across from me and my family!” Judith scowled at Naomi and flipped open her cell phone. Judith dialed the number without hesitation, Naomi watched her friend, frightened. “Hello, is this the SSRUC hotline?” Judith asked into the phone. “Yes, how may I help you?” The lady from the other side asked. “I want to report that the Efira Allat lives in the house across from mine.” Judith said as calmly as possible. “Did you approach it?” The lady asked. “No.” “Can you send a picture?” The lady asked with the same monotone voice that made Judith start to believe that she was broken record, not some woman working and answering telephones at the SSRUC hotline. 'Is she crazy?!' Judith thought to herself, glancing at Naomi, who was busying herself by feeding Judith’s turtles. Judith’s voice was slightly shaking when she said, “D-do you not believe me? How can I send a picture?! Me and my friend are frightened to even leave the house!” “I understand. Where do you live?” The woman asked. Same voice, same tone. Judith wondered if she was dreaming. “I live in El Cerrito, 1609 Tahoe Drive.” Judith said, steadying her voice. “We’ll send someone over to exterminate the creature right away, thank you.” The lady hung up before Judith could say anymore. Judith looked at Naomi, who was now sitting on Judith’s bed, “They’re coming.” Judith said, trying to breath. It felt like there was no air in the room. “Let’s go down the hall and look through the camera.” Judith was referring to the camera that was hooked up to the front door of Judith’s house. After a while, Judith and Naomi saw on the screen a man dressed in all white – covering his face down to his feet. The man glanced around before entering the house across Judith’s. The door was unlocked and Naomi and Judith read from the block letters on his back – SSRUC. Judith bit her lip as there was a loud squealing from outside. It sounded like a pig dying mixed in with a bird screech. Naomi closed her eyes and covered her ears. When the screaming stopped, Judith glanced back at the screen, the man in white reappeared, a brown sac in his hands. He started to walk away, out of the camera’s view. Judith tapped Naomi’s shoulder, to let her know that it was over. “So it’s done? End of story?” Naomi asked, collapsing on the bed. “It’s over? Did this really happen?” Judith didn’t like that Naomi was just asking questions, not relieved that it was finally over. They didn’t have to live in fear. “Yes, Naomi,” Judith said, sitting down on her desk chair, “It’s finally over. We can live our lives.” Naomi stared at the ceiling, not moving, “If the guy from SSRUC finally terminated the Efira Allat, then…” Naomi sat up quickly, glancing at Judith, “Then tell me why I still feel its eyes on my back?” Creepy much? I couldnt sleep after I wrote these chapters. And I was so scared to go near Judith's house. haha. I still am.
