1) This one you're reading about right now, the Restricted Access Area and 2) The rest of the forum above this area, the All Access Area. From now on, we are going to endeavor to keep the All Access Area more "PG-13." That's in the Rainbow Community Guidelines now. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean discussions that are appropriate between those old enough to vote will stop taking place in our forum overall, it merely means they need to take place HERE, in the Restricted Access Area. In addition to the above, we also realized it would be appealing to some members of our forum to have an area in which only other "approved" members were admitted, could respond to their posts, or even see their posts, etc., particularly when discussing topics some might want to keep a bit more private. Only the members of this area can see whatever you post. NOBODY ELSE, not the other non-approved members, and nobody else on the general internet. The guidelines for approval are more or less below, and we may have to morph them a bit and/or elaborate upon them over time, but that gives you an idea about what we're doing here. Soooooo . . . our Restricted Access Area DOES require more specific consent. We felt the need to segment our overall forum in such a way that would require that, because we do believe that "grown-up" talk should happen only between "grown-ups" that specifically said yes to specifically that. And (or you'll be deleted), only members that can take part in that sort of discussion with respect and intelligence, or not at all. So, you'd like admission to the Restricted Access Area? Great. Here's how: For those who haven't registered in this forum before (All Access OR Restricted Area): ONE: Complete a general forum registration (link at the top, "Register") TWO: Post in the All Access area, at LEAST once. Quite probably 2 or 3 times, unless your first post was pretty kick ass and/or we know you and/or we have some other compelling internet reference for you. Meaning, your post(s) will need to give the Lesbotronic Webmistresses a sense of you as a person, that admitting you will be appropriate and not something we'll regret, and that you can and will behave intelligently and respectfully. In other words, that you are "grown-up," reasonably intelligent, not likely to be a blithering idiot, reactionary homophobe, emotionally childlike, or again, someone that will be offended by "biological terminlogy" as it might be used betwixt other intelligent, reasonably literate, lesbian and/or lesbian-friendly women discussing other intelligent things. We have no exceedingly specific guidelines here other than the above, but a one and only post stating nothing other than, "Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I live in Idaho!" isn't going to cut the necessary mustard here. Your post(s) also need to respect the Lesbotronic Community Guidelines at the very top of the All Access Area. THREE: Go to the top of the forum. There is a text button, "Usergroups." Click that. The only group there is the "Access to Restricted Area Granted" group. Click the "View Information" button. Next to the words, "This is an open group: click to request membership," there is a button "Join Group." Click that. We'll receive an email letting us know you'd like to join, and then we'll decide. You'll get an email letting you know you've been granted access if and when we approve you. (Which will be rather unfortunately generically entitled, "Your request has been approved," so be on the lookout for that.) Your request will not be reviewed instantaneously in most cases, it will be reviewed when we get to it. We do mind the forum most days, but some days we might not get to it. If you don't get an approval email after a few days, that means we didn't think you passed TWO above and we rejected your request. Post some more then request to join again. Please don't bother requesting membership again until you've posted some more in the All Access Area, that would just be a pointless waste of your time. We're going to choose NOT to argue with anyone about why they weren't approved, if such should be the case. Sorry, but we have busy lives too, and we're not going to devote time to coaching anyone on how to sound like someone who meets our guidelines or otherwise arguing about our requirements. I'm sure you understand, if you're the reasonable sort. For those who HAVE ALREADY registered with us: BIG IMPORTANT TIP: YOU HAVE TO BE LOGGED IN TO SEE IF YOU ALREADY HAVE ACCESS TO THIS AREA. IF YOU'VE BROWSED BY BUT ARE NOT LOGGED IN, YOU WON'T KNOW. LOG IN FIRST. If you're logged in but are NOT seeing a bunch of topics in the Restricted Access Area, you weren't granted access, yet. We "grandfathered" in some members that had already posted enthusiastically within the content that got moved into the Restricted Access Area. We took that as their consent. If you have posted a few times but NOT within the content moved to the new area, we did NOT "grandfather" you in, but don't be offended, it's just that you didn't post in that area (yet), and we will not decide that we have your consent unless/until you specifically request access. If you did previously register with us and are now logged in but apparently don't have Restricted Area access: If you've posted already a few times, skip directly to THREE above involving Joining the Usergroup. If you have NOT posted before, you'll need to do TWO above involving posting in the All Access Area first, then do THREE after that. |
