It was, proximately 400 years after the Battle of Yavin, a period later to be known as the Mid-rim crisis. The crisis started a few years after the great reformation. When the Republic, in an atempt to remove the severe corruption within, basically reestablished itself. New senators were chosen, as well as a chancellor. The first few years after the great reformation were prosperous ones, many worlds within the Republic's influence flourished. Technology advanced rapidl. Various worlds including Naboo and Bothawuii became the place of birth for many great artists.

However, this golden age didn't last long. In times of peace, the Republic's army was more symbollic than an actually fighting force. Most soldiers were of more use on the parade grounds than on the battlefield. From the edge of Republic space, from the Unknown Regions, a new threat apeared. Driven into exile long ago, the Sith Empire reapeared. Little was know about how the Lord of the Sith managed to get the man power needed to support such force. It was rumoured that, wherever they came from, they had a vast empire, on worlds unknown to the Republic, many worlds suplied the Sith Lords, each supposed to rule their own sector, with men, resources and sacrifices for them to maintain their power. When the Sith came from exile, they devastated the many of the Republic's border worlds. Leaving smoking piles of ash and dust in their wake. Led by the infamous Force-wielding fallen Jedi, the uncountable armies of the Sith seemed almoste unstoppable.

As more worlds fell prey to the Sith, the Republic did not act, only discussing the matter in the halls of the Senate. For days, the leaders of the Republic sought for an answer to the threat. Iridonia burned, yet the Republic did not react. Most of Ilum got reduced to rubble, even though the Jedi Order asked for help, there was no action taken. After the 'battle' of Bakura, in late 410 ABY, the Republic finally react. Being able to strike at from two entirely diffrent directions allerted the Senate, quickly reacting. The current Republic army was stationed at various key worlds, serving as nothing more but garrison troops.

For the counter attack, the Sith Empire couldn't be ignored any longer now, the Republic quickly began a new training program, taking only the best most dedicated men and women. Equiped with highly-advanced weapons, using state-of-the-art technology and with superrior training. A strike of of aproximately 800 marines along with a handfull of Jedi were send to lift the siege at Ord Mantel. Using a new expirimental method of rapid insertion, named the Durastin project, after the famous physicist, the 800 marines managed to deploy from the hanger of their ship, Manticore, in and around the capital of the planet in mere minutes. This new, Through the use of their supperior training and equipment, the Republic marines and their Jedi managed to lift the siege, the Republic's first victory in the Mid-rim crisis.

After the victory at the battle of Ord Mantel, the Republic trained several companies of specialized troops, deploying them on various fronts against the Sith Empire. Both sides seemed to be equally strong. The Sith outnumbering Republic troops one to three. Which the Republic's skilled soldiers and advanced technology made up. With Sith and Jedi order fighting both their own war and the other, neither the Republic or the Empire had extra assets. The fate of the Galaxy would ultimately be decided by the acts of various individuals, ending the war in favour of...

It warms my heart to watch wyrst type his little knuckles bloody on this forum without any return promise of future development. Its a brave stride into the darkness of an under water cave carrying a stick in flames, being attacked by vermin with the knowledge that going back is not possible due to a cave-in at the entrance, symbolized by past forums.

I hope that like rambo he finds the ladder of community to continue the adventure.

Equiped with highly-advanced weapons, using state-of-the-art technology and with superrior training. A strike of of aproximately 800 marines along with a handfull of Jedi were send to lift the siege at Ord Mantel. Using a new expirimental type of hyperdrive, named the Durastin project, after the famous physicist, the 800 marines managed to deploy from the hanger of their ship, Manticore, in and around the capital of the planet in mere seconds. This new, personal hyperdrive pack got very close to concept of teleportation, achieving the same result through other means however. Through the use of their supperior training and equipment, the Republic marines and their Jedi managed to lift the siege, the Republic's first victory in the Mid-rim crisis.

Hyperspace doesn't work that way. Without relativistic shields they'd suffer immense time dilation and arrive on planet a couple hundred years in the future. Without navigation systems they wouldn't be able to plot a course. Considering you still actually move in hyperspace, they'd be ripped to shreds by the impact with the planets gravity well. They also went to hyperspace INSIDE the ships hangar, which means they'd impact the ship and cause it to explode. Hyperspace is also filled with deadly radiations that would kill the marines during their travel.

He has a point, however. This ultimate comes down to... This is Star Wars. Not Star Trek.
