Random Suzaku Kururugi Fact of the Month

Suzaku Kururugi was actually the missing link needed to create the Atomic Bomb. Scientists were baffled on how to fabricate the weapon until Suzaku showed them a Spinzaku in real time. Everything soon became clear to them.

Character of the Month
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad was born to parents of particularly low status in the Holy Britannian Empire. Her mother was a simple chambermaid to the Royal Family and her father was a low ranking soldier in the military. Her father was killed early on when the Black Knights first appeared and her mother was killed soon after when during the Battle of Narita. Sent to live with her grandfather, she spent the better part of her years with him, learning how to be a proud soldier of Britannia. When he too was killed in the line of fire and when the Black Knights finally emerged triumphant, she was left with nothing. As such, she didn't hesitate to join the Britannian Restoration League upon hearing of their creation to get a shot at payback. All she could think of was destroying Zero and 'restoring' her homeland. Now a full fledged member of the BRL, Wendy's specialty is infiltration and espionage and she is often assigned to go undercover in Japan for various reasons. Has a long standing rivalry with Reid Legato, Becca Buchanan, and just about anyone else that gets on her nerves. She is probably well known for her white hot temper and 'shoot first, ask later' disposition.

As they reached the exit, Aoi sighed. It would be a long time until he would sleep under the boughs of those trees again or listen to the wind rustle the leaves or even hear the owls interrupt his slumber. It was like leaving family. But at the least he would be back. Finally starting to pay attention, Aoi saw that the crowd had yet to dissipate.

Not giving them a second thought, Aoi looked over to see that Becca had run off to get something. Waiting for her return, he saw that she came back with two cups of fresh hot chocolate. Looking down at his equipment, Aoi grinned. Unless he grew a third arm, there was no way he'd be able to drink it. Walking over to a nearby bench, he dropped his equipment on the ground with a thud. Taking the cup with a thank you, Aoi plopped down on the bench and started to sip at the hot chocolate. Like before, it quickly spread warmth in every nook of his body. Feeling relaxed, Aoi leaned back and stared at the sky. Barely catching Becca's question, Aoi sat up.

"Sure, if you want me to. I'm not doing anything important there."

Letting the silence resume, Aoi continued to sip at his hot chocolate. Thinking about her question, Aoi rejoined:

"If you don't mind me asking. Why are you asking if I'll visit you in Japan? Just curious."

He knew that it was a little blunt, but there wasn't really any other way to ask it.

Becca was relieved to see that Aoi had accepted her hot chocolate and had even dropped all of his heavy equipment for the sake of it. She had to hold back just how embarrassed she felt at the current moment and hoped that Aoi wouldn't notice. Knowing him though, he'd most likely realize.

Taking a seat beside Aoi on the bench, Becca had also begun to sip her cocoa. She was pleased with the answer she had received from Aoi, feeling a wave of relief sweep over her like a cool breeze. However, his inquisition to follow had thrown her for a loop. Becca herself had no idea why she had asked her question to begin with, so hi would she give him an answer as to why? It was just in the spur of the moment, something she blurted out before even reflecting on her own words.

Err...I don't really know. I guess I just don't want to lose contact with you when we go our separate ways and all. To be honest, I think I'd worry about you after hearing your story. I don't like you just drifting along like some sort of lonely tumble weed and---”, Becca rambled on.

She cut herself off upon realizing that she was indeed going on about nonsense and was probably making herself look like a complete idiot. Instead of going on, she turned away and begun to sip her hot chocolate once more. It had calmed her down for a second too, numbing her embarrassment to some extent.

Aoi couldn't help but smile and shake his head. Knowing exactly how to respond, he said:

"Becca. I've been able to keep my composure for a good amount of years. Just because I'll be living alone doesn't mean that I'll suddenly snap and go on a murderous rampage. Believe me, I can take care of myself. Anyways, I don't think I'd be able to do something like that. I just don't see it happening."

Aoi saw that she turned away. Most likely trying to hide her embarrassment. Feeling like it was his fault, Aoi tried to think of something to say so that she wouldn't feel worried. Finding a suitable response, Aoi added:

"Don't worry. I'll be fine. If anything, I'd be more concerned about what you'd do when you get back. Worry about yourself for a little."

Taking her time with her hot cocoa, Becca had begun to dwell on Aoi's words. Now that she thought about it, people would most likely be worried about her safety far more than she was. It was probably because of the simple fact that they though she couldn't be a soldier. That would most likely be the reason if her Dad even bothered to care. It upsetted Becca that everyone felt this way, especially since they've never seen her full potential. Everything Becca had done in her life up til now was pretty much half-assed. So perhaps it was her own fault that people have came up with the concept of Becca being just one frail little girl.

Instead of lashing out at Aoi for his comment, she instead held her tongue, not wanting to drive away possibly the only friend she truly had left here. It wasn't like he had the intention of offending her in any way, she was just taking things the wrong way. It was making her feel awkward and distant, a feeling she was now being accustomed to feeling with each passing day at the academy. It wasn't her home, the home she had been so accustomed to, the home she probably wouldn't be able to return to again after all of this mess. This war was driving the family apart and Becca placed all her aggression and pain toward it, using it as her fuel to keep her moving.

All of these thoughts were beginning to cloud Becca's mind and throw her far off balance. She could feel tears welling up in her eyes, probably ones that were long overdue. She took this moment to rise from the bench, set down her coca in the spot she moved from, and to begin playing in the steady snowfall. With this, her pain could be hidden from her company, with this she can forget everything that was tugging at her heart. She constantly twirled around as if she were a child, catching the rather large snowflakes in her hands.

So pretty...”, she mumbled.

She quickly wiped away a tear that had found it's way down her cheek.

Seeing Becca turn away made Aoi lower his head. He didn't know what he did wrong, yet something he said clearly upset her. Staring down at his cup, Aoi thought about what it'd be like to be in Becca's shoes. But no, he couldn't do it. He knew so little of her himself. How could he even try?

Looking back up, Aoi saw that Becca started to wander in the snow. After she stopped for a second she wiped something off her face. A tear no doubt. This made Aoi feel even more wretched than before. Feeling like he was responsible, Aoi stood up and slowly walked towards her thinking of something to say the whole way there.

When he reached her, he gingerly held Becca's hands and said:

"I know there are some things that you've been holding back for some time. And if anything I've said has aggravated it, then I'm sorry. It's just... You're one of the few people still in my life that I care about. Seeing you like this makes me feel... As if it was all my fault."

Tears had begun to stream down her face with more intensity as Becca had begun to fail in intercepting them It seemed that they were ones that were indeed long overdue as they wouldn't cease no matter how hard Becca tried to push back her feelings. Perhaps this was for the best, all of her pent up frustrations was being purged from her with each teardrop. Slipping down her cheeks, they pelted the fresh snow below, melting them with their warmth. A few park goers gave her glances of concern this time as opposed to the usual gazes of disapproval. It seems that even they have a human side.

Becca was even more stunned once Aoi had gently taken hold of her hands, causing her tears to slow down for a moment. However that quickly changed once she heard his words. It wasn't even his fault that she was crying, so Becca didn't want him to gain such an impression. She wanted to tell him just that, to tell him not to sound so sorrowful, not to apologize. Her voice at the moment however was failing her, as any noise she tried to make would shift into a hicuppy sob. Perhaps this meant that she should save her words for later, but would there really be a later after this?

Becca soon found herself drop to her knees in the cold snowfall, sobbing like she had never sobbed before. All that ran through her head were memories of her happy past, ones she could possibly never relive. She detested the fact that everything around her was being steadily molded by this war.

I feel helpless! No matter what I do...why do I feel so helpless?!

The tears were making her face grow cold along with her hands, which she used to wiped said tears away. At this rate she was slowly drawing away from the setting and into her own insecurities.

Aoi stood shocked. He'd never seen someone breakdown in front of him like that. Aoi soon started to shake in fear. Fear? Why? He feared something? What did he fear? He didn't fear beasts attacking him, nor taking on three people in a fight. He feared loss of control in a situation. Becca had lost complete control. There was little that he could do.

Stuttering over something to say, Aoi shifted uneasily. There was almost nothing. Almost. There was one thing that he could possibly say. But... If he did. He would have to abandon the one tenant he had promised his sensei he wouldn't break. But... Should he disregard what had grown in his heart? Should he steel himself from all earthly feelings just to accomplish his goal with no knowledge of afterwards? Following Becca, he sank to his knees in the snow and kept his head down. He knew exactly what she was going through right now, he had done so himself some time ago.

"Becca. I promise it will get better... It's just..."

Aoi trailed off. Staring blankly at the ground, Aoi was lost. He felt as if he was drowning and there was nothing that anyone could do to help. Helplessness, what a horrible feeling. But Aoi knew that he wasn't the only one that was feeling the same dread. Looking up, he gazed directly at Becca's face. Was that it? Was that all the comfort he could offer? Was he not willing to risk his own beliefs for another?

In all of her sobbing, Becca almost hadn't even noticed when Aoi had knelt beside her. It seems he was having some trouble consoling her sudden fit and it was in return causing him some anguish. Becca had a feeling that it was related to what he had said just moments earlier about it feeling as if her pain was his fault. She didn't want him to think that, but she was still having trouble getting any words out thanks to all the crying she was doing. A few park goers glanced over in concern at them, but none actually stopped to figure out what the problem was. It wasn't like Becca wanted them to stop anyway, so this wasn't an issue at the moment.

Becca was still going on that journey through her past, recounting almost every moment that made her feel the happiest. Currently, she was thinking of the time where her family sat around their dinner table and her father swore that he would never join the BRL. At that time, her Mom had asked him about it in concern that Rias' old Britannian way of thinking would guide him down the wrong path. It made Becca feel elated that he denied any possibility of joining up with the enemy, but this memory was from when Becca was age 13 and still living in Britannia. Little had she known that just a few years later he would break his promise and become Becca's enemy. Was establishing the old Britannia far more important than his family now? Just that thought alone had cause Becca's tear to pick up once again, her hidden sorrows finally surfacing for all to see.

Looking up at Aoi once he did the same, Becca's eyes had begun to widen after obtaining realization of something. The memory of when she first met Aoi had soon popped into her mind followed by more recent memories tat brought her happiness. It was like she had woken up from a long, horrid storm and had come to see the rainbow at the other end. She soon realized that there was no need to dwell and be brought down by such things. She should focus instead on the present and the people surrounding her that bring her sheer happiness. Aoi was one of these people, sticking by her when she needed it. Drying her tears, the youth had now gazed at Aoi as clear as day, even with all of the heavy snowfall surrounding them. Though, at this point she also realized that she didn't quite know what to say. Instead, she just wiped the remaining tears from her eyes and showed him a weak smile, proof that she would be fine.

Aoi looked at Becca's face as they both knelt in the snow. She seemed to have finally gotten a hold of herself and was able to crack a smile. Letting out a sigh of relief, Aoi held Becca's hands and helped her up. Looking at her straight in the eyes he said:

"You're one reason why I keep going. Don't despair. Never despair."

Letting go of one of her hands, he led her to the bench that they had left but a few minutes ago. Picking up his hot chocolate he chugged it all down. It wasn't as hot as before, but it's better warm than cold. Picking up his equipment, he turned:

"Well. I've got to get going. It was nice seeing you again, it always is."

As he waited for Becca to reply, Aoi thought about his pledge that he had made to his sensei. To live a life of detachment. But could he keep that pledge? Could he keep on living the way that he had and ignore every emotion that emerged in his heart, whether for good or ill?

Its seems that Aoi had accepted Becca's smile as her way of saying that everything was alright. His words only echoed through her mind as it had finally calmed down. Now she was left with a strange feeling of tranquility that seemed to only increased once Aoi took her hand. She couldn't quite grasp what exactly was going on with her mind at the moment, but she would rather feel this than all the pain she had just moments earlier. She followed silently behind Aoi as he led her back to the bench they were once settled at. Seeing as how he finished his hot chocolate and picked up his equipment, she automatically knew that it was time to part. Just as expected, he announced his departure.

Alright, I suppose I've stalled far enough today...”, she stated in almost a whisper.

It seems her voice was still having some trouble reaching out, not exactly the best considering she had yet to say goodbye like she wanted to. Lowering her head for a moment she stared silently at the ground, trying to recuperate to the cheery girl she was once earlier. After a short moment, she looked back up at her friend with a sheer expression of happiness, almost as if the charade from earlier had never occurred. Becca decided to accept Aoi's words of wisdom and would never live in a shell of pure despair.

Goodbye Aoi, have a safe trip to Japan.”, she finally finished, her smile never wavering.
