Random Suzaku Kururugi Fact of the Month

Suzaku Kururugi was actually the missing link needed to create the Atomic Bomb. Scientists were baffled on how to fabricate the weapon until Suzaku showed them a Spinzaku in real time. Everything soon became clear to them.

Character of the Month
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad was born to parents of particularly low status in the Holy Britannian Empire. Her mother was a simple chambermaid to the Royal Family and her father was a low ranking soldier in the military. Her father was killed early on when the Black Knights first appeared and her mother was killed soon after when during the Battle of Narita. Sent to live with her grandfather, she spent the better part of her years with him, learning how to be a proud soldier of Britannia. When he too was killed in the line of fire and when the Black Knights finally emerged triumphant, she was left with nothing. As such, she didn't hesitate to join the Britannian Restoration League upon hearing of their creation to get a shot at payback. All she could think of was destroying Zero and 'restoring' her homeland. Now a full fledged member of the BRL, Wendy's specialty is infiltration and espionage and she is often assigned to go undercover in Japan for various reasons. Has a long standing rivalry with Reid Legato, Becca Buchanan, and just about anyone else that gets on her nerves. She is probably well known for her white hot temper and 'shoot first, ask later' disposition.

Receiving Becca's approval to sleep over, Aoi tilted his head to get a better look at her face which seemed to be teeming with questions. Aoi had a few questions of his own to ask, but focused his thoughts on the present.

Beckoning to Becca from outside the exit, Aoi went off at a moderate pace. It wasn't that far, but it was late, and in any case, Becca must be getting tired. Deciding that he might as well tell her WHY he was so trusting of her, he let it out:

"If you want to know why I suggested it... It's well... You remind me of my friend with whom I was really close with; she was the sibling that I've always wanted, and she felt the same. We'd always go star-gazing at a park until I had to move back to Japan. The last night that we were together she asked me if she'd ever see me again and if I'd come back to visit her. As the naive child I was, I said 'of course'. That was years ago, I doubt if she even remembers me..."

Ending his explanation, Aoi took a deep breath. That was the past, and nothing could change that. Returning to reality, he continued:

"Well, I guess that's enough about me for now. What about you?"

Becca honestly didn't know what to say exactly after Aoi's story. She had never had any siblings before, so she didn't quite know the feeling Aoi had cherished with this person. If anything, it sounded like he was in love with her romantically, not in a sibling way. She decided to say this, but quickly decided she would hold her tongue on the matter.

No use in getting on anyone's sour side with my assumptions...

Now he wanted to know about Becca's situation. Nothing out of the ordinary had really occurred in her life, so it wasn't like there was some kind of chair clenching tale she could tell to her new friend, but should that really even matter?

"Not much to say really. I was raised in a sheltered manner as a child, kinda oblivious to what was really going on around me. I'm an only child, and was quite spoiled for it. I think it was until recently that I really opened my eyes and took a real good look at my life. So, now I'm on my own here in Britannia, in a way trying to find myself.", she explained.

Of course that wasn't her whole story, but she felt she shouldn't reveal too much about herself so soon, for she still hardly knew anything about Aoi. Especially the fact that her father was an old commander in the Britannian Army. So many families suffered because of his actions, so the Buchanan name wouldn't exactly be something Becca would want to flaunt around, unlike her father.

As they walked further away from the park, the scenery seemed to be hidden due to the darkening sky. That was quickly solved as every street light began to flicker on one by one along the path they were walking. It illuminated so bright that Becca had to shield her eyes for a brief moment as the light next to her shifted on. Were the police here that obsessed with keeping the peace that they would blind the criminals in their tracks with such overpowering street lamps?

"Damn these bright lights", Becca grumbled to herself as she continued to shield her eyes.

"Anyway....I was wondering about that sword you're carrying, tt seems to bear some special meaning to it the way."

After hearing Becca's terse narrative of herself, Aoi couldn't help but wonder if she was leaving something out. He couldn't blame her, they barely knew each other and he was asking her to talk about herself.

For the next few minutes, they walked in complete silence. Aoi looked to his side and made note of their location. They were getting close to the path into the woods. Wanting to inform Becca of their distance he started:

"We shouldn't be too far about a mile or so away."

All the street lights along the path decided to flicker on. But unlike normal street lights, these would temporarily blind anyone nearby. Unluckily, Aoi was facing in the direction of one of the lights, and caught it full blast.

"Ah god! Really? I just... God..."

It was at that moment that his scar decided to act up, but Aoi took no notice of it. He thought it only as a side-effect of the bright lights. Clearing his eyes, he turned to Becca to answer her next inquiry:

"The sword?" He pulled out his sword and swung it around a few times.

"This one is an exact duplicate of the first sword I learned to use. How long ago was it? Ten years ago? It's served me well over the years, I can give you that."

Aoi finished his explanation and sheathed his sword. After a while of walking in silence, he looked around himself again and said:

"We're only a few minutes away, but from here on out, we're going to be in the woods."

With that he jogged towards two trees that bent towards each other, forming a makeshift doorway. He beckoned to Becca and said with a hint of playfulness and seriousness:

"Come on. If you fall behind or get lost, it'll be almost impossible to find you."

The woods up ahead were horrifically dark, making it seem as if it were a portal to some other dimension, one aside from the bright street lamps behind them. How long had those woods even been here? She hadn't noticed them before, or it was probably since she'd never stumbled around here at night time. Looking on ahead with a gulp, Becca slowly trudged on behind Aoi, wondering how he could possibly call such an eerie place his home. She took note of the two trees in front of her, which reminded her of some sort of doorway. She wondered if Aoi had made that himself, or if that was the way the trees naturally had bent toward one another.

"Hey, do you mind if I ask you why you decided to sleep in the woods? I mean...it doesn't seem to friendly here, and what do you do when winter comes?", wondered Becca.

She didn't mean to barrage him with an onslaught of questions, it was just that she had never been in this situation before and was quite curious about these living arrangements. She thought everyone in Modnar was obsessed with their new technology, but apparently not Aoi. He even still wields a sword, which everyone has abandoned to pick up an assault riffle and a Knightmare.

Heading deeper into the forest, visibility diminished to about zero and the only way Becca could keep track of Aoi was by grabbing ahold of his cape. A few twigs could be heard snapping into two as they stepped on them along with quite a few leaves. Clearly they weren't treading on the concrete sidewalk anymore.

"Aoi? How exactly are you able to see through this darkness?"

Just as she asked that, she heard the cry of some sort of animal, causing her to jump violently. It sounded so close that it came from right behind her. Becca walked up so quickly that she bumped right into Aoi's back.

"S-Sorry...."

"My, my, which question to answer first?", played Aoi.

"Well. I only sleep here if I'm either too lazy to get to my apartment or if it's good weather. And I mean, really good weather. Nothing is friendly anywhere, the thing is, we just never look for it. And when winter comes, either I go to where I usually live, or I sleep next to a fire with some blankets and tea
."

Aoi understood Becca's apprehensiveness. He would have acted the same way if he was in a similar situation.

"And if you're wondering, we aren't sleeping on the floor. It's hammocks. I was in the process of getting some beds, but never got around to it. Probably should do so. And on a night like this, who wouldn't want to sleep outside?"

With that they settled back into silence, only hearing the cracking of twigs underfoot. After a few more minutes of wandering, Aoi replied to Becca:

"Your eyes get used to it after a while. I'm quite sure that if we stopped moving and just focused on looking, we'd be able to see quite well. Only problem is, we might fall asleep standing. So come on."

It was long after that an animal cried out, causing Becca to bump into Aoi's back, but Aoi was lost in his thoughts, and didn't take notice of it, but instead said:

"Hmm? Oh yeah! We should be there in a few minutes."

Becca was pleased to hear that Aoi didn't really stay in the forest, but an apartment. She wondered how anyone could stay in this forest, especially after that animal cry she just her. It had sent chills up her spine when it again screeched out from behind her, this time sounding even closer than the last. Surely the beast wasn't following them, but at the moment, Becca thought otherwise. She had once again begun to walk up with more haste, this time so as to not crash into Aoi again. He didn't seem to notice the first time she did though, much to Becca's relief.

The sound of snapping twigs could be heard from behind Becca, clearly indicating that it was neither she nor Aoi making the ruckus. A cold sweat ran down Becca's forehead as she now began to regret her decision to stay in the woods. Right now she'd rather have taken her punishment, cleaning up the giant mess left from the cadets at dinnertime, and that was a really horrible mess.

"A-Aoi.....I think there's something behind me.....", she whimpered.

She wondered if Aoi would even hear her considering she made her last remark in a very low voice. Still, she did hear those snapping sounds behind her. In fact, she continued to hear them even now, crackling closer and closer to her. Not even bothering to assume anything else, she was determined to think that this was some sort of monster out to get her and pick it's teeth with her bones.

D-Doesn't Aoi hear this?! W-Wait...is he used to monsters jumping out at him? I'd think they wouldn't be much of a problem for him considering the fact that he could use that sword. Then maybe I shouldn't be worrying so much then, he wouldn't let some animal maul his new friend right?

Lost in all her thought, Becca hadn't heard that Aoi mentioned that they were almost there. She blinked a second before realizing that he even opened his mouth to begin with.

"Huh?"

Perhaps she was a lost cause already...

It might have been part of Aoi's imagination, but he could swear that he heard another set of cracking branches right behind them. But what could it be? It didn't have a heavy step, so it ruled out things as large as bears. Maybe a racoon? Fox? Definetly not something as small as a squirrel. After hearing Becca's distressed tone Aoi said:

"You know what? Walk in front of me."

He dearly hoped she didn't take it the wrong way, but as soon as Aoi shuffled Becca infront of him, he placed his hands firmly on her shoulders so as to guide her in the right direction. After minutes of trudging along in the blackness of the forest, Aoi announced:

"Stand here. Don't worry, I won't be gone for longer than five minutes."

Aoi handed Becca his pistol, wanting to keep her spirits up he said:

"Here, keep this in case anything happens. And please remember to talk and then shoot."

With that Aoi left Becca's side to find the pile of wood he had left on the ground earlier that day if he was running late. After ramming his foot into the pile of wood, Aoi immediatly got onto his knees and grabbed two pieces of wood and immediately started rubbing them together. After a minute of rubbing sticks, sore arms, and sparks Aoi had a full blaze going.

"Here we go! Hey Becca, come on over. I'm pretty sure you can see where I am right now!"

It was true, the wood that Aoi was using was ridiculously dry. Aoi looked around to make sure that everything was where he had left it: on his right was a hammock and under it a bundle of sheets, on his left was a bag with extra clothes along with some cooking, eating, and grooming utensils. Right next to the bag was a packet of raw meat that was to be his dinner for that day.

"Too late for cooking, might as well get everything set up for tonight", thought Aoi. He asked Becca:

"Well, what do you think?"

Becca didn't want to be left alone for long, so she had hoped that Aoi would keep his word. In her grasp was the pistol she was just handed prior to Aoi's take off.She had become quite accustomed to not only holding one, but firing one as well. So, if a beast were to come along and ambush her while she was alone, she'd most likely be fine as long as she had Aoi's weapon. She guessed that there really was a benefit after all from all her hard studying. Becca now held the gun properly and assumed a defensive position.

Silence. There was nothing but silence after Aoi had left, not even the snapping twig noises from behind her had ceased. Was this a good thing or a bad thing? Deciding to stay on the defensive, she slowly treaded over to some nearby brush and begun to search for whatever it was that had been bothering them. Again, she found nothing but darkness, feeling somewhat disappointed that she couldn't rid of the problem then and there. More rustling had started up again, with Becca sprinting over to the source. Her fear seemed to disappear and was now replaced with pure adrenaline.

"Who's there?", she called out into the darkness.

Whatever it was, her voice had seemed to scare it off, causing the area to once again grow silent. A short distance away, a light suddenly flickered on, illuminating just about the surrounding area. Becca sighed in relief now that she could actually view her surroundings. Her name was called not a moment later by Aoi and she rushed over toward the light.

Awaiting her at Aoi's campsite was his hammock and a couple other essentials. He sure did sleep here just like he mentioned, obviously not minding the stalker forest creatures surrounding them. A plus though was the night sky, which was just filled with stars. The light pollution from the city couldn't break through the thick trees of the woods, so that would explain their beautiful view above.

Looking at her watch, Becca noted that it was indeed late, much later than she had thought it was. Seems the walk through the woods had ate up quite an amount of time. It was okay if they didn't eat though, she wasn't much hungry at the moment, even though she missed dinner at the Academy's cafeteria, and they actually served quite nice meals there.

"Pretty nice for a campsite in the woods. Can't complain about those stars either.", Becca replied to Aoi's inquisition.

Plopping down next to the blazing campfire, Becca then took the time to gaze up at the sky.

"You don't see anything like this back at the USJ. I lived here in Britannia for a while, but now I stay there. I kinda miss it there, along with Ashford Academy, my school. I bet all the students are going nuts now that their Student Council President is on temporary leave.", she stated with a giggle.

Seeing Becca, Aoi took back his pistol,

"Looks like you're in one piece. That's good."

Listening to Becca, Aoi's mind began to wander into his memories of Japan. His most vivid being his most recent trip there, to his parents' grave. Who had he met there? Ritsu was one for sure... And who was the other? Reid? They weren't a bad lot, definitely got a better reception from them than from the other locals. Lying on his back, Aoi said:

"I dunno. Both here and Japan have their upsides. But I prefer Japan, nothing beats home. Only problem there is, I never really talk to anyone. Except these two guys that I met: Ritsu and Reid. Weren't that bad after I told them I didn't wanna hurt them."

Realizing that Becca was sitting on the ground with him, Aoi rubbed his eyes and yawned:

"You can sleep on the hammock, I'll sleep on the ground. I end up sleeping better, for some odd reason."

She was a tad bit surprised that Aoi had also been acquainted with Reid Legato, although she wasn't much familiar with this Ritsu person. Seems like Reid often meets lots of people in his travels, as does Aoi. She wondered if she too would come across many colorful personalities once she steps out on the battlefield. Most likely they would turn out to be enemies rather than allies. Hopefully Aoi wouldn't turn into one of her enemies, but that seemed highly unlikely considering that he says he comes from the USJ. To her, he looked to be Britannian, but she could see some features in his face that somewhat resembled that of a Japanese person.

Perhaps it wouldn't be best to ask his nationality....I don't wanna possibly offend the guy. That question offends fifty percent of today's population anyway....But....

Regardless, she was still oh-so interested in hearing Aoi's full story. She wondered if he would tell her more about himself, especially since she considered him to be such a mystery. But because he was such a mystery, would he even be up to revealing his past like she did? But Becca didn't exactly have a terrifying past, so of course it was quite easy for her to speak.

Once again putting her thoughts behind her, she shook her head no at Aoi's suggestion of sleeping in the hammock. To her it already felt like she was imposing, and she didn't to kick him out of his own hammock, even if he slept better on the ground. When she was about to reply, she heard that same sharp cry from earlier. Now hearing it again, it didn't quite resemble any forest animal she knew, and it was a tad bit earsplitting.

"It seems our visitor is back again...", she stated after it grew silent again.

There was no way in hell she was going to sleep with whatever that was in such close perimeter around them. So, perhaps it was time to set out again and investigate. Grabbing Aoi's pistol, which she had carefully sat down with Aoi's other belongings, she then switched her gaze back towards the brush.

"I'm gonna check things out...you coming along?"

Somehow, she doubted that he's even let her go alone into the forest, so she had a feeling he would most likely end up joining her in her 'monster hunt'.
