Random Suzaku Kururugi Fact of the Month

Suzaku Kururugi was actually the missing link needed to create the Atomic Bomb. Scientists were baffled on how to fabricate the weapon until Suzaku showed them a Spinzaku in real time. Everything soon became clear to them.

Character of the Month
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad was born to parents of particularly low status in the Holy Britannian Empire. Her mother was a simple chambermaid to the Royal Family and her father was a low ranking soldier in the military. Her father was killed early on when the Black Knights first appeared and her mother was killed soon after when during the Battle of Narita. Sent to live with her grandfather, she spent the better part of her years with him, learning how to be a proud soldier of Britannia. When he too was killed in the line of fire and when the Black Knights finally emerged triumphant, she was left with nothing. As such, she didn't hesitate to join the Britannian Restoration League upon hearing of their creation to get a shot at payback. All she could think of was destroying Zero and 'restoring' her homeland. Now a full fledged member of the BRL, Wendy's specialty is infiltration and espionage and she is often assigned to go undercover in Japan for various reasons. Has a long standing rivalry with Reid Legato, Becca Buchanan, and just about anyone else that gets on her nerves. She is probably well known for her white hot temper and 'shoot first, ask later' disposition.

Deciding to take a break from his rigorous training at the academy, Reid strolled through the familiar Britannian streets that he had once called home. Noting the hustle and bustle of Britannians Reid lamented that he would not be able to obtain the Japanese food that he so desired in this country, causing him to sigh. Missing the exquisite food but realizing that he still needed nourishment Reid instead trotted into a nearby cafe and surveyed the scene. Noting the trendy cafe full of young couples Reid released a heavy sigh and decided to take a seat nearest the window. Shortly later, a waitress appeared and inquired "Are you waiting on a guest or will you be dining alone this afternoon." Upon relating the nature of his visit the waitress offered Reid coffee or tea to start with Reid selecting the tea. After the departure of the waitress Reid looked around again and thought What, did everyone decide to pair up in the past week or something? It was true, all of the people within Reid's age group seemed to be dating, although the Military left Reid with no time to occupy himself with a relationship. He had always assumed that he would settle down with another former solider after they had both been decommissioned, there were quite a few female soldiers in the Britannian Military after all. Perhaps he would find love on the battlefield, from a Black Knight or a member of the BRL? This last thought caused quite a chuckle from Reid and he began to sip his newly delivered Tea while observing the occurrences outside the cafe.

So amused was Reid that he had apparently not realised who it was that had delivered his tea, having intercepted the returning waitress Gino had deposited the cup and saucer on the table without a word before sweeping himself into the chair opposite his new subordinate. 'You know you're really hard to find,' he said, leaning an elbow on the table as he did. After spending about two hours of the day prior wandering around the Kururugi Military Academy with a snow cone in each hand (an inaugural toast of sorts, one for him and one for Reid) he had finally decided he deserved both for all the walking he'd done. That and if he'd waited any longer they would've melted completely. The subsequent video conference with the Britannian Cabinet all of which he'd sat through with an ice cream moustache was not what he would call a career highlight. Still, he couldn't blame Reid, after all he'd only just got back to the Academy and he'd probably been roving about for tricks and japes and all manner of rosy-cheeked capering. Ah, the young today and their ways...

'Glad I finally caught you, I wanted to talk to you abou-- oh, hang on.' Gino paused as he saw the waitress making another pass, he beckoned her over to order himself a coffee. 'Now, what was I saying?' He let the question hang, staring at Reid as though he genuinely didn't know before snapping his fingers in realisation. He leaned back, crossing one leg over the other and folded his hands in his lap. 'Oh yeah, I wanted to talk to you about a Knighthood. You still want to be Knighted don't you? Well either way, you're going to have to be pretty good to survive.'

He broke off to stir his coffee and take a sip. 'Mm, good coffee. Can't believe I've not been in here before.' Gino didn't want to leave him with any illusions, about their unit or about being a Knight. They were set to be the spearhead in the war with the BRL and even if he survived and succeeded being a Knight (for all its privilages) was about serving someone else. As a soldier it ought to be something Reid knew already, but he had to be sure.

Reid was taken aback by how quickly Gino had appeared but decided to chalk it up to the nature of the man. He had been know to appear and disappear before, right? Reid replied to the knight's first statement, saying: "I apologize sir. I was showing a new cadet around to her classes. It appears someone followed me back from Japan." He then laughed at this statement, knowing Becca had come of her own will with no knowledge that Reid would be their as well. The cafe moved about around the two although neither seemed to be connected to the outside world while enjoying their drink and talking. Upon the mentioning of knighthood Reid looked at Gino with the strongest look of conviction he could muster and replied resolutely "My goal is still the same as the day we met. I will do anything necessary in order to become a knight and keep the land of Japan free. No matter what it takes I will become a knight." He then sipped his tea again, smiling contently as its smooth taste hit his pallet. After a moment passed Reid looked at Gino and inquired "About our unit sir? How many people are there in it? And is there anyway for other soldiers to be added?" Deep in his heart Reid hoped that Becca could be added to the unit, knowing that would be the best way to keep her safe.

I knew it! Gino smiled as Reid explained where he had been, it was a knowing sort of 'nudge-nudge, wink-wink' smile, complete with raised eyebrow. His smile changed to one of almost pride at Reid's stated conviction. He couldn't help but quirk a brow at Reid's request which followed. The young soldier was not to know that this was the entire reason Gino had the squad (such as it was) posted to the Kururugi Academy, because he wanted to search the nooks and crannies of the illustrious institute for some talent. It had been his intention to tell Reid this, hence his surprise. He had always thought it proper military etiquette to wait for ones orders before carrying them out.

It was then that the pieces snapped together and Gino realised that it was this squeeze of his that Reid wanted to have put on the squad. Gino figured that there was nothing inherently wrong with the idea, though he'd have to meet her first and determine to his satisfaction that she was not just a pretty face.

'Well, that's the thing. We're the unit,' he said bluntly before taking another slug of coffee and leaning back with a sigh. ' The cabinet's orders were just to go do... something, it wasn't until I spoke with the Empress that this idea even came about. You were the first person I collected. So by all means, if you have any suggestions, go right ahead and I'll consider them. That's why we came back to the Academy in the first place.'

Reid nodded at the request of his superior and said "Sir, If I may make a suggestion, could you look into the file of Becca Buchanan? She's still a raw cadet but she has the pedigree and skill to become one of the best soldiers we have. I'm sure you'll recognize her surname as having history in Britannian Military." After this glowing review Reid was sure there was absolutely now way that Gino could refuse at least reviewing Becca's file. She may even get put on the fast track to becoming a soldier. Still, it troubled Reid that the cabinet was so keen on throwing he and Gino into the fray so quickly, even going so far as to task them with finding additional soldiers.Upon seeing the look on his commander's face Reid quickly informed him "With all do respect, don't get an ideas sir! This is purely a professional contact I was talking about. My only goal is to equip our unit with the optimal talent." He then looked out the window and thought to himself And to keep more innocent people safe. I have to get Becca back to her parent's in one piece. Nobody deserves to lose their daughter. Not while I'm still breathing at least!

"Oh my, but what good will such potential do when your cadet friend is killed in the thick of war due to her own inexperience right before your very eyes? A name passes many things down the generations, Mr. Reid, but combat experience is not one of them."

A cool and calm voice emanated from behind the young soldier and his Knightly friend, washing over the casual atmosphere like a tidal wave. A chill fell over the table as it's owner slowly strode over to the table, turning the warm friendliness into icy professionalism. The man descended from a stool near the corner of the cafe, hidden by the shadows of the establishment until just now, where he could be seen in full. He carried with him and air of sophistication and intelligence, but also one of ambiguity and mystery. His face, somewhat obscured by a black fedora, had snake-like features upon it, at this time contorted to a representation of neutrality-- blankness. Towering over the table, a stewardess was carefully to tread out of his path, as he arrived at the table, his slim golden eyes making brief yet direct eye contact with the young Reid before seeming to be closed as he addressed both members of the table. His expression of neutrality changed, a smirk forming onto his face, as he gave a slight chuckle, melting away some of the cold his appearance had created as his voice, just as smooth and calm as before but far more plain and casual, echoed out to the two.

"Gosh. How rude of me. I probably should have started with a simple 'hello' or 'good day', don't you think? That might of made a better first impression. Still, I think I've made my point, no? A good morning to you both, Mr. Reid and...our dearest Sir Knight Weinberg."

Reid looked up at the man as soon as his statement was finished and immediately felt a chill sweep through his body. The shadowy man showed no ill will towards he and Gino and yet there was a certain cold hostility that emanated from the very core of this man. Not deciding to take his words lightly Reid replied "I very well know that but she has shown exceptional talent for one who is not as well versed in combat yet. Believe me, I would not put her name out if I didn't believe she could survive and thrive. For that very reason I'm not asking for her to be added on my word alone but for Sir Weinberg to investigate and interview Ms. Buchanan." Reid wasn't sure who this man was but he seemed to be on good enough terms with the knight in his company that Reid did not see any need to turn hostile. In fact, the man had brought up a very good point. Sure, Becca was one of the most talented cadets the academy had seen in awhile but all that training and upbringing would mean nothing if she couldn't pull the trigger on an enemy at the most crucial moment. This had given Reid a lot to think about, causing him to sit in contemplative silence for a period of time.

Aoi looked around at the café. It seemed strange to him that almost everyone there had decided to double up. But shrugged it off. Why should he care? It's not like it mattered or anything. When he heard:

"Oh my, but what good will such potential do when your cadet friend is killed in the thick of war due to her own inexperience right before your very eyes? A name passes many things down the generations, Mr. Reid, but combat experience is not one of them."

The voice made Aoi stop in the middle of a sip. Putting his cup down the voice continued.

"Gosh. How rude of me. I probably should have started with a simple 'hello' or 'good day', don't you think? That might of made a better first impression. Still, I think I've made my point, no? A good morning to you both, Mr. Reid and...our dearest Sir Knight Weinberg."

He was about to stand up and reprimand the speaker when a familiar voice spoke:

"I very well know that but she has shown exceptional talent for one who is not as well versed in combat yet. Believe me, I would not put her name out if I didn't believe she could survive and thrive. For that very reason I'm not asking for her to be added on my word alone but for Sir Weinberg to investigate and interview Ms. Buchanan."

Deciding to enter the conversation, Aoi walked towards the trio and said:

"Well said. And what right does anyone have to decide if one has the talent to fight or not? The sacrifice of life we make voluntarily. If this "Ms. Buchanan" that my friend speaks of, agrees to join, then the more power to her."

Aoi had made sure to have his cape conceal a knife and firearm that he carried just in case someone decided to cause trouble.

A half-crazed, half-delighted smile crept on his face as Aoi thought to himself:

"This person... I don't know what, but.... He seems like one that I would love to compete with"

Gino didn't stop smiling even as Reid denounced his suspicions. Struck a nerve? Oh, totally! It's actually kinda cute. Gino was about to reassure him that he would look over his “professional contact” as soon as possible when someone else joined them. It just so happened to be someone Gino knew, someone he had been looking for and someone who he'd expected to have to turn over every scum infested stone in all of Britannia to find. Earl Virgil--

'Church!' Gino was up pretty much after his old acquaintance had finished speaking, locking an arm around his neck and pulling him right in til they were almost cheek to cheek. He had grown, developed and matured over the decade since they'd last seen one another, but all the time in the world would not teach Gino Weinberg the value of personal space. 'Where you been buuuuuuudy? You knew I was looking for you right? Oh, I bet you did! Know how much I missed you? Is this a new hat... ooh, I like it. All debonair and mysterious and whatnot, right up your street eh?' Reid of course had seen this before when they had met up with Kallen at Ashford and so it took Gino a significantly longer time to get self-aware and even think about introductions.

Before he could get on with that though, they were joined by another man who had decided to throw in his ethical two cents. Any other man this might have annoyed, but Gino loved to meet new people... then again he loved most anybody. Still beaming a smile and basically hanging off of Churchill he responded. 'S'how I've always felt. 'Course I would much rather choose life over death, eheheh. Take a seat pal, any friend of Reid's is a friend of mine.'

Virgil planned on speaking to the young soldier on the true nature of the battlefield. He planned on telling him that even his experience, whilst qualifying on his own skills, was not enough to bring leverage onto his recommendation. Also planned on asking the new stranger to leave, that he was interrupting urgent and secret government business. He planned to do all of these things. These plans were all dashed and shattered by the actions of one man: Gino Weinberg.

The weight of the young knight's body flew upon Virgil, like a lion pouncing in for the kill. The young man drew his face in close to the Earl's, reminiscent of a gaping mouth tearing flesh from it's meal, ripping and devouring anything close to 'comfort' or 'space'. Virgil's face changed now, his calmness dissipating somewhat. On his features was a face of gravity, dread, misery and misfortune. It screaming of disgust, called and begged for the sweet mercy of death.

It was the unmistakable face of a man who has meet Gino Weinberg.

Quickly recovering, he swiftly moved underneath his squeezing grasp, causing the Knight to loose his grip and hopefully fall over. Adjusting his now disheveled tie and his hastely repositioned hat, his face conformed to a much more 'normal' expression, and by that, this writer means one of mere mild discomfort. Trying very, very hard to sound pleased to see his Knightly 'friend', he spoke to the noble as one would speak to a child that just won't. leave. you. alone.

"Ah. Ha. Ha ha. Yes. Gino. A pleasure. As always. I...heard you were looking for me, it's why I came. I've been tailing you and your new young friend on and off for the past three days, and I must admit, I'm still at a bit of a loss as to...why."
