Random Suzaku Kururugi Fact of the Month

Suzaku Kururugi was actually the missing link needed to create the Atomic Bomb. Scientists were baffled on how to fabricate the weapon until Suzaku showed them a Spinzaku in real time. Everything soon became clear to them.

Character of the Month
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad
Wendy Alexis Stalingrad was born to parents of particularly low status in the Holy Britannian Empire. Her mother was a simple chambermaid to the Royal Family and her father was a low ranking soldier in the military. Her father was killed early on when the Black Knights first appeared and her mother was killed soon after when during the Battle of Narita. Sent to live with her grandfather, she spent the better part of her years with him, learning how to be a proud soldier of Britannia. When he too was killed in the line of fire and when the Black Knights finally emerged triumphant, she was left with nothing. As such, she didn't hesitate to join the Britannian Restoration League upon hearing of their creation to get a shot at payback. All she could think of was destroying Zero and 'restoring' her homeland. Now a full fledged member of the BRL, Wendy's specialty is infiltration and espionage and she is often assigned to go undercover in Japan for various reasons. Has a long standing rivalry with Reid Legato, Becca Buchanan, and just about anyone else that gets on her nerves. She is probably well known for her white hot temper and 'shoot first, ask later' disposition.

Kallen waved her hand through her red hair and smiled warmly at Reid response. Britannia sure seemed to be in good hands with people like him around. He looked to be around the same age that she had gotten herself involved with the Black Knights and this in turn brought back a few memories of her own past. It was weird for her to be talking with Britannian soldiers like this, as years ago the Black Knights and the Holy Britannian Empire were once enemies. Nowadays, Japanese and Britannians lived amongst one another as if the two races had been doing it for centuries. It really made Kallen's day to see that everything she had fought for wasn't for nothing. She looked back at Reid, noting the confident look to his eyes. It was a look she had seen before in countless men, but one in particular stood out in her memory.

Snapping her fingers, now she knew who he reminded her of. It was a name that she hadn't muttered in ages, a name that was supposedly dead to the world. It also so happened to be the name of the 'new' Zero, the public assuming that Zero had been the same entity for years now. Oh, but Kallen knew the truth. She knew he was under the mask now. Why Reid had reminded her of this individual she didn't know. She had only just met him and here she was jumping to conclusions. Was it his sense of duty? His charisma? Whatever the case, she decided to keep her thoughts to herself, not wanting to start up any trouble.

"Uh...so! You attend classes here at Ashford Academy?"

Kallen wanted to slap herself, as Reid's uniform clearly showed that he was a member of the student body. She simply couldn't think of anything else to say. Way to go, Kallen! Aren't you a little too old for this?

Not letting Reid answer, she next said, "So, what do you plan to do with yourself? You said you're going to protect Japan, right? Well, good luck to you then!"

Reid smiled at her first question, dismissing it as fast as she had. In regard's to her second question Reid looked around to make sure nobody was spying before replying "Since you're so close to Knight Weinberg I guess its safe to tell you. While most of the kids around here are going for their education I was just sent here. I'm really a Britannian soldier as I'm sure you've already guessed. Nobody else here actually knows I'm a soldier though, its better that way. My goal is to ultimately become a Knight of the Round and be as great as Commander Kururugi on day, although I'm still far off from both goals." Reid's beamed with pride as he talked of the famous Suzaku Kururugi. Although he adored the Knights of the Round the top of Reid's idol list was reserved for that man alone. Reid felt as though his entire life had been shaped at one moment in time. Shortly after the death of his parents Reid felt as though he had no purpose in life. While watching a brodcast on tv Reid had heard the words of Suzaku and the very next day he knew he wanted to enlist in the army, although that didn't happen until years later. Sighing Reid stated "Its a shame he died. I wish I could have saw in now so I could tell him how much he influenced my life." He then waited for Kallen to speak.

"Y-Yes. It is a shame he died. You know, I once knew him. He used to attend Ashford Academy here. We used to be in the Student Council together. He was a...great man. I guess you could say that he and I used to be rivals."

But Kallen knew the truth. Suzaku Kururugi was alive and well, the current Zero that Japanese and Britannians alike flocked around while the threat of the ever looming BRL continued to grow. He was their hope, their light, like he had always been. He had become more than a mere individual: he was an immortal icon of the people. Even in the darkest light, the hope he promised to bring penetrated without fail. It was for that reason that Kallen had followed Zero around in the first place and stuck with him even when things looked bleak. A different sort of man had held the position before, but upon his death, Suzaku had taken on that mantle, shedding the life he lived before in exchange for another. To the public, Suzaku Kururugi had perished long ago, a fallen hero for Britannians and Japanese. He had sacrificed everything for peace. Kallen wasn't sure she would have been able to do the same.

"I'm sure he would have been happy to see you say that, Reid. He was the kind of man who always thought of others before himself. If he were...alive, I'm sure he would be happy to see the world as it is today."

Reid nodded and replied "Agreed." Reid could tell this was a touchy subject with Ms. Kozuki so he decided to leave it alone. Still, to know that Suzaku walked these very halls that Reid did made him all the more sure that he had made the right decision in coming here. Suddenly, Reid was at a loss for words. He truly had nothing else to really say, everything seemed like it had be said already. Instead of forcing small talk he looked from Gino to Kallen and thought about what she had said. Maybe he wasn't as far away from his goals as he thought he was?

Gino would have interjected on Kallen's line about him being 'trouble,' most likely by highlighting that he was amongst the two people in the conversation who'd never been a notorious rebel commander, it was not to be though. He was glad that Kallen and Reid could hit it off, he liked to think that he would be seeing more of her in the near future, when she came to senses and realised the BRL needed fighting. Building a new life was all well and good (though admittedly it hadn't quite panned out for Gino) but if one wanted to keep the right to determine their path they needed to stand up for it. Time and the 'real' world, it seemed to Gino, had somewhat tamed the fiery battle-maiden of his memories. He was quite disappointed, though he did not let it show. He'd have thought that she would have jumped straight back on the war wagon with him, Gino had always thought they were not like other people, even if sometimes they wanted to be. He'd thought that they were both pilots through and through.

Somewhat out of the blue the subject had turned to Suzaku, Gino's eyebrow raised at Reid's proclamation of intent. And what am I? Deifying Suzaku was all well and good, he was a great guy, but Reid could at least have been a little more sensitive seeing as how there was a member of The Rounds in the room. Gino was, all of a sudden, struck with a great sense of loss and yearning, the like of which he'd not felt in almost the entire decade since Suzaku's death. He could understand where Reid was coming from and more. There were things he had wanted to say to Suzaku as well, to the man who'd made him think about and know himself so much better than he had done. Fair enough, he'd done much of that by beating Gino into the ground with the Albion, but the sentiment was still a nice one. He stood there between them, his arms crossed behind his cloak, the smirk having faded from his face and being replaced with a softened frown.

'I dunno about that,' he finally spoke up, his frown being replaced by a melancholic smile as he raised his eyes. 'I knew Suzaku as the Knight of Seven and he was always moralising about how things ought to be, he wasn't once happy with how they were. I don't think he'd be at all happy with the way things panned out.' He whistled sharply, re-establishing his carefree grin. 'But listen to us going on like tired old war horses when there's things that need to be done. For starters we've gotta get you a Knighthood.' He again removed the stuffed envelope from his cloak, breaking the seal and removing one of the smaller brown paper envelopes within, stamped on the front with an ink version of the same seal. He offered it to Reid.

'My signature's on there already, just add yours and meet me at the front gate in an hour. In the meantime go deal with your goodbyes, there's things I want to catch up on with Kallen while we're both here.'

Reid quickly read and signed the paper, handing it back to Gino. There was a flutter in his heart, the likes of which he hadn't felt since his early youth. He had just taken a major step toward completing his goals, something that called for a celebration; at least a private one by himself. Reid then looked and Gino and spouted "Thank you sir! You won't regret your decision!" He then turned to Kallen and said "It was nice meeting you Ms. Kozuki. I hope to see you again in the future." He then turned and ran off to pack his belongings and say his goodbyes, much in the manner of an excited child about to embark on a whimsical vacation. His absence left Gino and Kallen abruptly alone.

OoC: Ugh, can't think of anything right now. Take this short post...

And against Kallen's better judgment, she remained alone with Gino Weinberg, the Knight of Three in a hallway of Ashford Academy. She waved toward Reid, as he raced down the hallway in an excited matter. She wasn't sure what the case of his elation was exactly, though she had overheard something about him become a Knight under Gino, a fate that she couldn't help but laugh at considering the face she couldn't tell if it was a promotion or some sort of punishment. Facing Gino again, she wondered what it was he wanted to catch up with her on.

"So, Mister Knight of Three. How have you been?"

Knight of Three. She repeated the ranking a few times over to herself and came to the sudden realization that Gino had never stopped being a Britannian soldier since their last meeting, she leaving the Black Knights on the other hand some time ago. What were his reason for staying on board? She had left solely to try a different lifestyle, one afforded to her with the Black Knights victory ten years ago. However, Gino had remained steadfast in his career. She had heard his many accolades in battle and knew he was a strong dissenter of the BRL. There was no doubt in her mind that he was going to try and get her to join the cause and stop the BRL from conquering the world. While she had no problem with that, she felt a little hesitant to do anything at the moment.

That was all she could say after a decade? How have you been? As if they'd just been apart for a week. 'Please, call me Gino,' he said, slipping the envelopes back in his pocket. 'Titles make my skin crawl if I'm honest.' He inhaled as if he were about to launch into some extensive diatribe about all of his many, many exploits over the last ten years. The reality was he was just glad to be someplace that didn't smell of sweat and/or grease. Sure if you joined the military you got to see the world (and blow quite weighty chunks of it up, which was almost always fun) but the nasal playlist wasn't a particularly great one. He exhaled. 'Well, y'know, I'm still alive somehow so that's a bonus. Same old gig really, I'm starting to wonder if I'm gonna spend my whole life trying to put down rebels.'

He hoped she'd take that as a joke, that was how it was meant at least. Gino had never harboured much in the way of ill feeling towards the Black Knights, as an organization they were very difficult to take issue with, it just so happened that they'd ended up on opposite sides. The BRL were a very different kettle of fish, young and bright eyed true believers commanded by mad bad old bastards who'd perpetrated some of the worst human travesties in history back when the Holy Empire was riding high and mighty. Even a card like Gino could see they were dangerous in the utmost degree.

'I'm doing pretty good. Though I'm more concerned over you.' To illustrate his point he leaned his face a little closer, poking her stiffly in the forehead and holding his finger there. 'What's got you in such a funk not to have joined back up? I thought you idolised Zero. Now someone comes around trying to tear down everything he's done and you want nothing to do with it?' For all that he was being playful, maybe goading her a little to get back into the pilot's seat, Gino did sound altogether quite concerned... in a Gino kind of way.

OoC: Finally posting. Had to register for college and all, but I'm here now.

It appeared that Gino was on to her. Kallen grinned some while letting out a solemn sigh that meant the jig was up. Her head shot back a little once she noticed Gino move his close to hers, she assuming he was looking for the answer to his question from her expression. He was searching the wrong place though. Kallen placed her hand beside her heart and let Gino's words sink in some. It was true, she should have been with the Black Knights right now fighting the BRL. Many of her old comrades had asked the same thing of her and like now she could find no answer to give them. Every fiber in her being told her to join Zero, the Black Knights and take up arms to defend Japan once more, yet there was another side of her telling her something else. It reminded her that she had fought hard in the past for her current lifestyle and that she deserved to have a break from battle. In other words, this whole matter was someone else's problem, not hers.

That wasn't the right answer either though. She knew she would only be selfish by thinking like that and not making a difference when she could. Shaking her head, she realized her thoughts had been centered around this for quite awhile now. She couldn't focus on her cases properly and she had been unable to sleep in the recent nights. As more stories of the BRL's attacks on Japan seemed to grow each day, she found herself growing more irate. This wasn't what was supposed to happen after the Black Knights finally won. Too many people had died fighting Britannian for another organization to merely rise up and take on their goals. In her mind, the next thing for her to do was obvious: suit up and take the fight to the BRL. If that was the right thing to do, however, why was she having such a hard time figuring all this out? It didn't make sense; nothing about this did.

She didn't want to alert Gino about her confused state of mind, so she tried her best to maintain her normal air by frowning at his actions and his words. He really was a tad bit too close, so she pushed him back some with her index finger.

"Hmph. No need to worry about me, Mister Knight of...Gino. And for your question, let's just say I'm weighing my options here! And don't think you can just get me back into a Knightmare just because we had this little talk!"

Gino had spoke to her in his usually, carefree tone and she did the same, shooting him a glance that suggested that her mind could be swayed after all. She recalled the time she had dueled his Tristian with her Guren, knowing he was a skilled Knightmare Pilot in his own right. He surely didn't need her help, not when she could even make a simple decision such a defending her homeland. The Guren would be useless in her hands, nothing more than a lifeless husk. She grabbed the Knightmare's key tied around her neck and stared at it quietly for a few seconds.

Gino wasn't about to let the matter slide, so he took hold of Kallen's hand as it held the Guren's key, gently but firmly and proceeded to get right back up in her face so he could look her dead centre in the eye.'Hey, hey. I know some people need to move on from fighting sooner or later. Always seemed to me though that you weren't one of those people.' Whereas she had raised her voice, his lowered, became more delicate and devoid of its more usual brash overtone. He laid his free hand on her shoulder in a reassuring (and hopefully a decidedly un-creepy) fashion. 'Ever since that first time I saw you I thought. “This girl knows what she's about.” Can't say I wasn't a little jealous.' That was what had most drawn Gino to Kallen, to Suzaku as well. He had never had a reason to fight, or if he did he had no conception of what it was, but those two... they had goals that they would follow through with no matter what. An enviable state of being to be sure. He remembered thing that “perhaps heroes cannot second guess their actions.” Perhaps they simply knew what to do, that was how he felt these days with the BRL looming, he knew there was call for someone like him. Someone who just knew how to fight.

'If you're done because you want to be done, then more power to you, but...' he shifted his hand, pressing the Guren's key over Kallen's heart. 'If it's over on account of you being afraid, then you can't be nearly the woman that I thought you were when even a bum like me knows there's things that are more important to protect than ourselves.' Life, status, career, even family. None of them would be worth dirt if the BRL were to have their way, Kallen had to have known that. If the Black Knights could alter the world, then who was to say the BRL could not effect change on that sort of scale in just a few years?

'It's not just me that wants you back in a Knightmare anyhow, I'm willing to bet it's more you.' His cocky smile returned, his voice picking up its normal pitch and tone. 'Besides, s'gonna be really boring squashing all those rebels alone.'
