I think I will mount the SR bottom plate and have the DF top plate cut in half so I can slip the battery underneath!! How is that for an idea!

Remember if your doing that you have to cut the bottom plate for the differential, and I'm not sure but I think the SR stock battery holder goes forward to far and will be under the spur gear. What you would need to do is use one of the cross braces just behind the spur gear so that the battery doesn't slid forward into the spur and cut the tabs at the rear of the blizzard sr bottom plate that holds the battery in place. |

The plate chassis on the SR ( bl54 ) are 1.5mm thick. And those used on the DF ( bl2 ) are 2.0mm thick. So those on the DF are less flexible. I receive the bl2 chassis plate and i will replace the bl54 on my 2 SR. Only need to drill 2 or 3 holes on the DF plates. The parts for the DF (bl2) 5$ each (10$ for a kit) versus parts (bl54) for the SR are 34$....What a joke???? |

Yeah Mazdaxxx I hear ya on the SR pricing!! Total joke!! Reaper I never thought about the battery holder until you mentioned it!! You are correct so maybe that plan will change. DOH!! I have a DF bottom plate too. I have to study the DF more....I was just saying my plans without even looking...hehehe. I am learning lots anyway. I am glad most DF parts are still available and cheap....shipping is the killer up North!! Booooooo!! It costs almost the same in shipping as the parts!! |

I just took a look at the DF/SR and am thinking a battery down below probably won't work. I forgot about the slope of the rear plate! It pushes the battery too far forward....I am sure there isn't enough room for a 3S. A person almost has to make a custom drop bed in the back half of the DF for a fatter 3S. Well I have spare parts coming even though I might not cut anything. I am becoming a parts hoarder..lol. Any other ideas out there? I really don't want the battery up front across the chassis...no matter which battery I end up going with. I will for sure be doing the front mounted servo for the steering. That is 100% guaranteed! Only thing so far....hehehe. Over and out!! |

What about trying to find a 3s saddle pack I know there are lots of 2s saddle packs... can't see why there wouldn't be a 3s and even at that you could take 2 smaller 3s packs and wire them in parallel maybe? |

My 3S packs would need to drop down about 3/8-1/2 inch to clear the SR body. The drop bed idea would work if I move the steering servo upfront. Or I could just duct tape them to the rear bed

The drop bed probably wouldn't be too hard. Just need another cross brace, cut the top plate where you think it needs cutting then mark some holes and drill the side plates. I know it sounds easy....but!! There usually is a but....hahaha |

Hey that is cool to see.....how long of run time do you get? I am thinking of 3S for more than the Blizzard....I want to try a 3S in my Wraith too. So I am not sure which battery to even buy. |

What size do you have? 5000mah or 4000? I am thinking 4000mah might be good enough. Hmmmmm I guess price isn't much different. You are right about price...nice. I want the hard case ones. http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-sl5000-3s1p-20c-3333-hardcase.html Actually I think 4000mah at 40C would be better than the 5000mah at 20C. http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-sl4000-3s1p-40c-3333-hardcase.html Edited by ZippoMan, Feb 12 2013, 04:54 PM.

I have the 5000 20C 3S soft packs for my trail rigs running 35 turn motors, higher C's are always better.

I just wish hobbypartz shipped USPS not UPS....I guess it has to do with lipo batteries. That sucks. I can't buy from them. |
