I followed the link someone posted here to Team Bluegroove to check out the Blizzard body they have for sale on eBay. Is anyone using this body? It looks to be similar in size to the stock DF-300, plus it comes with an interior piece (no decals or trim pieces though). Would this body allow me to run a full-size lipo upfront? I'm not sure if Hobbies4Life will come through with my order so I'm looking for alternatives. Might make a good "basher" body. Thoughts or experiences anyone?

I posted over on RCC I have one and I think it's fine especially with the interior piece. It's the exact same size of the DF-300 so a full size lipo will work. I've converted my DF-300 to one piece body's with double back tape and shoo-goo. Just had to trim the bottom tray to slide over the battery. You'll most likely have to do your own take on sealing the snow out like I did on mine, but all in all not a bad deal with the others not available. |

Well if you can mount your battery in the back...like I plan on doing you can use the SR body and have the DF sealed up better. I am just waiting for parts, as usual!! LOL. |

One problem, Zippoman. Even if I do the front steer mod, there's still not enough room for my 3S lipos. They're too fat to fit without carving up the top deckplate. That's the one thing I liked about the stock SR. The battery fit nicely down in the belly. |

If your doing the front servo setup you could cut the back half of the center plate off, giving you increased room for batteries. |

True enough, and I thought about doing it but couldn't bring myself to hack up such a nice piece. |

Oh you can still buy new center plates so hack away!! They are cheap too. Under $6.00. I might do that for with mine because I want to try 3S myself but don't even have a normal size 3S. I have a dinky 900mah 3S meant for crawling I guess. I can see that if you cut the plate just past the center side mounts that could work....it might look funky but maybe a person could even piano hinge it or something...make like a hatch!!

OK guy's I've followed the discussion and posted an opinion, now I just want to follow up with some pic's, if it helps fine and if not, so be it. Like I posted I made the DF body one piece for ease of on/off battery change, maintainance purposes. You'll see how I cut the bottom deck to slide over a regular size battery that is mounted in the front stock location and the foam weather seal is easy as, cut to length and shoo-goo in place. Look back thru Tyler/Jacob thread, no snow gets in at all. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's a couple with the DF-300 and TBG body's side by side. You can see they're the same dimensions so the TBG will fit over a full size battery also, you'll just have to seal it similar to what I did or better. (1" soft foam weather seal) Not only will the foam seal the chassis it helps stiffen up the thinner Lexan of the TBG body. ![]()

I wonder how the TBG DX interior would fit inside the DF-300 body? I want to move my battery to the back and cover up the ugly front with an interior. I guess for $4.99 a person could try it. Actually make it $13.99 with shipping!! Crazy!! Thanks gdb85. The issue is that the SR body on an SR-to-DF converted machine is just too narrow and low for fullsize 3S packs. That's why I was asking about the Bluegroove one. I appreciate everyone's input and patience So I can either modify the deckplate, or the SR body, or get one of the bigger bodies. The mini 3S 1300maH lipos I have fit just fine, but run time is less than ideal. I've got a pile of 3S 5000's to use, which would be awesome!lThanks again for all the help and suggestions.Troy. |

GDB85: What you plan on doing with the Team Blue Groove DX body there? Do you have a DX as well? |

I do not have a DX ....yet, but I want one, now that I'm into these things, I like the 5 rubber wheels and rear drive sprocket. More scale realism to the real vintage "Cat's" that I'm fond of. About the TBG body I was just going to do something different to distinguish the two DF-300's. Maybe scale it up a little with a balsa wood stake bed look or something. |

You know what, I feel like a real "butt-inski" now. I wasn't paying attention to the fact that you guys are converting the SR's. I'm not at all familiar with those, are the chassis plates more narrow than the DF?? My bad fellas. Sorry.

No problem bud! They are pretty much alike as far as the tub chassis goes, just a different drive setup and smaller body. Conversion is pretty straightforward. The SR body fits more closely to the tub, thats the biggest issue for battery placement since the DF-300 transmission takes up more room than the stock SR. |

The SR chassis are identical to a DF....It is just the bodies that are different. I plan some chops on mine. I have spare parts on order including a new top plate for fun and some new side plates. I am becoming Reaper junior!! I am addicted!! |
