Hey fellas, a ? for you DF, EV owners that use a pistol grip radio.

Unfortunately with work being slow I got some significant wheel/track time with these things the last few days.

The one cat has a Traxxas WP 2075 servo and I'm having all kinds of trouble getting the brakes to work descent with some kind of consistency. The other has a Futaba something (don't want to go check, lol) but I got it to work really well, it's easy to get to turn at speed and slow scale moving.

The one with the 2075 is so eratic, I get it to work good on the bench and then it seems to change out in the snow. It goes from OK to the R track hanging up to the L track hanging up and then OK again. It's almost like it doesn't want to center itself consistently. I never ever liked those plastic geared servo's at all but I figured for this application it would be OK but it just isn't cutting it man. Anybody having trouble with these servo's or is anybody even using them. Both rigs are set up with Spektrum DX3s radios w/300 rx.

I use Hitec servos in all my scale rigs (7954, 7955 and 7950) and XP servos in my go fast stuff. I thought to myself that any of those would be overkill and a waste in a Snowcat, that high torque and speed would not be necessary.

Am I wrong in my thinking or what? Any and all input would be appreciated guys, Thanks.

I would guess that the servo is simply not centering itself. I wouldn't think that there would be enough drag for the servo to not be able to go back to center, but if it is incredibly weak, must be possible. You would think that it would do this in the bench as well. Possibly the tempature?

Being a little new with these things still I thought I had exhausted my adjustments.

I looked at the other CAT and don't know how I missed it but the roller I bought didn't have the springs at the end of the brake servo rods. So I added some and also loosened the clamping pads on both disc's a bit and now with the settings and adjustments everything is working good.

You know, almost all the problems that people encounter have such simple solutions... myself included.

I, myself, in the past, when things have gone wrong, I would fly off on a tirade and blame the manufacturer. I have even sent things back as faulty, only to have them tell me it was fine.

Now, I always look at myself first. Hehe...
