Thought I'd post up my two Grandson's snowcat that they'll be running when they come to visit. By the way I do work, lol, just a slow week, nothing Tue, Wed, or tomarrow. So I'm messing with RC stuff and postin' on forums. I picked this up on RCC a week or so ago, Zippoman was aware of this one. It came painted already and RTR. Took the XL-5 and Titan 12t out and installed a VXL ESC and a CC 5700kv. This one I put a 20t pinion on and will remain operating on 2s 20c battery. They're 12 & 10 and have not grasped throttle control yet, lol. I also removed the futaba radio and did my Spektrum thing (put everything I removed into a 2WD Slash and sold it) ![]() ![]() When they seen a pic of mine with lights, first thing was "is ours going to have lights too" so once again rootin' around under the bench (I highly suggest doing this to everybody, at least every 3 mos, lol) I found an older RC4WD scale light system and it worked. ![]() So I went to mounting light buckets on their rig. I used slightly different shaped buckets so it would look different than mine and added a few extras also. What kid wouldn't like lights on their RC? Along with the 4 across the top, I added 2 spots on the side of the cab and 2 yellow fog lights across the bottom also put 4 round tail lights across the back. Should keep them happy and they have more lights than Pappy, lol. ![]() ![]() Once I get a couple more led from the LHS I'll get things wired up and get some pic's with the lights on at night! Oh yeah, forgot to mention did all the mods to this one that I did to mine....diff fluid and grease, full bearing upgrade. |

Looks like it will take on the dark nights, liking the color green for the paint too. |

Yeah I hear ya my man. Fotunately they're two seperate families and same day visits are few with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas. We try to refrain from RC on those days so we don't upset the rest of the family, lol. |

Well, I just got in from running the boys Snowcat. This time I threw in a 3s 50c battery. It was the first chance to have an extended run on 3s. WOW! Man that was neat! It was like the snowmobile races on the X-Games, lol. No kidding it was really cool man! After running a good 20 min. the motor temped at 105 and the ESC at 115. Awesome, way cooler than my other go fast stuff. I know one thing for sure, the boys will definately not be using 3s battery's, lol. |

A temp gun my man. Get'em at the hobby shop or online. This one even reads in Celsius for you guys in the "great white north", lol.![]() ![]() It's a handy little device, because what feels hot to touch does not even come close to the so called "redline of electronics". |

Sounds like the kids will have to wrestle the controls away from Pappy! . 2S should be more than enough for the youngin's to have a blast!

Oh No! First breakage....jumping off snow piles (with 3s) and landing where I had moved snow already, not enough cushion to soften the landing. Oh well live and learn, got parts on hand to keep playing. I'm thinking a little longer bolt and lock nut may help in preventing this from happening again. Oh, and landing in soft snow will probably go along way in this not happening again also.
