They are on the way to me now. He (David, the owner of Avid I am assuming) told me that he would rather sell them to us at a discounted rate and recoup some of his investment, rather than just stick them somewhere forever.

Although, I don't know if they will have to be rotary-tooled to fit, or what. I will find out soon enough. THey might not fit whatsoever...

I already have an old set of the Avid installed on my DF-300, but if these are good, I will get myself another spare set...

Tim keep us updated for sure!! I hope they fit with no dremel cutting. That would be a bonus!! We here would buy up probably most of his stock, eh? When I say "we" I mean RC Snowcat memebers......oh and word might reach RCC because some guys have come from there to here. :D

Okay, so I received the new brake pads from Avid yesterday. I have been so busy, I didn't even really look at them until today.

First off, they look very cool. I know, a brake pad? But it is a cool design, not just a boring ol' circle.
Secondly, they are a direct fit. :giggity: What luck! They are oh so slightly thicker than the previous Avid pads, but by a very small amount.

I have not had a chance to run them yet, but spinning one side with my hand and applying the brake, and then doing it again with the older disks, I could no see any difference. I cannot see why they will not be a good solution, but I will try it under power first, just to make sure. It might be a couple of days, as we have 2 feet of snow expected for the next 2 days straight, so I will probably not have power for a few days...

I told the owner of Avid that most of us Blizzard owners, knowing that there are only 50 sets available, will most likely purchase 2 or 3 sets each. I am sure he will sell most, if not all of the pads. If I think they are good, I will most likely get another 2 sets...

Anyways, more to come...! :HandsomeTim:

If they are good and price is right I will get 4 sets!! 2 for me and 2 for Oilcanman!! Never have enough spare stuff, eh?? :)

I wish my carbon fiber would have fit like a glove but I messed up with the dremel and they are a tad loose. They still function great in my opinion....I will run them until I break them..hehehe. I wish my servos were here and the EV brake parts. I want to get this DF-300 snow ready....hey SR = Snow Ready....lol. What a weird thought that came to mind!! Hahaha I am losing my mind.......YES!!

I want in too! After running a few packs through my machine today, I realized how on/off the brakes feel. Some scary near misses at full throttle thanks to those touchy brakes :palm:

Should see if they can setup a pre-order page for everyone... that way they will know exactly how many people want them.

I emailed them. I think they are good, but I am not as picky as some I think :D

They are a little thicker than the old avid's. They said that there is only 20 pairs actually, so I asked if he was planning on putting them on the website, and let me know. I could link over to them afterwards...

Tim if they are good for you I am sure they will be great for most of us!! My carbon fiber ones work but I am still ticked off with my over dremel sanding of the inside hole....they flop around but still brake excellent. I would probably get 4 sets so I have a life time supply....well Oilcanman will get 2 sets from mine. Still it should last a life time because who knows what the next project will be. :)

I cannot see why they wouldn't last a long time, since we are not using them to slow down a heavy nitro car from 60+ mph into a corner.

I don't know when they will want to "release" the design, but when they do, I will pass on the info...

Here they are, kids. David priced them cheap for us, which was awfully nice. This is a hidden link...

They are very cool looking disks. I'll post pics of them installed when i get home from Arizona next week.
