What's the best to do as an upgrade for the brakes on a DF-300? I've seen some replacing the pads and others replacing the disks. Dan |

I like the Avid brake disks myself, they seem to last a decent amount of time and they are cheap too. |

I just got some carbon fiber ones today but no DF-300 to try yet!! Bummer. I bought two different sets from Amain!! xtreme racing : 10913 Team Associated RC8 10730 Kyosho MP-9 They are very similar in size!! Just the middle holes are different. What is the diameter of the Blizzard discs? and will thickness matter? Edited by ZippoMan, Jan 23 2013, 03:33 PM.

Hey ZippoMan, I don't know if you got the info you were seeking but I was messing around today and took some measurements. The outside diameter of the stock disc is 30mm with what looks to be enough room if after market discs are 32mm, the thickness does not matter the so called "clamping pads" are adjustable. Here is a pic and some measurements of the part the disc fits over... hope this helps. This is the part... ![]() Here is the two measurements for the inside diameter/shape that the disc will need to be... .....18mm .....15mm

Thanks for the info. The discs I have are both 30mm in diameter which is great. The inside parts will need to be tweaked. I think the Kyosho ones are closest to actual size. I hope using a dremel on them will be okay? I can't wait to get my DF parts and see what I can do. The Kyosho discs were on sale!! Under $10.00USD. The Kyosho ones I bought are about 15mm x 12mm where the DFs are 18mm x 15mm. Out by about 3mm in both directions The Associated are about 13mm x 10mm. It will take more finess. I hope to use both disc. Oilcanman should be getting a DF soon too.

Nightwolf I found two places that sell them way cheaper than that lame Tiny RC. 2Wheel Hobbies - Bruce there is great!! I bought a full body set for about $77CAD shipped to me. That includes BL-21, BL-22 & BL-23. He said he only has one body left....ummmm, maybe not after today...lol. I need a spare for my project so I think I just bought him out. He won't be getting any more either. Decals http://2wheelhobbies.com/product_info.php?products_id=1186 Other place you can try if in the USA is : http://www.hobbies4life.com/ They said they special order them. I was going to buy there but shipping was crazy high due to priority international USPS only. Edited by ZippoMan, Jan 25 2013, 11:50 PM.

Hey ZippoMan, I followed your lead with the carbon fiber brake pads. Ordered a couple sets from A-Main Hobbies, they got here today. I brought out the dremel and a few select grinding tips and proceeded to mod the pads. It turned out OK, not factory cut but the fit seems good to me. I'll post feedback on how they feel in a day or two, until then take a peek... Started with these... ![]() After 20 min. of careful grinding, I got these... ![]()

GDB85: THey looks great. So, the interior holes were just not large enough? Hows the exterior diameter compared to the original steel disk? |

Tim the exterior should be the same diameter, I posted my measurements. Yes the inside holes are very tiny on the Team Associated! I also posted mm measurements...you didn't read?? :P |

Which dremel bits did you use? I hope you get great results. Did you buy the Kyosho discs too? I notice they have a bigger inner hole and may be easier to dremel to size.

The exterior diameter is 29mm, right in line with the stock disc. The interior diameter is smaller by a couple mm each way. The Associated disc were the only ones available when I placed my order. I'll probably install tonight and see how they are tomarrow and post up what I thought. Here's what I used...
