Hello all! I have some issues and I think it could be the receiver I have. I am using a Futaba 3PM-X radio with an FrSky FASST compatible Rx. This one here : http://www.frsky-rc.com/ShowProducts.asp?id=106 My issues are that when I plug the Sabertooth for my Blizzard SR in the one track will go full throttle until enough juice is in somewhere? Yes I do have the transmitter on before doing anything as always for any RC. The track will stop its craziness in about 5 seconds of battery connection time. Then it is fine to drive. Has anyone else used the FrSky receivers? They must need BEC to power them on before the Sabertooth is happy. That bums me a little. It is just annoying but not really a serious problem. I yanked out my stock Kyosho Receiver to use in my Tamiya Bruiser build. I will use that radio system because I am too cheap to buy any more radios. I have the Futaba 3PM-X and use the original Fasst Rx in my Wraith and have 2 of the FrSky Rxs. One in the old Tamiya Bush Devil which I must say works great and maybe because the Traxxas XL-5 ESC I use has a BEC. The sabertooth does not have a BEC does it?? Hmmmm...more thinking?? :( I guess it does have a 5V BEC.....I am stumped now! http://www.dimensionengineering.com/products/sabertooth2x12rc Edited by ZippoMan, Oct 12 2012, 08:36 PM.

Okay so I am thinking....is there a way to get the BEC power to the RX before the sabertooth has power? It seems like it all powers up at once so there is a mini storm before the calm....lol |

Wish you were here...

I would initially suspect the receiver. Wonder if you had a matched Futaba receiver if that would happen? Maybe a quirk of the 'cross over', before they recognize each other and decide to play together... |

Yeah must be just a quirk. I don't have easy access to the Futaba Rx from my Wraith. It is pretty much stuck in the Wraith for good...lol. |

I agree with everyone else. Sounds like a receiver issue. The only time I've been able to mimic something close to that was when I was using less than stellar radio equipment, and trying to produce glitches. |

Ok so I will live with the problem. Hehehe. I wanted a cheap receiver that works with the Futaba 3PM-X and that is what I got with a FrSky. I got basically 2 for the price of one real Futaba Fasst Rx. The FrSky works great in the old Bush Devil with the Traxxas Xl-5 ESC. It just doesn't like the Sabertooth in the Blizzard SR. Live and learn....buy cheap get cheap!!

I finally figured out the problem with one track wanting to go when I plug the Sabertooth into my battery!! YAY!! It is in the dip switches!! I looked at my settings today and found that I need autocal on!! It was in the off position. That is dip switch 5...needs to be up. So for my set up I have: 1-Up 2-Down 3-Down 4-Down 5-Down 6-Down Works fine but must be other gear mesh issues or fine adjustments to get her going straight!! It wants to go left all the time. Oh well more tinkering!! Hope this helps anyone else. |

9 times out of ten, I find it to be the simplest things that cause the problems... |
