I got an Axial AX10 rock crawler in October, and by November the transmitter (an AX-3) and receiver (an AR-3) were exchanged because the receiver stopped working. Now its March and the new receiver is sporatically stopping. If I leave the transmitter on, and cycle the vehicle off and on, it works again for a few minutes then dead. The connections are good and the batteries are fresh. The receiver is in a safe location from shock, moisture..etc.. I swapped it all out for a Traxxas unit (which is now sharing the transmitter with my Blizzard) and it works fine, but I really hate to loose the new Axial set up (I like the steering too, lot of throw compared to the Traxxas). Any suggestions to diagnose or repair? Anyone else experience this? |

I say Axial stuff is pretty junky!! Lots of guys have issues with it. It must be very cheaply made, the TX especially!! |

What is powering the receiver? Using a BEC? |

No, powered off the ESC, which is from the factory (BEC built into the ESC I guess) |

Yeah, I can't tell you how many screws I have lost (this was a Ready To Run). I lost the drive shaft set screws, 2 of the 3 flywheel gear screws, and today.. I realized a few of the axle screws were MIA.... ![]()

They certainly don't use loc-tite on the hardware on the RTR's. (Ready To Retighten) |

Well, i'm concerned now that dirt might have worked its way into the axle..at least on the one with two of the four screws missing. I didn't really want to take apart, clean and reassemble it, but my gut tells me I should....*sigh*. The joys of mechanical toys! |

Well, this has got WAY off topic now, but about those axles... Found a gnarly gear inside: ![]() Replaced with heavy duty gears (steel) with bevel cut and a pinned in driveshaft...nice!! The stock looked like a die casting... too light weight for crawling. ![]() ![]() Then I tossed on some Jun Fac steel drive shafts, Losi Shocks and some shiny things to scratch the h#ll out of on the rocks!! ![]() |

Now that's more like it! I love the Junfac products, and want to get some of their driveshafts for more than one of my RC's. I just broke one of my lower links on the Wraith on Thursday, so I need a aluminum/titanium set as well. What brand are those? |

Are Junfac better than MIP? |

The links were just Axial upgrade tubes. There is an aluminum link mount to the top of the axle from 'Hot Racing' that came from TCS (The crawler store). I wanted to replace the plastic one because it was sloppy. Now I have a new sloppy aluminum one :-/ and also it wasnt cut right so it does hit the axle a little. Not worth the cost to send them back. As for the drive shafts... I never tried MIPs but I never read anything bad on them. They are expensive. The JunFac's have a single 'D' shaft instead of splines. While holding the shaft and torquing it lightly in my fingers, I could not slide the halves in and out. Worrisome. But, the one big complaint people had about the wrist pin getting lost seems to have been corrected on these with the addition of a c-clip to each joint to captivate it. Mine is covered by shrink wrap (which was previously the solution to that problem) so it's a bit redundant. I'll let you know more after I run them in a bit!
