I am sure that this will not compare to Itch's soldering setup (or some of the others on here), but look what the wife got me for Valentine's Day...

She did good. I think i'll keep her. I have been struggling for a long time trying to solder deans connectors to the 12 gauge wire. A few weeks ago I had to solder on 2 deans connectors for a friend, and it took me about 45 minutes of just holding the iron to the work. I was so frustrated, I jumped online an researched soldering stations. I found this particular unit, but couldn't justify the $80 or so it cost. She took note! Actually, she has struggled for 16+ years with those cheap-o sub $20 plug in radio shack ones when she makes up needle groupings, so she understands. I also do soldering on her tattoo machines, which always need new capacitors, and other small repairs. So, it is not just for my RC stuff (just about 95%, hehe)... I have a lot of stuff to catch up on. I have to make an order for a whole bunch of Deans connectors! |

Very nice! Yeah I wish I had that solder station too. I am using the cheap 25-35W ones from The Source.

Thats a nice soldering unit! Used to use a similar model by Weller at work about 2 years ago. Wish I had one for the house! |
