Looks great! It is really throwing some snow in the video. I just need me some snow, can you ship some to me? |

Thanks Tim! Ya... I drive as though the throttle is an "ON - OFF" switch.... ![]() Sure I can ship you some snow.... but you might not like the freight charges... ![]() Edit; just thought I'd mention.... after the powder playing there was ZERO trace of snow or moisture inside. ![]() I did tape up the rear vents before going out.... Small update.... Body mostly complete. The cutouts in the rear deck are for the battery mounts. I'm still waiting for the Pico Switch to control the lights. When that comes I can do the final assembly. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Great build. Had a couple of questions. What does the Turnigy bec do. Where did you get the gears. The plastic gears look like the weak link if you up the power. |

Thanks! The Turnigy BEC powers all the RC stuff... the receiver and servos... (I didn't show the servos.... yet.... that is a surprise for later... )The gears and chain are from Servo City. I was a little concerned about the plastic gears, but they are very strong nylon, I don't think they will be a problem. As for upping the power.... I doubt I will do that... it has plenty of power now....

An excellent "execution" of your idea - it looks "brushless" in the vids - "kudos ! " |

Thanks much! ![]() Ya, I was kinda surprised how fast it turned out to be. Plenty of torque too. Pretty good for a couple of 540 brushed can motors. (I am using a 3 cell lipo tho... we'll see how long those cans will last on 3 cells...) |

Well, here's the finished product. The goal was to incorporate all the modifications... while trying to keep as much of the "stock" look as possible. With the exception of... The battery mount on the rear deck, the non-stock location of the roll bar/handle, and the antenna location, The batt mount is the most obvious change. The other 2 are very minor. I think it turned out ok. Tell me what you think? ![]() ![]()

That looks great. I am impressed, you really did a whole lot of work in a short amount of time... I always love the DF-300 body. Nice choice. So, hows it perform? |

Thanks Tim! Performance is very decent. I think its a bit faster than a stock DF, but not much. Certainly not faster than a hot brushless setup. But I wasn't going for all out speed. The biggest difference is the torque and control you get with twin motors and the Sabertooth. With the Sabertooth 2X25 its possible to "just barely" nudge the controls and have the machine perform very tight precision turns. Can also crawl along VERY slowly. The Sabertooth just gives you great motor control. I also really like not having the diff and brake rods in there. They always seemed to get in the way... I have also discovered that there is actually room in there for another servo to operate a plow. Yes... even with all the stuff I crammed in there... I found room for a full size servo. Plow likage will have to be cable actuated, however. There "might" be room for a solid rod.... but it would be tricky... I have ordered a complete plow setup, so at some point I'll get that installed. For now, I need to do some shakedown runs before I add any more to it. Video coming soon.... |

"nice".... I have posted a few shots of cable actuated servos in here somewhere - the last one that I remember had the servo all the way the back of the chassis ( long cable ) - looks great ! - hope that the plow works out for you - I ordered all of the plow parts as well with the idea of someday getting one on my EV... but it doesn't look like we will be having many more winters up here as we used to know them :( |

Thanks phat! ![]() I'm gonna try to get a solid rod in there first, but it's nice to know someone has made a cable setup work. We got snow today... but it's warm out so the snow is wet and heavy... oh well.... I'm gonna run it anyways... Sprayed sprockets etc with WD-40... hope it works... the snow is very sticky.... |
