Thanks Oilcanman, I'm glad I bought spares of these, looks like I'd better order more...

I'm gonna try and get a video posted of a test run with the dual motors. Maybe tomorrow...
I don't have a body ready yet, so I'll just put saran wrap over the top of the tub to keep the snow out.

Hot damn, i'm impressed!

You are almost at the point of making a completely new snowcat! That overhead shot of the chassis looks like this thing means business, especially with that 2x25 in there.

Can't wait to see the video of it moving under it's own power...

Thanks Timmy!

Ya, it's a near complete re-engineering of the whole machine.. if you count the suspension mods too...

I'm now sure the Sabertooth 2X25 is way overkill... the 2X12 probably would have been enough.
The 2X25 doesn't even get warm in the 2 running tests I have done.

I'm gonna try real hard to get a video made and posted tommorow....

We don't have much snow.... and what we do have is hard and crusty... oh well... it should be fun anyway...

Ok, a little teaser here...

I made a video and it's uploading now, will post link when it's ready.

It's very clouded over so the lighting is not great, and the snow (what little there is) is hard and icy.
That makes control a bit difficult... but you sure can "Drift" the Blizz on it! ;)

Man your Blizz, goes like stink ;) looks like you suspension mods are working. For a second I thought you had a race car there :) :) . I guess you still have 3 months of winter yet so you will get a few dumps for the real test.

That thing looks like it can move. What 540's are you running again?

What's that really long whip antenna on the Blizzard? Looks like it can pick up some HAM radio on that!

Is that your 4 door Bel-Air/Impala? I have not seen a 4 door in a while. Glad it still retains it's stock wheels...

Thanks Oilcanman!
ya it seems pretty quick.
The suspension is a bit more "bouncy" than I had hoped, but not too bad.
Maybe some tweaking might help... but not much you can do unless you build a Ripsaw.

Hoping we get a big dump of snow so I can play in the deep stuff.

The 540's are the one's that come in the stock DF-300.
Since I have 2 DF's and never used the motors, I figured they would be good for this project.
I'm using a HiTec Laser 6 surface radio, 75mhz so the antenna is really long...
The white plastic tube for the Rx antenna is longer than it needs to be, but not by much.

Yep, that's a 1968 Impala, 307 2BBL and 2 speed Powerglide... and lots and lots of rust!
All original and 127,000 miles showing on the odo.
It runs great, but I haven't fired it up for over 2 years... Wanna buy it? ;) :) :)

I have had I think 29 cars in since I have been 16, most of them of that age and, well, rustiness. I have had some nice ones too. My last oldie was a really clean 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille from down south, absolutely no rust. I have had many trucks, 1974 Pontiac Catilina, many motorcycles, among others. The most fun one I wish I could have back was my 1978 Chevy Blazer. I got in a lot of trouble in that thing...

Now I drive a 2008 Honda Odyssey! Very cool...

I would buy it just to drive my wife nuts, but I think it would be a long drive home back to RI...

That's cool. :)

Yup, would be a long drive back to RI....

I recently (Sept) drove a 1991 International School Bus from Edmonton AB to Whitehorse Yukon... a little over 2000 km. That was an adventure...
The bus was for my brother (the last hippy) he's gonna camperize it and live in it.....

I am currently restoring/hot rodding a 1966 Galaxie 500XL.

I have a 1969 428 Cobra Jet for it.

I have had many 60's era cars. I love em.

60 Plymouth Valiant
63 Chev 1/2 ton
65 Mustang coupe 289 3spd std.
68 Mustang Fastback Big Block 4 spd.
68 Pontiac Strato-Chief
68 Impala
And now the 66 Galaxie

But I currently drive a 99 Plymouth Voyager.....

LOL! Galaxiex Engineering LOL! Thanks Oilcanman,

Ya, been busy but mostly with regular job, this top plate took so long cuz I did alot of "thinking" about how to make it work.
It seems simple when you look at the finished product, but I agonized over how to mount the body on this.

I'm trying to keep a mostly "stock DF-300 look" and it should work ok, except for the batt mounted on the rear deck. Oh well.

Speaking of the body... do you guys paint the body first and then trim/cut holes, or trim/cut holes first and then paint?

Thanks!

Well we got a fair dump of snow overnight, enough so I got out the snowblower.

I'll take the Blizzard out later with the new top cover and see how it works in some deepish powdery stuff.
This will be a good test of the "snowproofing".... I'll try and get video too.... but it's -19C out there right now...
