OSHA or occupational safety and health administration provides safety courses. osha courses are designed for construction workers, foremen, job supervisors and other persons in construction industry. OSHA’s outreach training program courses are an orientation to occupational safety and health. Workers must receive additional training according to OSHA standards on the specific hazards of the job. Participants will receive an OSHA construction safety and health 10 hours- course completion card from the department of labour. The 10-hour program construction industry outreach program provides the entry level construction workers general awareness on recognising and preventing the hazards on construction site. The training introduces them to a variety of construction safety and health hazards that the worker may encounter at the work site. Workers must receive additional training on hazards specific to their job. The topics of the course include general safety and health provisions, electrical safety and fall protection, usage of protective or life saving equipments, handling hand and power tools, cranes, hoists, elevators and conveyors. OSHA 30 hour construction outreach course, the duration of the course is 30 hour and on the completion course card is issued. The course is comprised of 25 sections, each section is of the duration of one or two hour. The course contains topics pertaining to regulation of OSHA standards. The course emphasizes on hazard identification and prevention. It is intended to provide workers with a variety of training and some safety responsibility. The course guides workers to implement preventive measures for accidents in work sites. It assesses the requirements of safety gear, fire protection. It recognizes the hazards related to working in and around excavation sites. |
