Here's something I'm kind of looking at: http://s1.zetaboards.com/tto004/index/ Select "Tower 3" from the list, the color scheme isn't too huge a shift from this theme, which I believe is called "Dust Storm". I also found a "theme generator" here: http://freeforumtools.com/zbgen/ Someone could either take their own shot at it, or I could probably take a shot at it myself when I find the time. The new theme would be added to the list of current themes, although if the new theme is good enough I'd probably get rid of this one, particularly due to the hyperlink issue it has. i like some things about the "tower 3" skin, but it appears to have a similar issue with link text. not as bad as this one, but still not ideal unfortunately. i'll mess around with the generator when i have a chance. thanks for putting in the time to help out with this, DJ. |

Yeah, it looks like links are in slightly darker than default text and become underlined when the mouse hovers over them. Better than what we have now, but not quite obvious enough. Now, if through messing around with the theme generator we could figure out how to pin-point EXACTLY which parts of the CSS control hyperlink appearance, we could use a modified version of that theme-with slight different imagery and such. I'll probably still work at using the theme generator to create something completely unique for us, though-I'm really wanting to add elements that I used to make the main website to these forums, and this might provide me with a good chance of being able to do that. hyperlink test: http://cyrodiil.deejaygamer.com/zboard/parch_bg.jpg The new scheme is kind of a work in progress right now-fortunately since multiple schemes are allowed, I can work on it to my heart's content and not have it interfere with the message board. Okay, I think I've got the basics of it worked out-the text input field might need to have a slightly lighter color, though-but at least I got it to work. Also, I need to restore borders to everything, as well as get the separator back between the main text and the signature. I'm getting kinda tired by now, maybe Quix can fiddle with it a bit. The best way to figure out where a particular feature is in the CSS is to assign a random background color, copy and paste it into Notepad, do the preview, copy and paste the CSS and search for that color hex number in the CSS. There are some parts that don't let you assign a background image-that's BS because I could copy and paste the background image parameter from other places and use it in place of the color specification (although I had to copy and paste the color hex number into the spot after the background image thing). I'm not sure if you follow all this-but I had to "cheat the system" so to speak to get background images into certain places. I'm thinking of trying to import the tower button and icon set and everything if that looks good-it might really match the theme and look more original than the old icons, although if I remember correctly I made all the buttons from scratch. I think it was like the folder icons and such and the warning bar that I just recolored and added a parchment texture to. Anyway, I'll look at the image pack and see what I like and/or dislike in it. I've now implemented most of the change. The skin is still called "New Theme Test". I want to see what Quixote thinks and maybe he could attempt a few adjustments himself. I still haven't added a new banner and I think I want to add a texture to some of the buttons and such, and make the background image for the pull-down menus lighter. Also, the input field could be somewhat lighter-colored too, I think. Also, I'm going to work on additional forum icons and maybe do something to the "no new topic" icon to make it looks more distinguishable from the icon that indicates a new topic. The difference by default looks a bit too slight. Also, the post buttons and such are not gifs/pngs and I'm fairly certain were made with a solid background in mind so I'll have to edit them and adjust their format to allow the transparency. is there a way to keep the BG image fixed, instead of it scrolling with the mouse and repeating? |

There probably is, but I'd have to look up the CSS code to do that. I've changed the "nonew" icons to a brown color in order to make the difference more pronounced, plus I changed the buttons to .gifs and removed their backgrounds. How about that? Found at in a tutorial here: http://www.tizag.com/cssT/background.php Full Tutorial: http://www.tizag.com/cssT/index.php I might look through it all the way myself sometime. it'd be cool to use something based off the Septim coin for some of the forum buttons. ![]() possibly the dragon side, and having the actual dragon part appear to "light up" when there's a new post. |

I made the things twice as large as the original icons because there wasn't much detail as the small ones, I could try for one and a half times if these are too large. Went ahead and made the change. Just took the ones I made and reduce them to 75% of the size I had them at. I think the size is now just about right. I might use the original icons for like the PMs and such since the set for the tower stuff is incomplete, and doesn't look quite as good, anyway. Edited by DJGamer, Dec 12 2008, 01:07 AM.

I restored some of the original image set, and made a few changes to a few things. I even created some new stuff that we may never use. I'll just post those here to show them off: Forum Redirect (i.e. A forum that redirects to a page on our website): ![]() Password Protected Forum: ![]() I also changed the Admin CP key image to #1: Match the color scheme (something I had not done before), and #2: Look a bit more like a key from Morrowind. The default key image looks like a modern key, with the jagged edge on the right/lower side. I eliminated the jagged edge and added the two little prong-type things to the left/top side. I also brightened up a few things, like for the locked topic icon I made the lock brighter, and I made the arrow for the moved topic icon a brighter red than it was before. I also adjusted the warning icons, which we hopefully will never have to use: ![]() I'm posting them here since only Quix and me have posted and we're unwarnable. That plus I can't test the "full" icons without warning someone, and I may do things randomly for no reason, but I usually don't do mean things like that at random. ![]() Anyway, normally they're a darker cooler when full and a lighter one when empty, but I felt the difference was too subtle so I decided to go with a red and green system, since red is typically considered a "warning" color and green likewise is "go".
