sounds like a plan. honestly, it may be a while before we're ready for voice acting, but you're welcome to join the team if you're good at it. i look forward to your sample. |

I'm probably going to be doing some of the voice acting as well-and being one of the leaders of the project, I automatically win the role-whichever one I decide to do, anyway. lol But I am a trained actor (sort of, I've taken classes and did fairly well in them)-and I have experience, so it's not like "Oh, I'm the leader of the project so I think I'll put my voice in the mod!". Anyway, yeah I'll probably listen to it too. If you have a particular character in-mind who appears in Oblivion, and is likely to appear here (like for instance if you can do a spot-on Patrick Stewart impression you'll definitely have a significant part. lol), you could read a line from the game dialog-if you want I can try to find you a line of dialog if you have a character in mind. Or, you could just read the monologue from Hamlet or something. lol |

i'll most likely do some voice acting as well when the time comes. what we'll really need is a couple of good female voices, as i'd assume none of us could pull it off convincingly. |

I can probably do an old lady voice or two, but other than that... I might call dibs on Thadas Tharn, just because it's so much fun to voice a villain-type character. |

Here are some quotes from Oblivion, they contain some spoilers, of course. None of them will be used in the mod itself, obviously, but since we have no actual lines written as of yet-I suppose they'll have to do. For Uriel: "I can go no further. You alone must stand against the Prince of Destruction and his mortal servants. He must not have the Amulet of Kings! Take the Amulet. Give it to Jauffre. He alone knows where to find my lost son. Find him, and close shut the jaws of Oblivion!" For Jauffre: "Blades, dark times are upon us. The Emperor and his sons were slain on our watch. The Empire is in chaos, but there is yet hope. Here is Martin Septim, true son of Uriel Septim. Your highness, the Blades are out your command. You will be safe here until you can take up your throne." For Martin (makes a brief appearance in a side-quest): "Jauffre, all of you, I know you all expect me to be Emperor. I'll do my best, but this is all new to me. I'm not used to giving speeches, but...I wanted you to know I appreciate your welcoming. I hope I prove myself worthy of your loyalty in the coming days. That's it, thank you." For Sheogorath (I'd like to do his voice myself, but if you can nail his accent-it might be good): "Wonderful! Celebration... Cheese for everyone! Wait, scratch that. Cheese for no one. That can be just as much of a celebration if you don't like cheese. True? You've run a maze like a good rat, but no cheese for you yet. Well, maybe a little." Here's the scene the quote is from, in case you don't know what he sounds like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jq9TnI7ssTU I'll just put together a little something for Thadas, since I sort of invented his character. "You! You're not supposed to be here...no, no, no-this is all wrong, you'll ruin everything! Or...perhaps not, no, this is only a minor setback. It's remarkable I hadn't seen it coming, of course they'd do something like this. But I will not be like my father, I will not let my guard down-even if you're really no match for me, I may as well do something that absolutely ensures your destruction-just in case, you know. It's nothing personal, not toward you anyway. No, my true vendetta is toward the Emperor himself, I'm sure you understand why I must now kill you." That's very rough-I'll probably try to flesh out his dialogue a bit more further down the road-and like I said I currently plan to do the voice myself, unless you so absolutely blow me away with your characterization so as to convince me that I couldn't do the part justice compared to how you handle it. You can also improvise him a little-it's just a moment where you're basically inside Uriel Septim's mind and he's trying to take it over-in this scenario (which may be different in the final product), he's surprised that the player has managed to follow him and is working out how to deal with it. There could be different ways besides killing the player, he could also try to convince the player to help him, or actually be "overconfident like his father" and leave you alone-just to see what happens. It would also be a good way for us to gauge your improvisation ability as a whole as well. And, if you'd like, you can use the Hamlet monologue as an audition piece as well: To be, or not to be--that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune Or to take arms against a sea of troubles And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep-- No more--and by a sleep to say we end The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to. 'Tis a consummation Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep-- To sleep--perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub, For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, Must give us pause. There's the respect That makes calamity of so long life. For who would bear the whips and scorns of time, Th' oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely The pangs of despised love, the law's delay, The insolence of office, and the spurns That patient merit of th' unworthy takes, When he himself might his quietus make With a bare bodkin? Who would fardels bear, To grunt and sweat under a weary life, But that the dread of something after death, The undiscovered country, from whose bourn No traveller returns, puzzles the will, And makes us rather bear those ills we have Than fly to others that we know not of? Thus conscience does make cowards of us all, And thus the native hue of resolution Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought, And enterprise of great pitch and moment With this regard their currents turn awry And lose the name of action. I'm in an acting class right now that focuses on Shakespeare, so I guess I just have an odd interest in it-you don't have to read the whole speech, or read it at all for that matter-it's purely optional. You can also try reading it as one of the characters. It would be very interesting to hear Sheogorath reading it for instance. lol Edited by DJGamer, Nov 15 2008, 09:39 PM.

Thanks I will record tonight/early tomorrow. You will have you audition recording by the end of tomorrow. (PS I have beaten all of OB and it's expansions, guilds, and side quests at least 5 times. I am very familiar.) BTW, I have a somewhat deep voice, it may sound fake, but I promise you it's not. EDIT - I will record in my regular voice and several made up ones. Hope you like! If I get accepted, will my user group on this forum be changed?
