ANNOUNCEMENT: We've moved to a BRAND NEW WEBSITE with its own domain name: provincecyrodiil.com! Unlike the previous website, the forums are ad-free and fully integrated with the rest of the site. The only issue now is trying to implement most of the features we'd been taking for granted with PHP Fusion. The forum should be good to go for the moment, I plan on testing everything on an alternate forum first before trying to integrate it on the actual forums.

Edited out all the other stuff that simply didn't work correctly.

Awesome, and I don't know this for sure (the NIFskope way of applying it may have another effect), but Bump-mapping is only applied on the reflection map. The map simply won't show if you don't have a reflection map. If you have one, then the Bump-map will show along with relflection to look like Vality's ice caverns.

Okay, so I see it in the CS and it appears to be having absolutely no effect...I COULD check it out in-game-but it appears I may be doing something wrong someplace-I may have to PM Vality and ask (or beg) him for help.

I've PMed Vality and hope he'll be feeling helpful this time, especially considering my more immediate concern is using the technique for Otherworldly Goods and maybe the Biomechanoid Race stuff I'm working on. Although if he's okay with us using his Bump-Mapping techniques for this mod, I'll appreciate that as well. lol

It's cause morrowind doesn't support bump mapping. There are ways to fake it, but it doesn't look the same. The things Vality and connary are doing are faking the bump map. If you look at it closely at all you can tell. There is no way to get real bump mapping in morrowind as of yet.

I believe what DJ has just accomplished is a simple technique for pseudo-bumpmapping.

Congrats on the recent finds!

Actually, I haven't accomplished it officially yet-I've done some more searching and I believe I've found some reasonably good tutorials-I just need to try it all out and see if I can get it all to work.

Okay, I think I've figured out. The only major issue is I'm using Vality's enviromap currently.

I might put together a VERY rough dungeon-type thing and see if I can't create a short demo which I can video screencap as a demonstration of what it looks like.

It's kind of a tedious process...although I might be able to cut out some of the steps as the tutorial I found was for reflection mapping, and I don't believe that the Ayleid tileset has a seperate NiNode for each TriShape-since they all use the same NiTexture Effect. If I can figure out how to do that, it'll simplify the process somewhat. Also, it may end up being just adding the texture effect to what I've currently put together. I might try PMing Vality again either to ask permission to use his enviro texture or ask just how one might be made from scratch.

Another edit, I'll likely redo the entire tutorial from scratch now-it's more or less simple.

I'll try to post some guide images as well.

So, DJgamer, how do you use Morrowind's default enviroment map instead of your own?

Well, MW's default is enviro01.dds (or .tga on the CS disc). You simply change the enviro map from Valtiy's to that one. There are also other enviroment maps you can use, or you can create one. Creating ones may be the subject of another tutorial entirely. lol
