Vality's Trees and Such...

welcome to our forums ZackG, i like the little i've seen so far of your Argonia mod.

and i didn't think about it until now, but we should probably make an attempt to make our two landmasses compatible. luckily, as long as your Argonia is somewhere near to where it should be in MW's scale, we should be fine, as we have yet to work much on worldbuilding near the border.
Thank you, Im equally impressed with Cyrodiil.

The western border will be done much later on then the sections im working on now but a rough estimate of were the border is would be -27,-83 by the topal bay, and northeast to -4, -52 where mainland Morrowind, Cyrodiil, and Argonia all intersect.

Thanks for the info Zack, oh, and did you still want those imperial textures done for Argonia? I can make them, but I can't guarantee a finish date, I've been busy here and with my own mods.

And guys, don't you think we should contact Vality7 about making Province: Cyrodiil compatible with Skyrim, and we should also make an alternat version that's compatible with Silgrad tower.

Vality hasn't seemed very interested in having anything to do with our mod, honestly. if, when things have progressed a bit more, he decides to allow us to include anything of his or to join the landmasses, we'll figure it out then. at this point though, it's not going to happen.

The only reason Val is "shruging" our work off as you say is because he's had experience with big mods and knows that they get shut down a lot, he's an "experimental modder" (as he says) and usually ends up throwing a lot of his work out.

And yeah, I've talked to him as well, he's a pretty nice guy and I already knew about his Cyrodiil project, but his was a conversion of Oblivion, with imported heightmaps and such, and his was experimental.

However, I think letting it wait will help, if we already have maps 1, 2 ,3 and 4 out when we ask him, he'll definitely say ok. And we don't need to ask him right now anyways.

Oh, ZackG, how many trees (just in ngplant itself) have you completed? I'm not talking about fully textured trees ready to go in the game, but how many NGplant meshes do you have, and can we have a little preview?

The only ones I've made are a crappy Grazelands tree and an awesome Jack Pine. I plan on making new ones soon, I just need some ideas, that's why I posted the thread.

Ive probably done about 30 or so, but of the ones I plan on using, 2. A few tips of things Ive learned and you might want to think about 1) When making the trunk, keep the resolution high, bu twhen making the branches keep the resolution to 3-5 as nobodys going to get a good look at the anyways and it just eats up face count. 2)When making leaf textures, dont make a single large leaf but draw five or six small ones at medium to low quality.


No preview, Im afraid, I like to only show my highest quality work =-P.

Thanks for the tips, and that's ok, I only like sharing my good work as well. But I doubt your work will be bad.

And I as well am impressed with Argonia, I love how you put trees growing on unusual places like on the sides of very steep hills and such. And be sure to include "Riding the roots" as a form of fast travel.

And on the fast travel subject guys, I think we should have Caravan ports and people giving tolled horse rides, that would really boost up immersion.
