Deep inside the complex, within a dark laboratory in the very basement of Alpha Labs, a single light flickered. Makkuro sat in front of a solitary monitor, watching a trio of young men close in on his location. He knew two of them to be members of GLADIUS, and another was a SEED student. They'd been messing around with one of the five separate experiments he'd been conducting. They'd even been so brash as to leave the door open after he asked them not to. And thanks to their mishaps his test subject had escaped. But this was not all bad. In his experience, Makkuro had come to understand that any thing one can observe can be learned from. Their chase for the rabbit would be an experiment in itself. A dark and malicious grin spread across his face. His rested his chin on the back of his hands, fingers laced together, elbows resting on the desk. Deeper and deeper they went, down the rabbit hole. Soon they'd arrive, and he could give them what they needed to conduct his experiment and rectify their mistake. |

"I smell popcorn!"

It was nerve-wracking, this journey into the basements of the Alpha labs. The blonde wondered how the other two could stand it. He was fidgeting all over the place, and any small sound in the shadows made him jump. The light down in this place was dim, but at least they wouldn't be walking around by flashlight. Lord knows that if they only had a flashlight to see, they'd be in trouble if something snuck up behind them. It suddenly dawned on him to check behind, just in case something was there. He turned, but saw no one, and sighed once again. With a hand to his heart, Charlie dutifully followed the other two boys deeper and deeper into the dark. Although they had been silent most of the trip, he tried to make light conversation now. "I'm sorry I dropped the bunny, fellas." He chewed gently at his bottom lip before continuing, "I really hope this doesn't turn out to be some sort of trap though. If that guy uses us in experiments, then I'm sorry, but I'm bolting out of here as fast as I can." Charlie's gaze dropped back to behind them, up where freedom was, "I'm sure my mom would not appreciate some guy screwing around with my body in that way." |

Beaumont scoffed at Charlie's remarks. What a weak willed person this guy was. Not that Beaumont could blame him. If he were a different sort he'd be scared too. But he wasn't. Beaumont was Beaumont and he was trained for this sort of situation specifically. "I'm not some weakling that will loose to this idiot.." He said with a wry smile towards the younger man, and he honestly meant it too. He had a lot of confidence in his own abilities and with Cypriss as his backup. No one who played things this way would overpower the intelligent and skillful Unit 8! They weren't people who could be easily bested by others. They were elite agents. "Feel free to run.. You would just get in my way after all.." Beaumont said folding his arms across his chest. "I wouldn't want you getting hurt.. after all." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Ah.. Even when you say nice things.." Cypriss said shaking his head, "it sounds really mean!" He said with a laugh at the overly serious Beaumont. He glanced over to Charlie with a curious grin. Even if he intended to run Cypriss was pretty sure this guy was pretty okay. Besides, Monty was right. This guy would most likely just get in the way of a battle situation. So it was really for the best for his sake and for Monty and Cypriss' too that if a fight broke out he just got out of the way to prevent it form complicating things. But Cypriss wouldn't say such to the man. It might be percieved as a bit rude! "SO then... I guess let's visit the mad hatter.." He said walking up to a door. He reached out and touched it. "Well, he can't be mad if we're late if our watch is two days slow.. right..?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Don't make literary quotes at a time like this, moron." Beaumont said shoving the door open and stepping inside. |

As they descended into the depths of the facility it became darker and darker until they were no longer able to see more than a few feet in front of them. A light flickered on above. A voice crackled across invisible speakers. "Just a little further now friends..." Ando said, a the hallway adding a strange resonance to his voice. As they proceeded lights flicked on above them, and the lights behind them flicked off, keeping only the part of the hall they were currently in illuminated. Eventually they reached the end. There was only one door. Large, steel, slightly rusted, and apparently bolted shut. There did not appear to be a handle. A small amount of blue light managed to escape from beneath a crack in the door, and the hum of machinery filtered out with it. Ando's strange resonating voice sounded again, only this time it came from directly behind the door, instead of the speakers he had been using up until now. "As they say, one must enter the den to catch a tiger!" he said, chuckling to himself. "Of course, you're looking for a rabbit, aren't you?" he said, his chuckle escalating to a somewhat inappropriately loud laugh. |

The blonde pursed his lips at what Beaumont said about him. Even when he lived in America, no one was ever that rude to him. He felt a little insulted, but part of him knew that he was right. Charlie was not that skilled in combat; perhaps these boys were? In fact, his powers were hardly used for fighting. ... Waitaminute! Who said anything about fighting? They were there to find a rabbit, not fight off some bully in a dark dungeon. By the time he realized this, the place had gotten so dark he could barely see his hands in front of him. Then the lights did this wonderfully fantastic (/sarcasm) trick where they would only turn on if the three boys were right beneath them. Green eyes traveled up to look at the lights, but he couldn't tell if they were motion-sensor lights, or if someone was controlling them. With a huff, Charlie muttered, "I will not run away." just low enough so that the others didn't hear. Finally, they made it to a door, but Charlie couldn't see how they would get within. He jumped when Ando began speaking, but hoped that the others didn't see his reaction. The voice gave him the creeps and he could feel the goosebumps raising on his arms. "I will not run away." He whispered again, sounding more resolute this time around. He raised a hand and pushed at the door with his powers, testing "the waters" for himself. |
